FromSoftware will be Introducing what character artist does to build the FromSoftware's game world.
"DARK SOULS" series and "SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE" character artist Ryo Fujimaki from FromSoftware will show you the character artist's work, and what need to be considered when creating a creature and the character design. Using his original personal work "Wyvern" and the "Mermaid". he will show you the tips and tricks of ZBrush and how to use them.
ZBrush Merge is an annual event which is exclusive to Japan, showcasing the industry leading artist and studio's use-cases of ZBrush and how they use the software in their pipeline.

For any wondering, this guy's name is Ryo Fujimaki. Lead character designer on Bloodborne. It's a shame that the Wyvern and Mermaid designs were never used in any of their games! I especially like the Mermaid design; could totally have seen both in Dark Souls.

Look up tutorials on "PBR Character work flows", pbr referes to real time characters. But in essence they make a high poly model, then they retopo it, and then create a bump map from the high poly model which they apply to the low poly to create high details... this is very crude, but that's essentially it.

@@terence19100 PBR is about physically based rendering, it has nothing to do with real time character, and you don't make bump map from the high poly, you make normal map

He's saying that by keeping the barnacles at one height and the mushrooms at a second height, (as opposed to just adding more detail) you're providing more detail without over-complicating the presentation.

@@aokajiya Oh ok, thanks. This translation made me think that he had like a method of making it as 2 levels of heigth on baked maps and making it work as lowpoly. I'm just curious how can they squish so much detail in those models and keep them functional.

last one looks a lot like kos, if you look closely kos DOES have a human like face and all that, but yknow kos is dead and we only find the orphan of kos. maybe there could be a bloodborne 2 where you see kos but, not all dead and stuff

I'm sure those are not concept arts for an upcoming fromsoftware title. why ? Because he would have violated a contract with fromsoftware with that and most likely would get fired or charged. There are contracts for stuff like that, he isn't allowed to show anything of upcoming titles, this isn't a leak or anything like that couldn't be traced back. Fromsoftware got the rights on stuff he would create for them.
