They cannot trust Hao when he investigated Hanbin is because the thief could have succeed their mission which allow the thief protected from being investigated by Hao. So, a thief can appear as detective.

58:24 Basically, If Hanbin was a thief and had completed his mission, he would have the ability to hide his identity from the police officer, Hao- He trusted that Hao was the police officer, he just couldn't be sure that the conclusion of Hanbin being a detective was correct as Hanbin could've disguised his identity, hence why he wanted to test out if Hanbin was the Mafia or not (bare in mind this would've been the best time for the thieves to use the 'hide from police officer' power as Hao had just revealed Ricky and they wouldn't want to be gotten rid of the same way).

At 1:03:47 Hao didnt waste it because he knew there was one between the scriptwriters (Gyuvin, Gunwook & himselfs), so when he checked Gunwook and he was innocent. He knew for sure it was Gyuvin.
gunwook isnt "usually" smart. him and hao are actually the smartest because hanbin couldve easily been a thief if he won the mission and evaded the police check 😭
