Zebra live on "Rock 'n' Roll Tonite" TV show 1983 - Complete show in HD with remastered audio

This was recorded or aired in Los Angeles on November, 7th 1983, per information on setlist.fm, for a TV broadcast called “Rock 'n' Roll Tonite” on NBC. The six songs performed were released individually on the ZEBRAVEVO channel, and that’s where this video comes from. Unfortunately, many of the beginning/ends of the songs were cut off. I replaced the missing audio with various clips from Zebra bootlegs from the same time period to restore the deleted bits. In addition, the audio was only in one channel, so I fixed that as well. Lastly, I don’t believe the TV show presented the songs in the proper order, so I arranged the individual songs back into some semblance of the actual order from the real gig. I remastered the audio and upscaled the video to HD (the original was only 480p).
1. As I Said Before 0:00
2. Slow Down 3:11
3. Tell Me What You Want 6:44
4. One More Chance 10:46
5. Take Your Fingers From My Hair 14:05
6. Who's Behind the Door 22:03

Yes it was truly unbelievable to see them live... Randy's voice live sounded almost identical to the studio album versions... Super talented very nice in humble gentleman indeed. 😁👍👍... I also remember seeing them dozens of time in New Jersey I would always run side stage when guy gelso was drumming, you could see the wood chips flying off of his sticks.. and when Felix broke out the Rickenbacker, man that was one of the best bass guitars I've ever heard.. sorry about that Les claypool and getty lee

This is a great video! I’m 62 now and was waiting in 20 degree weather back in 1979 at 17 to see Randy, Guy and Felix in Bayshore NY at Solomon Grundy’s. The memories of that time epic to me. Thanx for posting.

Thank you! I love to hear from folks who saw Zebra "back in the day"! I still prefer the Workshoppe Demo version of "Who's Behind the Door" and "Take Your Fingers". Lots of lucky folks on Long Island heard some GREAT stuff by the band on WLIR as early as 1978. Amazing. Take care!

Oh hell yeah , I’m 62 as well ! Where’d the time go ? Nothing like seeing 3 sets at Speaks in Island Park , Hammerheads , Beggars Opera… I remember the show at Nassau Coliseum when they opened for Aerosmith !! I still have some incredible pics they signed for me back in the day … miss those days !

Saw them twice in my college years, they put on a great show. They'd cover Zeppelin songs but their own were always far better. Randy Jackson was, is and always will be a Guitar God. And, thank-you for actually deinterlacing properly. So tired of crappy conversions!!

RJ is the greatest front man in music ever. Lead Vocal - his range is off the charts. Rhythm and Lead Guitar - no one plays to his level WHILE singing LEAD. He refused to sell his soul. GOD BLESS ZEBRA

JMP, they waited to be signed by Led Zeps label and were not signed until around 1983. Most of the songs on the 1st album were written in the 70s. Randy Jackson's voice is up at the top and the bands talent is, too.

Never forget it. Valentine's evening, February 14, 1984, Salt Palace, Salt Lake City, Utah. Zebra, opening act for Sammy Hagar. To that point I had never heard of Zebra. As clear as it was to this day, I remember us hustling to find our seats as Zebra opened with "When you get there." I was tuned into the entire show. Next day, I went and bought every Zebra Cassette tape the old Toad Tape had available. Such a phenomenal band! Rock and Roll Hall of Fame needs to recognize this band and put them in.

Thanks for putting this together Bryan! Growing up on Long Island in the early 80s, I was a big fan but never saw them live. After 40 years, I finally got to see them last month in Clearwater, reviving my interest in them. I really wanted to see if Randy could still hit the high notes and he didn’t disappoint! They were amazing! Never got the recognition they deserved.
