An excellent and useful video. No ants in my Contina II, but the top end looked like somebody had used a grease gun in it. Badly gummed up. Half a box of cotton buds and an ultrasonic cleaner session later, it's running smoothly. Thanks Chris 👍
Hi Chris, Very happy to see your perfect tutorial. With my contina I have unmounted everithing from the camera, following you but Im not able to unmount the shutter block, after i unscrew the four screw shutter and lenses do not come out of the camera!!! Can you help me please? Thanks
How did you make the modified pliers to get the brass screw release ouy of the shutter lever? I have been tring with screwdrivers and force but it didnt work. I have a contina II and the shutter lever is stuck, go figure.
Take a cheap pair of needle-nose pliers, you don't want hard steel to work with. Cut the jaws back short, clamp the pliers in a vise, drill a suitable sized hole in the end of the jaws. Tidy everything up with a dremel. EASY!
Usually that is caused by the shutter-cocking mechanism being stuck with dried grease or grit. Essentially, a lever that is pulled across by the top of the sprocket shaft and which cocks the shutter, fails to return to the rest position once the shutter has been released, and so it blocks the rotation of the sprocket shaft, and therefore, also blocks the film advance lever.

If the shutter is releasing as soon as the film advance lever returns to the rest position then the shutter most likely needs to be stripped and serviced.
