Hi Mike, this is Justin, the game's creator. I enjoyed watching your runs, been a fan of your channel for a long time. I've taken notes of your suggestions. Yeah, lot's of people don't like Agahnim. I made him that way because I was burnt out from this project after 4 years, he was the last thing to add, it was way way simpler to make him take your items, made the fight easier to code. I agree, you should be able to keep the stuff you've collected. But if you can look past that, it's still an enjoyable fight once you get the timing down. Tip for him if you ever get to him again, use the run button. If you hold down the action button you can run faster, noticed you weren't using it during the game. Stay away as far as possible at opposite corners when he's throwing projectiles and run and dodge them. When he goes to the bottom, he'll project that gravity orb that pushes you away, run against it to counter that. Other than that, wait until he throws bombs. 6 bomb hits and he's dead. And there's a very secret room in the sewers that I know you would love, spawns like 15% of time, hoping you would have found it but RNG didn't spawn it, oh well. Anyways, glad you got to Agahnim at least. I'm still posting updates to the game at our discord server: discord.gg/doi Oh also, you can disable the dark rooms entirely if you don't like them from the options.ini file, just set it to 0. Cheers
Hey. Glad to see you here. You should know that this game is fucking awesome. You did a great job. Seriously. Better than anything Nintendo has put out Zelda-wise in recent times, that's FOR SURE. I just hope you continue working on it. The problem with fan games is that devs seem to give up on them. I 100% get that you are sick of it. I have worked on long lasting projects too, so I understand. But you should know, from an outside opinion, you made a great game here. I just hope you can stick it out and make some of the updates and corrections that the fan-base wants. Someone else had left me a comment about editing the ini file. I think it would be better if that was an in-game option than me editing it myself. I feel like if I edited the file off stream, that's kind of like cheating. Because then my game would be lighter than other people who didn't edit it.. I still would like to see that added as an option at some point later. 😅 I really hope you consider continuing the game and getting some of the other lttp bosses in there at some point too. I think if you fought the other Lttp bosses before Agahnim it would add a lot. I also get if you are tired of this game and never update it ever again. And if that ends up being the case, what you made here is great. So good work on what you already made. Buuuut if you could just stick it out a little longer and do an update now and then, it would make this old timey Zelda fan happy. Another thing I'd really like is more gadgets for link. I mentioned a flame-hook-shot that makes enemies burn. But literally any kind of new gadget for link is what makes Zelda so cool. So basically just put in more gadgets. I'm sure your discord probably suggested ideas. And sorry, I just don't use discord. Don't have it. On another note - have you ever played the Torneko games? Torneko (Super Famicom) or Torneko on PS1? I feel like those are the best games in the roguelike genre. And I'm just curious if you have? And lastly, are you aware of Zelda Randomizer Reloaded? It's a program that makes endless Zelda 1 games. However, the program is wonky and needs some work. (One thing that's nice is how I can get the roms on an everdrive to play on my CRT though) It'd be a dream to get that program just a little better than it is.. It is VERY cool how that program can do all these different graphic packs for backgrounds. And how it has very specific settings. Like .. want to make a Moblin take 9 hits instead of 2. Stuff like that.. And it got me thinking about your game, and how cool it would be if "Dungeons of Infinity" had more options like that. Some kind of hybrid game between what you just made and Zelda Randomizer Reloaded is the next step..... You got me dreaming.
More enemy variety would definitely be nice. You fight the knight enemies so much so it's the same strategy for most if not all enemies early on. Even the stalfos are reskinned knights.
Things I'm hoping to see in a future update: 1. Less dark areas. 2. More Boss fights. Rotate bosses. 3. More Music 4. Change final boss up. 5. Arcade games need control screens. If anyone else thinks of other things you'd like to see add your thoughts here.
A bigger inventory space would help and travelling back through the previous floor, but the last thing they should have added was a chance to explore the overworld map!
More level ups for the sword, enemies take forever to hack away. Or more weapons to change things up, like the ice or fire wands, or getting the bow earlier.
If you try again, don't forget this version has a strafe. I'm not used to that since the original game didn't have it but it definitely helps when I remember to use it.
39:33 Mike in his very first stream was very quiet, then became his "Motherf**ker Mike" persona from Board James. That's why I like to keep calling him Motherf**ker Mike.
Hey Mike, will you be playing UFO 50? I'm sure you've heard about it, but in the crazy off chance you haven't - it's a collection of 50 Retro games. It came out about a week ago to rave reviews. I immediately thought about you!
God Mike I agree with you on new videos. Sat down and watched pirates of the carribean with my grandma, i TOTALLY THINK THAT THOSE SHOWS FIT IN WITH HIGH QUALITY VIDEOS. Caps lock. Tmnt 1990 High quality video Top Gun, Silver Bullet all High quality video. Regular show, Amazing world of gumball high quality. Lot of other stuff Is way below all of it the new visuals of Mickey and all the shit. Ewww
Hey Mike, love your channel and videos. I stumbled across it because of one of your numerous Zelda 2 mods (my favorite Zelda game btw). There's something I wanted to get your opinion on regarding Zelda. If you could make the perfect Zelda game what would it be? Like, what items, monsters, dungeons, over world, bosses, weapons, version of Link, etc... would you combine? Anything about the game play that you would add or take away? Thanks again for the great content and have a great day!
I know that the cursed chests are a bother, but they are definitely in the Roguelike spirit. Rogue had cursed items as well. What I enjoy about the Rogue cursed items is that they don't always tell you what is cursed. You'll just realize at some point you can't put the cursed item down when you try to upgrade or you start noticing your traits or gear behave weird after a few turns. The mechanic is much sneakier. The way Rogue uses spells was also refreshing when I first played it because you won't know what a spell's effects are until you use it. Spells and Items in Rogue are always a gamble. Makes the game more interesting, imo. Also, I'm sure someone else already pointed it out, but I believe that the music in the shop is from Sim City as well as Pilotwings.
You must have to have 36 GB of Ram to run this software, look at the triangularness of this sword. Love ya'll share a laugh with me. Reading other peoples comments gives me ideas for comments.
That is crazy Mike somebody put they were speed running a game when it was just a first time play through. Mike between me and you we see how that is weird, and should'nt be done. Do u agree? cause I agree with you. Idk what that is or what to title there head or should.
Been playing 1.1.3 version that was just released a day ago. Personally I feel when down steps to the basement it shouldn’t be a closed door behind you. Too many times there has been a shop person that has good items but were too expensive to purchase, where there was not enough rupees to collect. Other times there are too many rupees but no shop to purchase stuff or items that were not useful enough. The random rooms are way too random. Like what is the point of collecting arrows if no bow drops from enemy, chest or shop. Now/arrows are effective against those jumping knights boss.
How have you not been cursed in like the first 25 mins? Every new game I have played because I died, I got cursed somehow since I open and pick up everything.
I remember I was watching live on youtube when you were streaming Torneko... and I said "I got it for PS2" and you responded saying "Oh I didn't know it was for PS2..." and it turns out... It was the PS1 game that I was playing on the PS2 because PS2 was backwards compatible. Torneko only gets challenging after you beat the game and you get Classes and different dungeons just for different classes. It's really difficult.
Leave the aghanim boss as is, only now it’s a secret boss fight against Morshu that you unlock by stealing from every shopkeeper in the game (new mechanic). Bombs!
in mystery dungeon / roguelike games you shouldn't be able to though. it would defeat the entire point if you could go back and forth between floors. you're supposed to see how far you can make it before losing.
@@schwartsbruder yeah kinda. You’re not meant to be able to pick up and carry every item. The fun is understanding the mechanics and managing the resources. There are some things that get super good in your favor, other things that nerf you pretty hard. Sometimes you get really awesome items early, other times you’re begging for a just +1 attack. You die, you start over, so the stakes are pretty high, even on a good run. When you get a good run of items, it feels like even more is on the line. Because you can’t just restart and get top tier items again. You should be confident bc you’ve got good stuff and can easily handle the enemies, but it can mess with you and make you play super careful because you trying not to ruin it. It’s a pretty neat concept. Takes a little getting used to and most people get sour the first few times around. ‘Why can’t I I just have x item’, ‘why do I have to start all the way over,’ ‘why can’t I just save whenever I want’… all normal questions for a beginner, but if you just roll with it, it’s pretty cool
