I really do love the relationship between Zelda, Sonia and Rauru. While I understand Zelda's father's own challenges, Sonia and Rauru feel like the parents Zelda desperately needed. Especially in Memory 8 where they're having tea together. Tell me I'm not the only one who gets the vibe of two parents wanting to meet their child's boyfriend? lol
No you're not the only one. I agreed that Queen Sonia and King Rauru do act like surrogate parents just as she have always looked up to Urbosa. Even they are Zelda's ancestors. I am sure they would like to meet the love of Zelda's life and her appointed knight Link.
Yeah that cutscene is pretty much them teasing Zelda’s obvious love for Link. It was cute. Rauru and Sonia seem like a parallel to Link and Zelda in many ways.

53:20 My favorite moment from the storyline, when the main theme plays after Rauru prononce the name "Link", really shows up how much he is a symbol of hope, Rauru never met Link ( when he was alive ) but he already know and feel he is the only one who can defeat Ganondorf. Such a powerful scene.
I got chills, and if I'm not mistaken, it was the first time they played the main theme in the entire game, so it felt so much more powerful because of that. Reminded me of the movie Creed, where they didn't use the Rocky theme until the very last round
Also the fact that Ganondorf looks forward to it. Like he's slaughtered scores of Hylians, the idea that one could actually pose such a threat to him actually intrigues him (kind of like how Demise thought of that era's Link aka SS Link). And we see this "later" on (or I should say at the beginning of the game from our perspective), he was quite disappointed with how easily he nearly killed Link.
Three best moments in this game for me: - Link. Remember this name! - You won't be change back! - Link catching Zelda mid air while all three themes playing together.

I really love how they implemented Fi's theme in 56:30 It gave me shivers down my spine when i heard it, not only because of the nostalgia, but also because she is the spirit in the master sword and speaking to Zelda at that moment. Its like hearing a long resting friend once again, who remembers aeons of fighting along side multiple Links and Zeldas.
It's actually the ballad of the goddess... So, I think that it doesn't really represent the memory of Fi, but the moment Zelda became Hylia, the goddess and dragon light.

in german dub zelda says "für dich" right before she swallows the stone and became an immortal dragon, which translates to "for you" in english. of course she meant link. my heart shattered right there... 😢
I love this small interaction between Sonia and Rauru at 15:03. The way Sonia lightly 'punches' Rauru's waist gives the impression they have a casual and loving relationship. Rauru caressing the spot his wife just punched him is a good touch too 😊
No, his method of time travel was different. He used a "Gate of Time", reminiscent of the Gates of Time used by the very ancient Sheikah. It was inbuilt in him, and stronger than Zelda's anyhow. He was able to suck the Champion successors from the BotW timeline to the past of the new timeline he created, and then return them later. This is the canon reason why the Champion successors now have thee fighting prowess they have: they were in the AoC timeline temporarily.
40:12 Ganondorf is as close to being Demise as he is able to be, without realizing who Demise used to be. Demise in all but name. Further proof that it's Demise in all but name? Ganon knew immediately how to use that magical stone, regardless of the fact he'd never had one before, when you had to master its use with time and practice, even if he had practice with other magical stuff (unseen, so unproven). Odd for a guy who first tried to "brute force" his way into the heart of Hyrule with a pack of Molduga. PS, I didn't ever see the first Royal Couple as having any children. I don't know how Zelda can be descended from them in any way.
I was thinking perhaps Zelda descends from Rauru's sisters,but I still don't get how 2 different species could have given birth.If this is the case I don't know how Zelda has both their powers,what do you think about it?
I'm guessing they had a child that was never shown in the game. Thats the only logical answer. My guess is maybe nintendo thought it would be too weird to show a baby/kid that was half human and half whatever zonia are.
The stones amplify power they don't grant it. Mineru told Zelda she'd have to master her power. It was clear Ganondorf already had mastery of his own power, so the stone amplified it.
@@NoJenk Exactly, ganondorf being the manifestation of Demise's curse (and basically his reincarnation) the stone granted him the ability to basically become Demise once more. In SS Fi defines Demise as the "origin of all monsters" which is exactly what ganondorf seems to be doing here with his new power. That is also why I feel they went for very similar looks (flaming hair, similar clothing etc).

It may sounded crazy but I feel her ancestors are the kind of parents Zelda needed since her father King Rhoam is always cold towards his own daughter, as well as forbidden her from being A scholar and calls her a failure. They would have accepted Link as her boyfriend since the pair do lived together in his childhood home in present day Hateno Village. This is a real Zelink define moment! ^^

For future dlc, we need a “second quest” story since Skyward Sword hasn’t been given us. I want to see Zelda’s own adventures in the distant past since get a glimpse of it through those memories.

Sadly, TOTK DLC is nowhere in the planned future and they fully intend to work on the next Zelda game instead, far as we know this is the last game in the BOTW series and we're moving onto something else... which'll probably still be in the same vein but not universe.

It is quite clear to me that BOTW and TOTK are the actual Zelda story. Everything else in the known “timeline,” like Nintendo said, is merely legend. The games that we’ve been playing up to this point are to be considered us being granted the opportunity to play through the “legends” of the actual history of the kingdom of hyrule. Thats why so many of the aspects of this story seem as though they are retellings of previous Zelda stories!
Thats why you can find aspects of every game in BOTW’s hyrule… they all are real events! Just the stories that we’re familiar with, are retellings of actual history that were made into legends and exaggerated stories!

As wonderful as it is that Zelda gets some great character development in this game, the part that makes me sad (other than her decision at the end of the memories) is that the "find a way to teach Zelda to use her time powers to return to her time" plan gets thrown out once Ganondorf goes on a rampage and kills Rauru and Sonia. I would have loved to have seen what Zelda could do upon mastering both her light and time powers; I guess the closest we get is her using her sacred light powers as a dragon to restore the Master Sword.* I hope we get a third game so that Zelda demonstrates how much Rauru and Sonia's teachings helped her to grow (aside from the fact that they served as the parents she always needed and showed her love and kindess). This Zelda is the first incarnation of the character I've truly LOVED. 🥰 *Sonia tells Zelda that she has a sacred power that can dispel evil, so I guess in a way Zelda does exactly that by imbuing the Master Sword with light which can defeat Ganondorf.
In the cutscene where Ganondorf kills Sonia I really can’t believe how stupid they both were. Both Zelda and Sonia literally let their guard even though moments before Ganondorf impersonated Zelda and tried to kill the her.

Little did I know I progressed through the story a lot. Thankfully everything else was far behind and I only did the Dragon’s Tears quest. But that also mean I know where Zelda is…

So here's my understanding of the timeline based on what this game is giving us: -The Zelda from Skyward Sword goes to the surface and has kids, eventually reaching to her descendant, Sonia. -Sonia meets Rauru and the two found the Hyrule kingdom, becoming the first king and queen. -At some point, Rauru and Sonia get freaky off screen, starting their bloodline, which eventually reaches to BOTW Zelda. -At some point, Demise is reborn as the earliest known incarnation of the Gerudo king, Ganondorf, who plots to take over Hyrule. -Ganondorf approaches to Rauru and Sonia, declaring an allegiance, but they know he's full of shit. -Ganondorf manages to kill Sonia and take the Secret Stone, becoming the Demon King and amasses his army. -Rauru puts together the original Seven Sages and attempts to beat Ganondorf, kicking off the original Imprisoning War. -Rauru and the Sages die but not before Rauru manages to sacrifice himself to seal Ganondorf away. -Many years later, a new incarnation of Ganondorf is born and attempts to do the same thing in Ocarina of Time, this time seeking the Triforce. -This Ganondorf is either beaten by the Hero of Time or sealed away by the Seven Sages, kicking off the three respective timelines. Since then, Hyrule's foundation and the events that would follow since have long passed to the point that they're considered ancient myths and legends, up until BOTW Link and Zelda discover the mummified corpse of the original Ganondorf from that time, kicking off the events of TOTK.

The sword/Fi made the same sound and glowed when talking to Zelda in BOTW too. In the final memory of BOTW, the sword tells Zelda to use the Shrine of Resurrection.
I wish zelda would have said something more emotional at 1:06:08 instead of “protect them all”. I've read a few timeline theories trying to place this game somewhere in the old Zelda timeline. Guys, you gotta understand, BotW/TotK is a reboot of the old timeline(s) into one. You can tell based on the events being shown. Rauru and the Zonai decend from the heavens, he marries Sonia found founded Hyrule on the Great Plateau (Skyward Sword/OoT). Ganondorf attacks Hyrule for the first time (Interloper/Civil War). Ganondorf swears fealty to Hyrule after his defeat (OoT). Ganondorf kills Sonia, takes the Tear and starts the Imprisoning War. (Downfall timeline) Ganondorf is sealed, but after 10,000 years, The Calamity is formed and wreaks havoc for the first time. (This combines both WW timeline and Downfall timeline, the war before the Divine Intervention (the Flood) and the devastation that would follow until the ancient Shiekah build the Divine Beasts and Guardians.) And the first Sages.... I know I'm not the only one that called out Darunia, Nabooru and Ruto when we saw them.
This. This is the only way to explain how the rest of the games even "happened". They did, but it was one single event that people later separated into different stories.
Nintendo amd the creator have said this isn't a reboot. The 10,000 years happens thousands of years after the original games to the point the prior games are thought of as legend in myth among hylians. They've said this happens at the end of the timeline already in place

Highly recommend looking at Memory 17's "protect them all!" in French, its powerful and the voice actor really gave it their all, i'd actually rate it higher than the English voice actor for Zelda by a small margin! Lowest rated would be Russian because I can't get over how it just sounds like she says 'Spicy Nuts!'.

Well no. Demise's curse will last for as long as a new incarnation of Zelda and Link appears. Demise's curse will always be there looming over them, regardless of if it comes in the form of Ganondorf or another incarnation of Demise.
It’s quite clear he wanted the sacred stone. He mentions it when Rauru blasts the Moldugas, he mentions it when he visits the castle, and he takes it in that cutscene. It’s not about killing Sonia, he did what was necessary to get the stone.
@@bluecheckmiya I understand that, but zelda is also in possession of a secret stone and logic would dictate that if you want to rule over a kingdom you should get rid of anything that could oppose you. It's been established earlier in the story that Ganondorf is aware of how powerful these stones are. He had a golden opportunity to get rid of zelda and didn't take it even though his character was hinted to be tactical and ambitious. The overall game is good but I can't say the same for the story.

Ok ima just say that I absolutely love being able to see what Hyrule once was, back in the ancient past. Given all the world building that went on during breath of the wild, plus some added lore in the tears of the kingdom just made it so cool to see the kingdom as it was. I love the little differences you can see between the modern and ancient kingdoms, like how The Dueling Peaks are just one peak, or how Hebra Peak doesn't have the hole in it because the Divine Beast laser never carved through it at that point, Akkala Citadel is just a normal cliff. It's familiar, yet different, it's as if you were able to look back at Ancient rome, the landscape and how it's changed since then. It would be familiar, yet still vastly different given the time that has passed. Idk it just felt finally satisfying to see, because ever since Breath of the Wild I've always wanted to see what Hyrule was like during the first Calamity fight 10,000 years ago, how did the map change, what was different, what villages or settlements were around at the time.
i've got a feeling that this hyrule is new hyrule, from ww and that rauru and sonia ended up being the first king and queen, sonia being a decendant of tetra, i mean it all makes sense to me

The creator and Nintendo have already stated this story takes place thousands of years after the original games. Sonia and her husband became long and queen years upon years after every previous game in the franchise. All prior games are canon

So the three goddesses never existed, Hylia never existed and the Triforce never existed. The sacred realm never existed either. Zelda and the sage's stories were told by many different peoples, whether link died against Ganon or won, it was all really there but passed down as legends for 10,000 years. Link never existed more than once but his name was all but passed down throughou history as the sacred hero. He never died in OoT, MM, nor any of the other stories as it was all myth to explain the disappearance of the hero who never existed. We hear of many legends even in our world of a sacred sword and hero. All stories told as legends for the one day it was promised he would exist to vanish evil. Lastly, Ganondorf became Demise/Ganon and his hatred for link carried down for those ages but only learned of him once as he was locked away serving to fuel the malice that we all thought happened over and over. Everything was Zelda all along truly making this..... "The Legend of Zelda." And now we truly know the story and can let go of all we had hoped it was/wasnt. Whether we live in the legends or the truth.
I skipped all of the cutscenes when i slowly gathered the tears, so it's weird seeing the history of everything after i already completed things. Funny thing is that I did a lot of lore on accident. For example i accidentally found the master sword because i was really high in the sky at one point and saw the light dragon and my brain went full caveman mode. Managed to get on the dragon (Zelda) and saw the free sword sticking out of its nose, I would have never thought that it was the master sword. it definitely helped out my battles though since I got it early game and had only been using decayed weapons. Another neat example is that i didn't even realize that i was doing a part of the major story line when i acquired the sage of fire, I just thought it was a lengthy side quest. (In case you couldn't tell, I have never played a Zelda game prior to this one.)
This is clearly the timeline that broke off from Skyward Sword. There should be at least 2 timelines that was made by Skyward Sword. One where link kill Demise in the past and the one where Link use the Triforce to kill Demise as the imprisoned. Legend of Zelda time line is a mess as always. The theory of how this disprove the timeline as just being legends or how this will fit into the the timeline is going to be fun for all these Zelda's Theorist .

There's no use of the Triforce, only power stones that have never been mentioned before in the lore, Zonai, that have never been mentioned before in the lore, it shows Rito species at the founding of Hyrule when wind waker said Rito evolved from Zora after the great flood, Rauru is a completely different species in this game when he was a hylian in Oot, Ganondorf was sealed under the castle at the beginning of hyrule's history and didn't break free until after botw... I can keep going...

I watched this while I was waiting for the dragon to come around, I read that the dragon does a circle around the skies of Hyrule that takes about two hours in real life. After watching all these, I don't feel Worthy of this sword...I feel like I disappointed Zelda, Rauru, and Sonia with my impatience. Ganondorf, leader of the Gerudo, kills Sonia, takes her Tear, becomes the king of evil, and starts the Imprisoning War (revealed in Tears of The Kingdom). Ganondorf is sealed by Rauru and the sages for 10,000 years (revealed in Tears of The Kingdom). Calamity wreaks havoc for the first time 10,000 years later; Lincoln, Revali, Daruk, Mipha, and Urbosa team up to face Calamity Ganon (Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity). Calamity Ganon returns and kills the four champions; Lincoln is put to sleep for 100 years after being severely injured by Calamity Ganon’s wrath (Breath of The Wild). Lincoln awakens 100 years later; he defeats Calamity Ganon (Breath of The Wild). Ganondorf returns and terrorizes Hyrule once again; he is finally defeated for good (Tears of The Kingdom).
Calamity ganon was last scene 10,000 years ago before the events of botw that's when sheikah helped defeat him using the sheikah tech. Plus impa states even before the sheikah fought the calamity it has come and gone for as long as anybody knows. But there has always been some who fought it.

I had an almost perfect playthrough regarding spoilers . . . . . I was having troubles with the second half of Ganons second form, but I didn't realize it was still the second phase, so I asked a friend for help with the third phase, to which he responded "oh the dragon part?" I blame myself for being too vague

So...Legends and fairy tales, were all the other games before BotW? No, I don't think so, because while some elements of this game seem to echo previous stories, there are a lot of holes too. It discounts too much. Zelda is supposed to carry the blood of the Goddess Hylia, and the Goddess Hylia certainly still exists. The Zonai were allegedly descended from some Gods, surely. But the first King of the present Hyrule was Rauru (or however you spell it). He was the one with the magic. If you take it too literally, it discounts Hylia and the other ancient goddesses. I suggest that the old stories really happened in some form or other. The games happened. Zelda's bloodline survives to the very, very beginning, descended from Hylia. BUT the "first" King and Queen of Hyrule were the first King and Queen of a newly refounded Hyrule, which has been the last of Many and lasted many tens of thousands of years, up until the present day in the games. Yeah I'm mostly rambling, but I'm trying to make sense of it. I am SO looking forward to playing this!
I'm thinking maybe it's before OOT, and the Zonai are descended from people who decided to stay in the Sky during the era of Skyward Sword. Although Memory 2 indicates that the imprisoning of Ganon was the "Imprisoning War", which we already have one of in the Downfall Timeline before ALTTP- but it doesn't really fit well there if this is the real Imprisoning War, unless Ganon winning completely destroyed Hyrule''s history pre-Imprisoning War.
@@flerken4233 Could be a different war with the same name? I didn't see hordes of people running into Ganon's presence looking for glory and getting turned into monsters...he just created monsters. I saw someone suggest that maybe this was the original First Ganondorf, and when he was "imprisoned" here, it left Demise's hatred free to keep reincarnating into other Ganondorf versions over time, and none could be as demonic as this one turned out to be. He was even powerful enough to let his Malice creep out and do the work for him with periodic Calamities. Well, there's a few holes in that idea (most notably Ganondorf saying that sealing him in that manner would be but a blink of an eye to him because he would not have any concept of anything going on, but yet somehow despite that the Calamity kept happening, and he had no knowledge of the Master Sword), but it is something more interesting to consider than other suggestions I've come across.
I think someone gave a better explanation. All the "legends" are mere fractions of one single event. Yes, Hylia exists and she did created the Master Sword. That is true and canon. However it seems the events of the Zonai coming from the skies, forging alliances with the hylians and later Rauru marrying Sonia is what gave rise to the "legend" of Skyward Sword and the foundation of Hyrule. Ganon swearing loyalty to the King Rauru was kept in memory, yet it was passed down as the moment when Ganondorf shows his loyalty to the King of Hyrule in Ocarina. The Imprisoning War gave rise to the tale in which the Seven Sages seal Ganon in the events prior to A Link to the Past. Ganondorf assuming his demonic form was a story passed down as the tale of Demise as the Demon King, but it was Ganondorf just becoming too OP. @@mercianthane2503 no the imprisoning war takes place before the 10,000 years the last time calamity ganon appeared was 10,000 before botw and the hero and Zelda with help of the sheikah tech guardians and divine beasts defeated him. We know that much. the calamity ganon is the malice this ganondorf has been giving off over the time of him being sealed. But I agree with you on the other aspects the demise part is iffy as someone laid the curse on the spirit of the hero and those with the blood of the goddess. Plus skyward sword, botw and Totk are all written by the same person so I doubt he would retcon the first game he made.
I can't believe the _entire_ TWENTY-EIGHT SECOND animation (I timed it!) plays out at the start of _every one_ of those puddle memories. Seems like they could've abbreviated that a *tad,* after the first time.
