Zen 5 X3D Wins - AMD Ryzen 9800X3D Info & Release Date Leaked
Zen 5s looking cool, were talking 16% higher IPC, and lower TDPs for the mainstream gaming parts making them a decent upgrade, but Zen 5 X3D is probably going to far surpass that 16% gain.
I mean not only do I think that the X3D cache will have an even greater impact on gaming performance this time around, but according to a new WCCFTech article it looks like Zen 5 X3D will be changing in a big way

Do you mean cancel them? If that's what you mean, that would be extremely stupid to do. While the X3D CPUs are brilliant for gaming, they lack the productivity performance compared to the vanilla CPUs. Those who prioritise productivity over gaming would be more interested in the non X3D CPUs. Cancelling the vanilla CPUs would be very stupid because AMD will lose out on a huge segment, meaning less profit for them.

@rozzbourn3653 8 дней назад
@@Gamer-q7v the reason they couldnt overclcok before was that the vcache voltage was tied to the core voltage. too much voltage on the vcache made for a bad day. if they figured out how to segregate those voltages, problems solved.
@FlavioSantos-uw1mr
@FlavioSantos-uw1mr 8 дней назад
I imagine that in a few generations "3d vcache" will be integrated into all chips just like HT or even on-die cache was many years ago, the problem with maximum voltage was the only reason I remember that made AMD have to lower the clocks on these CPUs, and the more mature the technology, the easier and cheaper it is to produce, I wonder when Intel will have an answer to it, considering that the first time I read about 3D cache stack was in an article by Intel about 10 years ago and they talked about chips with over 1GB of L3 cache which ironically was first achieved by ADM in some Epyc chips, but then again AMD tends to be the first in reaching milestones in CPUs even if it doesn't stay ahead for long

Get project lasso or process lasso if you have amd. Whichever it's called. They need to up the cores per chiplet (not gonna happen this time) and get x3d out ASAP. The prices rumored going around for initial launch has about at much hype as the 7000 series. It's not going to do that great, i think the x3d will or the cheaper 7800x3d will. That past launch lead to tons of bundles, free ram, etc wouldn't be surprised if that happened again

@BIG_HAMZ Knowing Intel's luck it may as sell be called "Adamantium" cache because it's got to deflect so serious "Vibranium" from AMDs direction... On a serious note I had a quick read and it mentions Intels attempt as an L4 cache. Obviously the further down the cache hierarchy the slower cache normally becomes. This is where AMDs stacked cache is a revolution fusing through TSV's. Adding cache to a CPU is not a new thing.. I used to have chips on my 386, a simm/dimm type thing on my 486, and I think the final external cache solution was the Slot type P2/P3's.
@BIG_HAMZ
@BIG_HAMZ 7 дней назад
@@craigmcmeechan5899 Yes, it’s not the same but achieved the same goal… to limit the reliance of dram memory hits. Even L4 cache is much faster than ram. My understanding is adamantine uses a node specialized for cache and has been stated to be able to contain up to 8gb of cache in a single chip. This would probably be a chip with a huge die area such as one of their xeons though.

Potentially even having a Top and Bottom Infinity Bus, it would do wonders to latency and bandwidth. Aligning the three chips with precision being the likely issue. Hopefully AMD/TSMC can figure this out.

I jumped on the bandwagon early and got a 13900K when it first came out in 2022 and I've had nothing but problems ever since. The worst Intel CPU I ever owned in over 30+ years. It was so bad that Intel agreed my CPU was defective and replaced it under warranty. The stability problems seemed like they were solved but the replacement CPU is starting to act up. I am done with Intel and I'm going AMD as soon as the Zen 5 X3D chips are available. In fact, I may not wait. I'm so sick of Intel that I might take a ride to Micro Center this weekend and buy an X670E based motherboard and 7800X3D to use until September when the new chips come out, then get a 9950X3D.

I don't believe them. X3d on 7000 series couldn't overclock normally by increasing voltage because it was literally exploding. Stacking memory on top of the die is very limited. The workaround was undervolting to the limit so you could crank the mhz just a tad more. I have no confidence that unless they physically move the 3d cache that it can be solved.

Chiplets are outdated. Like I said before, time is running out for AMD because Intel is about to dethrone them and AMD themselves know that arrow lake is going to mop the floor with zen5 and hence why they are releasing the X3DVCACHE variants earlier than expected to try to draw attention away from intel. A very clever marketing move from AMD, don't you think so, but AMD will soon realize that FOMO is going to kick in sooner or later and will once again take a page from Intel's book and reverse engineer Intel's hybrid architecture beginning with the AM6 socket AMD will introduce a tri-hybrid architecture that will introduce 3 types of cores: T-Cores = Turbo Cores B-Cores = Booster Cores L-Cores = Lag Cores And then AMD will also have a scheduler calling it THREAD MANAGER. AMD fanboys/girls answer this question. Why does AMD always be copying intel? Why can't they innovate and be original on their own?

@blkspade23
@blkspade23 8 дней назад
@@ccfirat Why even stop there. AMD had the IMC first and single die dual cores as well. Intel literally glued together 2 dies to replicate what AMD did with 1 Opteron die. Now Intel is adopting chiplets years after AMD. AMD has been the primary innovator for X86 platforms. Intel was trying to push Itanium for 64bit computing I feel almost entirely because they wouldn't be bound to the agreement that forces them to share X86 with AMD. They made a deal and almost immediately tried to renege because AMD turned out superior products.
