Zen Sword Combo Practice Reanimation - Stick Nodes Animation 

Yo dawg. Big fan of yer works man. If you won't mind me asking, how long does it take to finish your works? Most notably the raymond vs raimondo animation. I'm sure it took you at least 5 months no?

@@Freddie6362appreciate it, glad you enjoy what I make. I animate a lot slower than other people, so something like this video takes a little under a month. I took a lot of breaks on Raimondo Vs Raymond, so that video took about a year total to make.

Glad you liked the video‼️ Unfortunately I didn’t record a timelapse on this video because they haven’t been performing too well. I think the most important part of camera usage is making it move towards where you want the viewer to be looking. I try to have most of my action in or near the centre of the screen rather than off to the side, and for scenes like the tornado I move the camera over to the test stick figure because I want people to be looking at it rather than at Zen. Basically try to either have the focus be in the centre, or following the “rule of thirds.” But for parts like the first attack, where Zen dashes across the screen really fast, I have the camera catch up to her so that it doesn’t move too fast and make the action uncomfortable to look at. Also sometimes I move the camera up and down very slightly, or rotate the vcam slightly, following any actions that are happening. I think it just adds to the flow and momentum. I hope any of that is helpful lol.

@@RaiLukasha Ey, I'm back. Just for a update, this was perfect, PERFECT. It helped me a lot in getting a good grasp on fighting choreography. I actually resorted to going back to some of your videos to actually look on them. Like your best one. Or according to me...Raimando vs Raymond. I say this is the best because of the camera movement. Effects, transitions from 2d to 3d. The very good smears. And the "emotion". But yeah, can't wait for the next video of her.... Going off of Zen. I've realized that her technique. Specifically the one at the final moments of the stick figure she incinerated. Does her aura literally just burn them as in a way of fire. Or something more complicated such as plasma and what not. And if so, what other "techniques" does she have.

@@theexperincedlo7844 For some reason I don’t get reply notifications even if I’m mentioned, so sorry I didn’t see this until now. I’m glad the advice I gave was of use to you. I’ll definitely try to animate some stuff including Zen when I find the time. I have another big project like Rai Vs Raymond in the planning stages (don’t expect it any time soon 😭) that she isn’t really in, but I do have smaller projects including her in mind. Zen can use her aura both offensively and for healing, depending on her intent. The stronger her intent (the more she wants to hurt or heal somebody), the stronger her ability is. So for example if she tried to use it to hurt her brother, Rai, it would be far less effective than on someone she hates. On a test dummy like in this video, she feels neutral towards who she was fighting, so the effect of her aura was pretty standard. Besides igniting the aura that she implants into cuts, which does burn like fire, she can also coat her katana in her aura so that her attacks are deadlier. If she has a strong intent then the aura is hotter, and there would be more of it unless she chooses to restrict the amount. Those are pretty much the only ways she knows to apply her technique so far, because both her and Rai aim to master their few abilities rather than being decent at a bunch of them

Zen was a dude when I created the character, but when I did a redesign I decided she would be a lot cooler a girl. I like strong female characters in shows and all that, and I think a brother-sister dynamic is a lil more interesting than two brothers. Also nice catch with that I didn’t think people would pay attention to the sheathe being behind her

Thank you, I’m glad I can be one of somebody’s favourites. I animate on 24 fps, and mostly animate on ones. I double frame for impacts and (some) movements, and rarely ever triple frame unless it’s a strong impact. I’ve been using the same fps for a long time now, so I guess I just have a lot of experience with it.

Thank you, you definitely can with some practice. I have a lil bit of an advantage cause I animate on a tablet rather than a phone, but either way once youre comfortable and experienced you can create something cool

Stretch

The way the sword was made allows it to be squashed or stretched to look like it’s at an angle. You can either do it that way or just made variants of the sword at those perspectives
