A journey: Restoring health through weigh loss (Bariatric) surgery.
In June 2019, Zena Hassan made the decision to restore her health and her life through weight loss (bariatric) surgery. A caterer by profession, she loved her food, but this led to obesity, and with it, weight related health problems.
Zena weighed over 120 Kg and her health was getting affected by obesity. She suffered sleep apnea and had to use a CPAP device to assist with her breathing when asleep. She also suffered high blood pressure as a result of the Obesity. After the weight loss surgery, not only did she lose weight to a normal weight of 83kg, but her health also improved; she no longer uses a breathing device, and her blood pressure is normal. About a month and a half after the surgery, she visited her cardiologist who got her off the blood pressure medications as her blood pressure had stabilized.
