Mountain Man Magic Sir, I’m going to be playing in a small 2HG tourney this weekend, I respectfully request you do your 2HG prerelease guide... because thats what the world needs right now. :)
Great insights- I loved the extra advice at the end. Your editing on these prerelease guides is awesome, and I appreciate the quick overview of the set and the way you summarize things to look out for. Well done!
Just wanted to thank you for your draft guide for 2021, I had mild success drafting, after applying the tips you made in that video i went 7-1. Hoping to glean more insight here as well!
My first prerelease, my first paper experience, after starting playin MTG on Arena during quarantine. Im feeling like my childs on the first day of school 😁
These videos help me so much when doing drafts and sealeds when I play arena or play irl with my family and friends. So please keep making these videos, you help out so much, especially when I'm not very good at limited. 👌
I think once you play one of the modal lands it's always a land, even if bounced back to your hand. I could be wrong but I want to say I read that somewhere. Great video and I love how you are able to quickly point out the strategy of the different colors and even use a memorable name for the pair. Subscribed for future videos, thanks!
So you were 100% correct about the modal being whatever you want in your hand, even if bounced. Thank you! magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/making-magic/zendikar-rising-challenge-part-2-2020-09-07
Amazing video mate! Wanted to see what the mechanics were up to in the set as it actually looks interesting and you nailed it man! Your quality has kept on rising while I've been away, a really awesome video
Mono black looks really strong, it got even targeted enchantment removal!! also i will not be afraid to draft mardu if i get nahiri. Good stuff, thanks for the info!
Can I ask for advice here? I keep trying to ready myself for the prerelease on draftsim, and obviously in sealed archetypical synergistic decks don't always work out. Sometimes some colors get amazing tribal payoffs, but not enablers, while othes have a lot of cards with little to no synergy between them. How do you determine what deck to build?
This is where building a sealed deck is like an art form and more enjoyable to some players, and it is certainly difficult. You usually have to weigh so many options and then come to the optimal choice. I like to start with getting a feel for which color combo has the best mix of bombs and removal. You’re not going to win many games if you don’t have bombs of your own and ways to deal with your opponent’s. If that doesn’t make it clear then I check out which colors have the best mana curve or higher card quality. One way to check this all out may be watching some streams of the set on Arena before going to a prerelease as well. Experience and playing more will definitely help you feel more comfortable when building decks, so look at each event as a learning experience more than anything.
I wouldn't disagree just on what green does in this set, but in general Golgari is the 1/1 counter archetype, especially when you look at the black cards. The 1/1 counters being quite common in green means any archetypes with green can lean into it. This set has been so fun because the power of your deck comes from finding those strong synergies and it doesn't have to be the same gameplan everytime.
I'm looking forward to some of the Dimir Rogue Mill cards for my Ashiok Standard Deck. I normally don't play Mill, ( I'm not great at it) but I can be fun with an aggro twist.
xDNRx my favorite one got upgraded to commander in paper, but at least Arena makes the deck building/taking apart quite easy. You getting to a prerelease?
@@MountainManMagic I wish, my LGS is still a bit worried. I think the "community" has kept them afloat quite well. LoL God knows I have. I did end up getting a "Regular" Draft box, cause they aren't selling Boxes of The "Set" Boxes, just a limit of x3 per person. Boo,... FOMO is Real.
@@MountainManMagic Hoping the store down here has a prerelease! They have regular events going on so I'm pretty sure they will. But it's not out of the realm of possibility that all the college students coming from out of state won't ruin that
That's a good question, but one I don't put much stock in since sealed is almost always about playing what your card pool supports best. With that said, I think Blue Green, White Black, and Black Green look strong and well supported. Mill I think will be good if the player has enough big butts and mill crabs, and if I were to go aggro I think White Green looks like a fun option too.
@@MountainManMagic I haven't heard many people call it that, but I really like the name, and since we don't have an "official" name, I thought that "Cassette Lands" would fit
I think Rakdos is the strongest aggro color pair for what it's worth, and its focus on party/warrior synergies seem fun. This set does seem "underpowered" but I don't mind it at all and am excited to see how limited feels.
@@MountainManMagic in terms of raw power, gruul seems to be bringing it, but dimir rogues has so much going for it, I really think it's gonna shine. All in all, I'm super excited too. Just not for poor rakdos lol 🤣
Not bad but i dont think this is THAT helpful because sealed is about commons and key uncommons, of course on color bomb rares and mythics are good but knowing commons is most important, and some of those cards u shown are really really not good, example red 2 mana removal that hits only creature that blocked... real trash card.
That's the glory of sealed - you don't get to pick what cards are in your pool. So, if that's my only red removal spell...well yeah, it's bad, but it's better than nothing. If this were a draft guide (coming soon), then that card is not one you're excited to play over others in the set.
