Zeolite group of Minerals 

Zeolites: Tekto silicates (SiO2) Froth or boil up on heating.
Zeolites (Latin zein= to boil; lithos= stones
Special properties like cation exchange capacity (Ca2+ → 2Na+)
In Industry minerals possessing cation exchange capacity have great use.
Possess zeolitic water .Zeolitic water can be expelled from the mineral without disturbing the structure. In minerals like Mica, Amphibole etc structural water is present.It can be noted that the composition of zeolites is similar to that of most clay minerals. For example, both mineral clays and zeolites are known to be alumino-silicate compounds.
However, it is important to note that zeolites do not have the same crystal structures as most mineral clays. Hydrated aluminosilicates of sodium, potassium and calcium with other alkali and alkali earth such as Ba, Sr.
