I'm leaving this comment here as a reminder to my kids when they grow up that this is the initial Kenyan song to gain global popularity, transcending borders and languages
1st of all its not really kenyan as the song belongs to Zerb who is featuring a Kenyan singer...secondly we have songs that have international appeal like "Haba haba" by Stella Mwangi etc
Hearing this song yesterday for the first time, on vacation in Croatia from my German friends, as a Kenyan Kikuyu girl is the best thing ever....its now on repeat🤣😂....am obsessed!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
I heard it today for the first time in my car. Turned up the volume...!! Great!!!!! I love it. - A middle aged man enjoying great music. I hope more like this will be made!
Leaving a comment to remind all Kenyans to be more welcoming of our own talent and thanking Zerb for putting Sofiya on the map. Kenya is blessed with so many incredible vocalists and Sofiya is just a tip of the iceberg. My prayer is to see Kenyans paying attention to what we have and stop platforming mediocre nonsense. Anyway, for more Kenyan vocalists in the electronic music scene, check out Nes Mburu, Idd Aziz, and Vivian Olang' as well.
Don't mind me, I'm just an ordinary South African 🇿🇦here to show love and appreciation for Kenya 🇰🇪 I heard this song for the first time today, I'm sure I played it more than 20 times already. It's just too good!! 🔥🔥🔥👌
When I first heard this in my car via Radio 1 in the UK, I nearly blew my speakers up!! Africa is a feeling, that's for sure. My soul sings. How I miss that continent! 🦋🧡
I heard this song on radio Hamburg (Germany 🇩🇪 )some 4 days ago and I was like wait, I've heard this song before and this is definitely Kikuyu. I felt so proud of my country 🇰🇪 music being played in a German radio 🫡
I heard my 40 year old aunt humming this song to herself. She's Kikuyu, she knows nothing about EDM but, the local radio stations in the village have this on loop. Maahn... goosebumps.
@@ZerbMusic This is one of the best songs ever in the last 14 years!! Congrats, man! I fall in love with it, i heard it on new year's eve party and someone's car a few months ago and since then i've been looking for it, today i discovered it! Much love from Romania!! Keep going!
Europe here !! This song hits different , it’s something that can’t get out from the brain once you listened to it !! No matter of your skin colour , shape of eyes , religion , be proud of yourself !!! Music brings us together , no matter of the culture that we are borned in !!
@@mumbisandtmann8931 u c how this song is taking us to new heights….n I honestly don’t understand the language but it’s on repeat since I came to my home country Mauritius 🥰🥰
My 70 yr old Mum heard this on the radio in Germany, being a Kikuyu Lady, it really made her day and she loves listening to this song! Love you Ma ❤ keep grooving and dancing!
This makes me so proud as a Kenyan but mostly as a Kikuyu woman😅❤..In it's simple words it addresses deep cultural practices done and expected of women....to get married and leave your father's compound....(This song says this girl's strict father told her not to marry her suitor but now he's angry to see her in his compound and tells her she has to leave) "nu uthamire" (itabidi uhame) (you have to leave)and he gets really angry .... Wueh the trueness in that statement...😮most women have been through this...primitive mindsets and practices....
@@sampharusmulasa6699 Are you surprised? Most of them are which is why it's difficult for Kenya to go forward as a nation. A very retrogressive mindset instilled since childhood in the so called 'mountain'.
@@realalchemist7206I dnt see anything wrong with celebrating individual ethnicities. Our country is full of diverse ethnic groups and that's what makes Kenya and Africa at large beautiful. Having lived in SA I saw they celebrate their individual ethnicities as well as the Rainbow nation South Africa. A Zulu or Xhosa will be proud of a song sang in their mother tongue and that doesn't mean they are tribal. They recognise and appreciate their community as well their nationality. It's only in Kenya when a Kikuyu, Luo, Maasai, Luhya etc celebrate their language or at large their culture we call it tribalism. I dnt deny there is tribalism but Africa is beautiful because of these beautiful languages. I am proud to be Kikuyu and a Kenyan. Just like every other Kenyan should be proud of their ethnic community and being Kenyan. Even in the UK they are proud to be Scots, English, Welsh etc. Why should we not be proud too.
I was in Ghana in 1998. Fantastic experience ! Everybody must go to Africa once in their lives. Tro Tros, Cape Coast and Elmina castles, Kumasi, Mole Game Reserve, etc. Maybe Kenya is next on my list.
Never in my entire life have I been more excited to see a music video to a song, Not only has it brought so much joy to so many people. This really is a true Example that music connects us all! So happy for the both of you for connecting so many people with the power of music❤ This was absolutely 🔥🔥🔥🔥
An outdoor music shoot with Africa's true greatness in environment, cultural dance moves, colourfulness and our own language. A touch of Kenya🇰🇪 and Africa🌍 music to the world🎼🎼🎼
Nooit gedacht dat ik een liedje in het Kikuyu zou tegenkomen in de Nederlandse hitlijsten. En dan ook nog eens in Hell's gate opgenomen! Wat mij betreft één van de mooiste plekken in Kenia
I'm proud to be a Ugandan who once lived in Kenya for five years and then here I am in Germany. Hearing this song everyday on 1live makes me have goosebumps
No colours, no races, harmony and peace! Greetings from Bucharest! I lived all my life here but after this song I feel that a part of me is African too, damn, the power of a great song!
Even though I didn’t understand the language, the music moved me deeply. The melody is captivating, and the artist’s energetic and eclectic vocal style shines through in every note. The blend of beats creates a beautiful harmony that transcends any language barrier. It’s incredible how music can connect us all, regardless of the words. This song is a testament to the universal power of music to evoke feelings and bring people together from different cultures
Remarkable 🇰🇪🔥🔥🔥🔥 Kenyan music is about to take over by a storm ,in Africa they afraid to give us the platforms coz they know of the capability we have, the attention is going to shift towards kenyan music industry mark my words.
