Question of the day: Have you tried a hybrid style garden hose and how much are you willing to spend on it? What one do you like? Have you tried the Zero G Hose? What are your experiences?
flexzilla hybrid polymer. lightest hose i've used and has good pressure but has a bit of twisting resistance when using with a wand at certain angles. metal hoses would be the perfect hose if they actually had decent pressure. im still searching for a 3/4" hose that's not super stiff. i just ordered this hose in the meantime and judging by the video, it seems to have all the characteristics of a hose that im looking for. Thanks for the review and update!
My zero-G hose has worked well over the years, but recently the end flew off of it (I guess from the force of the water). I tried putting on a new male end (an Orbit hose mender), but it isn't working right (it's leaking a lot). You mentioned in this video that this hose cannot be repaired. Is this true? Is this due to the type of material that the hose is made out of? Maybe those hose menders are only for rubber and vinyl hoses? Any information that you can give me would be awesome. Thank you!!
Yes, punctures easily. No good. Qvc has a metal flex tubing that has been amazing so far. I am done with HD and Lowes products. They companies change color of the hoses every week or two so the item number changes and even uf you have a receiot the item numbwr isn't there. Great scam if your destiny is hell.
I have a 100 ft zero g hose that I've had for over 5 years. It has been the perfect hose ever since I bought it. I also own a 30-footer and two other hundred footers. This is without a doubt the best hose I've ever seen in my life. You get what you pay for.
I had the same Zero G hose, 5 year warranty. Sprung a leak 2 weeks before the warranty expired so it lasted 4 yrs. 11 months and worked great and the Teknor company paid me the money I initially paid for it. So not a bad deal. I wouldn't buy thinking they'll last forever anyway.
Iam a house painter and I do alot of pressure washing for prep , I have tried every hose on the market ,this hose is the best well worth the money it runs my 4k psi pressure washer no problem I have had it 3 years also and it stores easily in a 5 gallon pail , I have 2 100 ft sections I keep in a pail easy storage and it doesn't tangle or keinke up
I've noticed that this hose allows more water to flow through, compared to other hybrid hoses. Thanks for sharing, I'm testing a pressure washer in the spring.
I've got three of them, longer than 3 years now. No leaks or busts. I love how easy they are to wind or unwind to use. Kink free and handles like a rope when not under pressure. The only problem is, if you leave it connected too long to your spigot, the threads will literally weld together because of being two different metals. Once I finally got it unscrewed from my house, I installed a "quick connect" fitting to it. I like the quick connects anyways and have them on every connection around my house. I give the hose 5 stars because all three have held up over all this time. This is NOT the infomercial hose that shrinks when pressure is removed. It doesn't shrink, but simply goes flat and becomes easy to handle, pretty much like a rope like I mentioned earlier.
Rocky77340 what kind of quick connect do you use? So thankful you explained the “welding together” because that’s what has prevented me from getting one of these.
@@suep4999 I bought my quick connects at McCoys Lumber Co. and I believe their brand is Nelson, but not sure, but here's an Amazon link to the same type of quick connect... www.amazon.com/dp/B002J0PMOS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_IshaFbQ7BEMQ5
I bought a Copper Bullet Pocket Hose 5 years ago and I brought it into my basement after each use and it still blew out this year when I hooked it up for the first time. So I am looking for something else and might give this a shot. I do have 3 Neverkink 75' and 100' hoses I use, just the Pocket Hose was easy to use and lightweight when empty. Just an FYI Neverkink hose is a LIE, they still kink, all 3 of mine do and even more often when it's hot outside and hose is heated up from the sun.
I have a 100ft one (believe it's the same got it at Costco looks identical). On my second summer with it use it a few times a week for sprinklers. It's great, but it does kink a bit and my only gripe is you have to unroll the whole thing to use it. Nice and light though and been shocked it hasn't broke. No leaks either. I'm happy with it for that application.
Thanks for the response! I have mine stored on a hose holder on the side of the deck. I can take a few off to just use some of it. I do notice that it may kink slightly, but not shut off the water entirely, like the Goodyear hybrid hose does.
I LOVE this hose. READ THE BOTTOM of the box it comes in. It is recommended you disconnect and reconnect the hose from the faucet a minimum of three times a year. This helps maintain a proper seal. Important to read Warranty on bottom of the box as well.
The best hose that I've ever owned is a 50 ft Flexon that I bought from Walmart for $15, 17 years ago. I bought three of them and all three are still being used without a single problem and they hardly ever kink
Just bought mine last week. I work for HVAC and do Residential and got tired of toting around a big hose for washing out condensers. This hose is perfect for the job. Spent $36 at Lowes for a 50 Footer
Awesome! Be sure to do it once every 6 months to keep the coils clean from debri and insects and i have to say it is a great hose! So much easier, i have a mega shark clamp to clip the hose together till im ready. So much lighter. Thanks for the review 🤘💯
I use it to wash my car. I have a 25 ft. but I wish I had gotten a longer one. I’ve had it for around a year and still no leaks. I hardly use it though. Overall I am satisfied with my hose.
@@MarkThomasBuilder Looking at the blue RV hose for our camper. So sick of trying to wind that stiff one. Ugh! I'm going to get it before our next time camping! Tell your wife we said hi!!
Thanks for your review helpful I just purchased this from my local Lowe's store yesterday and tried it out for the first time today I'm very impressed with it I hope it holds up like yours did
I have 2-50' Zero G water hoses for several years or more now and I like them (no leakage at all). They are light and easy to carry around. I can quickly wrap them up for storage or throw them in the pickup and keep it moving. The only problem I have with them is they don't provide enough volume to feed my 4 gpm pressure washer (was getting cavitation) when compared to my other similar sized water hose. These hose make using a hose end sprayer around the yard a lot less challenging because of the light weight and flexibility. I guess I would need to step up to the 3/4" version to satisfy my PW. These are great hoses other than the issue with the PW.
I agree with all that you said. The Zero G puts out more water than most hybrid pocket hoses. I'd like to see more GPM as well for my pressure washer as well.
I had this hose for a year and it leaked badly about a foot from where it attached to the faucet. The company sent me a new one, and that is still working a few years later. However, I found it kinked very badly until I learned the over/under method of coiling which prevents it from twisting when its unrolled. That was like a miracle. Then I bought the Flexzilla hose, which I actually like much better than the Zero G.
I have a short Flexzilla lead-in hose which works well. I have one of their air hoses that works nice too. Today, I picked up the Bionic Hose to test out. It has good reviews, but I have no idea if it's any good or not. My review on that will be out this week.
I like my zero g hose but after 2 years it has started to spring a small leak, not at the ends but about at the half way point, I shall buy again as it is so easy to use and move around.
A few hours ago, I ordered the 50' Zero-G hose from Northern Tool & Equipment online for pickup at the local store. I signed up to get their e-mails and got $5 off the price of the hose which made it $5 cheaper than any place I found. I ended up paying $31.98 and picked it up in less than an hour. Lowes carries this brand, but all sizes were SOLD OUT at the nearest 10 Lowes locations. I even tried Ebay, but couldn't get delivery for 1-2 weeks. Good luck finding this great product. I have one that's just over 3 years old and still works great. My cheap expandable blew a hole and I'm tired of replacing them. You'll pay a little more for the Zero-G product, but will save in the end. Commercial over....where's my money.
Zero G Hose ... There is a 5 year warranty Contact company have a pix of receipt and they will send u a new replacement The company has replaced damaged hose ... comes to u within a week I’m a car detailer and abuse hoses throughout 15 years This company stands behind their product Love this hose.. I have 2 fifty foot and 100 foot hose Many of my customers have also bought this hose Best hose on market... highly recommended
I have the same water hose. 5 years old still using it to water my garden. I live in TX so it is hot out there and it is also cold in winter. The hose stays outside the whole 5 years under 100 degree sun, or heavy rain, or snowing winter.
@@MarkThomasBuilder they have upgraded their hose where you said it was leaking. Now they added a grip holder. You may check it out when you go to Lowe’s. I bought another shorter one recently for my pressure washer that’s how I found out about the new upgrade
Only use on the exterior of our rv for washing. Would never use for fresh water supply to the rv due to mold growing inside both my Zero G hoses. Big problem with no remedy. Use the Camco Pure for your fresh water.
Thanks for the update on this product. I was looking at one of these at Costco, but wanted to check out product reviews prior to purchasing one. If the ends were made of brass instead of aluminum there would not be any problems with corrosion when it is attached to a hose bib or any other device. Aluminum threads also tend to gall (compared to brass).
I have 2 of these hose for about 2 years now. I LOVE but one of them the male end became disconnected for whatever reason. It’s unrepairable, I’ve bought several different replacement nozzles. Going to Lowe’s to get the replacement today. Thanks for you video.
Thank you SO much for this video. It's a diamond in the rough. Every hose I've had for 24 years has kinked and leaked. I bought a supposed commercial grade hose from Northern tool. It kinks and because the material is so thick on the OUTSIDE and it kinks even worse. I'll try this for sure.
Mine leaked right out of the box at the nozzle end...if they don’t leak as soon as you get them they are solid but it’s a crap shoot on getting one that doesn’t leak
I have 4 Zero G hoses. Really like them for ala the reasons you mentioned. However I had one that did leak at the connection. I call tell you this that Zero G does not stand behind their hoses. Was a waste of time trying to get a replacement.
Huh, that too bad they don't stand behind them. I've seen their pro model that has a long warranty, like 7 years. It sound's like it's not worth going to that one...
If it was leaking in the proximity of the fitting, did you try a different gasket? Some hose threads will bottom out on the spigots before the gasket even begins to seat. Not all of those gaskets are the same thickness. Inexpensive little trial if you still have it. 😁
I also thought that the Zero G was a marvelous hose; lightweight, tough, easy to use. But after 6 months the business ends of both hoses leaked like sieves! At first I figured it was the nozzle coupling...better, more washers, etc. Nothing worked. Then the aha! moment. I could see the water escaping at the joint of the hose and its own hardware. I do have high water pressure, so to anyone whose pressure is high? don't buy this hose!
My pressure is average. The commercial building I work at has high pressure and I've seen it blow up a Pocket Hose very easy. I've used my Zero-G there before and it held up. It was only a couple times though.
Thank you, I have been shopping for hoses and this is zero-g is the only one I have found that does not have a constricted opening at the connector of less than a quarter inch, which completely negates the flow rate of the hose along it's length.
I agree with the need to have an opening that's not constricted. I think my Karcher pressure washer doesn't work to full capacity when using the other Pocket Hoses.
Thanks, I was going to buy one for the RV. However, I had a bad experience with a similar hose and didn't want to spend $60 on one that would last a week.
You're welcome. They make a skinnier hose which is for a patio or RV. I bought it 5 months ago and it works well. I think it's even drinking water safe.
That's too bad that it sprang a leak, but hopefully it's under warranty. Mine doesn't kink much, but the bigger pro hose does. If I hook these hoses at my work where there's 60psi of pressure, the hoses never kink.
I wish I would have seen this video. I bought that Silver Bullet pocket hose piece of crap. My Silver Bullet last a little longer than your Silver Bullet. Mine beat yours by one day. That's right a week and a day. It formed a littIle blister and started leaking. I did buy the Zero G and it is warranteed for 5 years, but be sure to keep your receipt and the stated warranty along with the bar code. The Zero G has metal connections on both ends and rated at 600 plus psi, and the Silver bullet has metal on one end and plastic on the other. It's about 10 dollars more at Lowe's, but worth it. I don't like the idea that both ends aren't easily, if at all repairable. I see there is a video saying there is a repair that can be made to any of these hoses. The Silver Bullet says to let the water out and and store inside after use. I see on the tag on your hose, it says to store indoors. Now who is going to do that? I don''t see any sense in a collapsing hose, because you damn sure can't put it in your pocket afterwards. The Zero G does not shrink down if you turn off the water. There is no warranty time specified on the Silver Bullet. In case you think I just got a bad one, guess again. The Silver Bullet evidently has a high store return rate. Of course an exaggeration, the lady at returns said everbody is returning them.
I haven't found a hybrid style garden hose that's better than this one. I have a new Bionic Flex hose to try out soon. I bought it just to see what it can do.
Connecting the aluminum fitting to a brass spigot may cause the dissimilar metals to bond together. This happened to my elderly mother, I tried pliers, channel locks and finally decided to cut it off, but in the mean time she wanted a new spigot and she called a plumber.
@@MarkThomasBuilderThe plumber was able to get the hose off, I must have loosened it for him, lol. She still uses the hose but now has a plastic adapter connecting it to the spigot. Only thing is, she has a brass sprayer, not sure if that is gonna come off.
Who doesn’t want a lighter hose to haul around the yard? PROBLEM but not a game changer is 1. It doesn’t hold enough pressure to clean your gutters when you pull it up onto the roof. 2. The threads on the hose end are aluminum and easily cross thread when applying a hose end sprayer. Take care to only HAND TIGHTEN an accessory on those threads. They aren’t strong like metal and next thing you know your hose end sprayer has seized itself onto the end. Better love that hose end sprayer for that hose cause you ain’t getting it off!!
Somewhere I did a test of the water flow to fill a 5 gallon bucket. I recall comparing the time of this to a 5/8 traditional hose and it was similar in time. There's a few other hoses that are 1/2" and the volume of water is visibly decreased. I haven't had any issues with this hose leaking or seizing up at the connections.
I have only had my zero G for 2 months, and it leaks bad, I have changed the washer where it connects to the water spigot, it constantly drips! I have tried almost every make and model and cannot find one that does not drip. Even the nozzle, every single nozzle drips, CAN SOMEONE TELL ME A HOSE AND NOZZLE THAT WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT DRIP??????? I will pay the cost if its true.
No, I wish there was. 3 years on a hybrid garden hose is pretty average from what I've heard. Mine is sill holding up, but I'd buy another if it broke.
I have one of 100 ft long. I'm having a hard time to nicely put it away. Once it's coiled it's still pretty heavy to carry around. I'm tempted to cut it in 1/2 and put ends on it but like you said the ends aren't replaceable. I don't want to be lugging a huge garden hose reel for something meant to be compact. Any suggestion to manage this hose for easy quick way to gather and put away?
I have had my zeroG hose for about three years and I really like it because it is so light weight but it started leaking and we pulled the black thing down because it was NOT LEAKING at the faucet and where it is put together it is leaking and I assume it cannot be repaired.
Where did you get the attachments on the hose it looks red and gray, and you had the one on the faucet it had the three necks where you could add more then one hose at the same time what are the names? Better yet here are the video numbers of the ones that I would like. The first one starts at 3:01, the second one 3:05, and the last one is 3:29. Thank-you for your time and help markthomasbuilder..
I just added the links to the video description. They don't appear to make the 2 way divider but have a 4 way, which may come in handy. The red & grey sprayer is great for when I do paint cleanups.
Thank-you sir for getting back to me, but I think that I am going to give the TBI Pro Garden Hose Expandable- Superior Strength 3750D / 4-Layers a try which can be found on Amazon. I am going to see how good this one is first. Thank-you very much for get back to me. I still want the attachments anyway.
Looks like a good hose. The only thing I've found is that the style of hose your looking at tends to shrink when you're spraying water, unlike the Zero G.
@@MarkThomasBuilder Yeah but the Zero-G hose is a rubber coating and it's heavy and hard to store, where as the TPI pro is a light weight hose and it srink and easy to put away when you let the pressure of the water out.. I am going to give the TPI pro a shot. Again thank you for your time.
I might have missed it, but does it work with a pressure washer? Most of those retractable hoses don't play well with them.. thanks for the video, awesome puppy! 😁👍👌✌
@@MarkThomasBuilder awesome! Thanks for getting back man. I'm always trying to find the perfect hose that's light weight and quick and easy to setup and pack out for mobile detailing. 👍👌
Yes, it's still going strong. I also recently reviewed a new hose by the same company called the Synergy. It's slightly different, but another good choice.
I'm sure a dog could easily chew a hole in this. I have mine laying on the ground for the past few months and my puppy lab hasn't gone after it yet. He seems to chew on everything though, including my son's new Airpods.
Good question. The Zero-G is my favorite so far. I've had some sent to me to test out and I also purchase some to see how they compare. I have another one to test later this month, so please subscribe.
markthomasbuilder That’s fair. We had one similar, but with a coating like the Flexilla, but all the expanding and contracting led to lots of small cuts by our quartz rocks. Ultimately the ends is where they failed. These don’t seem to share that type of connection, or coating.
Do not agree I know many people who are dissatisfied with their zero G as am I. The joint to the connector leak, many of them so I call BS on this one.
e recovered .i have have had two of the ZERO_G hoses that didn't get completely and they froze and when I went to use next time it pours water through the slit in the plastic I hope to find a way to rejoin the ends so I don't lose the hose. something that inserts in each end and then put hose clamps on either side! Any ideas?
I have decent water pressure at my house and that helps it from kinking. The place I work has 60psi and other hoses that kink never kink there. You're water pressure may be the reason.
I've tried several hoses like this one and while some are close, nothing is quite as good. I'd be curious to know what brand you have. Maybe it's just as good and I haven't come across it yet.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I bought it 2 years ago I can't remember the brand but it's great, I have moved homes twice since I got it and it still works just as well, the only downside is that it doesn't do good in the cold
Someone here said they have to unroll the whole hose just to use it, did you have the same experience? Care to elaborate on that? I would like to keep some of the hose coiled around a hanger while I'm using only the length necessary, like my old hose
I've had this hose draped loosely over a hose hanger and I've been able to use 15' of it to water my plants. This is the best hybrid style garden hose out there. I just bought the pro version, which is 3/4" and is bright green in color. My review will be out soon.
What brand of Y adapter do you have on your house? I tried to zoom in on the video but couldn't make out the name. I like those valves versus the normal twist ball valve.
It took me a few minutes to find it, but here's an Amazon link... amzn.to/2WSZ4Cu It's one of my favorite nozzles. I especially like it for cleanup after painting.
I'm on well water with about 40psi. I'be been using this hose at work recently, where it's hooked up to 60psi city water. It's holding up well to the higher pressure.
I have a three-quarter inch zero g hose how do you get the loops out of the hose after you turn it on and it's full of water the hose just will not stay straight
Does this hose have a pressure regulator in it because I just bought a hydrotech hose from Home Depot and it was horrible I could probably spit more water than this hose is putting out I'm hesitant on buying another hose like that.
No, you will get good flow with this one. If you want the maximum volume, check out the Zero G Pro 3/4" hose. It's more money but the best one out there if you want a good amount of volume to go through. Overall, I'm sure you'll be happy with the regular Zero G.
@@MarkThomasBuilder Do you have the Pro version, if so, are the connectors the cheap brass plated over aluminum? I say, I can hardly respect a company which boast Pro, with pro pricing, yet uses plated brass over aluminum. After some use you can see the threads start to bind.
I don't have one. I think I read somewhere online that they have a brass insert, to prevent the corrosion with aluminum. You'll have to fact check that to be sure.
The hose inside the sleeve doesn't really move like some of the other expandable hoses. I'm planning on making a video featuring all 3 types of Zero-G hoses and I'll try and show a little more on that.
@@MarkThomasBuilder thanks for the feedback! I only mention the one I linked because a lot of these style hoses tend to leak or tear, but I haven't tested this one. Good to know. I had one similar to this which busted but it was cheap lol.
Do not trust this guy, he must be get paid from Zero -G hose company. I bought my 100ft Zero-G hose about less than 2 years and leak near the male connection. Also, it does kink if not rolled up without any twisting.
I can honestly say that I bought this hose with my own money. This is not a sponsored video. I even went on to buy their 75' pro hose last summer and their 25' patio hose. This is my favorite brand and I'm sorry to hear you haven't had a great experience with them.
Off off to pocket hose and Pocket hose bullet. bullet. They only lasted 1 year. They started ripping and popping And in the material on the outside those. Can I store outside in Direct sunlight?
