I tried it using sand and pot I put damp sand below the pot and put vegetables inside the pot.... But all my vegetables decayed Can you help me with this

Well they are bargaining for buying and they will sell it at a higher price in the City.

Go to a nearby market..buy two non glazed clay vessels which fits inside of the other and a clay lid to cover the top..fill in between the vessels with river sand or any construction sand..soak the sand with water. Make sure there is no leakage in the inner vessel. Fill the vegetable inside the inner container.close it with lid .it should work good..

If someone inspired near to you then it will available to you also.......???

Not tried it my self. I live in an apartment..its a very old way of storing. Nowadays fridge and freezers are available.the technology has improved. Other than the curiosity value, nothing much is gained .ice boxes also helps now a days..

Actually, they did not explain the science at all so I’m not sure why you think the science is “wrong”. In any case the science behind this is basically the evaporative cooling effect: the same principle used in a swap coolers. When water changes state from a liquid to a gas it requires energy to do so, and it gets that energy by absorbing heat from the surrounding environment. Since the clay is very porous the water wicks its way throughout the outer wall of the pot where it can then easily evaporate into the surrounding air which in turn drops the temperature of the pot and thereby the air and water inside the pot as well. Of course, unlike a modern refrigerator freezer which can drop the internal temperature by 100 degrees, evaporative cooling can only lower the temperature by 15 to 20 degrees. So, if its 80 degrees inside your house your vegetables in the pot might be kept and 60 to 65 degrees at best. And of course, evaporative cooling only works efficiently in a relatively dry climate. By the way I’m not quite sure what you mean by “cold molecules”. First of all, everything is made up of molecules, including the clay, the water, and the air inside the pot. But naturally only the molecules in the air and water can rise and fall. Secondly, cold is simply the relative absence of heat and is not a thing itself. It is true of course that hot air rises, which of course means that molecules of air rise and cooler ones fall, and this is known as convection. However, since the walls of the pot maintain a pretty uniform temperature, it would not make a huge difference having the water on top - although they do make larger square units with a door in the front and the water reservoir on top.

I'm going to visit Menards and see if a suitable set of clay pottery is available in the garden center. I already make and use Mexican design ollas in my garden for watering the vegetable plants I grow. A clay "refrigerator" in the pantry seems like a good idea. But it probably won't work as well in a humid environment since the design works via evaporation. I will still give it a try.

You are overcomplicating things. These unglazed pots most likely work with the evaporation cooling effect and they do what they are supposed to. It's s simple design. Doing it your way would propably triple the price. It has to be affordable and, more important, craftable for the poeple there.

@@CD-kg9by I only gave a very "scientific" approach to the natural fridge. explaining the logic of cooling. I did not tell them to actually manufacture my idea. Even with their simple design a little bit of tweaking will make it a better fridge if only the pot to hold vegetables is somehow placed at the bottom of the pot instead of at the top. the best part is that it is a clay model which is very easy to modify.
