A terrific job here by ZT, personal preference on hardware color is the only debatable issue I got. Something I left out in the comparison differences between the 0801 and the Custom Singularity are that the Singularity most of the time has a backspacer whereas the 0801 has standoffs.
Also neglected to show even more positives about the 0801 in that it has a Steel Lockbar Insert and a built in overtravel stop in the Insert (Two great pluses on a knife at this price point) And it is a Premium Steel in Elmax especially if heat treat is done right.

Interesting to hear, the closing has gotten better over time, however it is still not super smooth all the way through like my 0561 is. Lockbar tension is solid on mine, but nothing overly dramatic I would say. Waiting on my Spyderco Domino to come in and see how it stacks up against this 0801. Thanks for the comment

You've been churnin out some good vids man! Keep it up! My 801 should be here monday. Im debating milling the handle where the slits and are and carbon scaling it. Must take measurements first though. Also interested to see if ZT fixed their elmax issues.

Congrats on the 801, the action really is terrific on it, I hear ya on the milled out slits, I gues ZT just likes to add some kind of 3 dimensionality to the knives, a CF front scale on top of milled out titanium would look sweet. The camera I use is a Sony Cyber Shot DSC-WX50 (HD and 16.2 Mega Pixels).

Thanks for the info, I'm not sure if its the detent or the pivot being a little too tight, now though its haveing less and less resistance when closing so it may just be working itself in.

Hmm, mine is still at the same lockup that it was when I first got it, I have not tried to excert a great deal of effort to physically push the lockbar over on this knife or any other knife I own, and am not sure why one would try to do that. I would think it is more easily possible to do that with a titanium lockbar against a steel blade then one with a steel lockbar insert on a steel blade like this one, however I am sure it also makes a difference how radiused the tang is too.

Could be the screw that holds the lock bar insert.

Mine is stiff when closing just like yours. And the lock bar seem to have a ton of tension on it

Hey man just thought id let you know, just got my 801 and I dont have any of those detent issues that you do. With the pivot perfectly adjusted gravity will shut the knife and have no blade play. Alexanderdietz had an issue with his 801 dtent if I remember correctly, ask him about it maybe it will help you out

Yep, I think when first released they were going as high as $259. Definitely a deal now for anything under $160 with these materials, precisions, and performance.

Just like anything that's been on the market for awhile the price drops as newer models come out... same knifes that cost $250 now will be $150 to eventually

price might have dropped but it's still a great model... just picked up the 0801 blk $155!!!
