For reference members who knew each other before Boys Planet: Gyuvin, Ricky, Hao, and Yujin (Yuehua trainees aka Hao’s babies like they’re his SONS he did NOT play about them in boys planet and he’s cute now, but the clear death stares he’d give the Mentors when they were too harsh on Gyuvin and Yujin especially?? like he didn’t even try to hide it.) Matthew and Hanbin (bffs and met as Cube trainees before both of them left they’re not in the same company but they’ve been bffs since. They joined Boys Planet together and Hanbin cried when Matthew performed his introduction stage 💔)
its kinda funny bc Hao is definitely Yuehuaz leader, but then also the princess of the group lmao. the duality is real. like I wouldn't have guessed on BP that he'd be one of the most naturally cute of the group ..... and I even think the younger members baby him a little more than a typical hyung dynamic 😂
I see many people have already talked about the age gap thing. Just wanted to add on that fans were actually really glad that yujin debuted with jiwoong as the oldest member in the group. They have been in 3 of the missions together in boys planet and throughout the show you can see how close they become. Jiwoong has always been an older sibling figure for yujin and is extremely protective about him. There was once an instance in the show, where yujin was low on confidence as the mentors were criticising him all the time. At that point his teammates, where jiwoong was the leader made it their sole purpose to bring back his confidence (taerae was in the same team as well). So i think rather than awkwardness its more of a relief that yujin who is so young, debuted with someone like jiwoong who has been in the industry for long and can act as a support system for him. (Other members as well) Lmao also Zhang Hao is actually really good at korean, so the members are not letting him pass just like that. Its just that they like teasing jiwoong more since he is the oldest one, so they always target him in such games where there is a penalty. Its all friendly banter.
Jiwoong and Yujin were always roomates in Boys planets and were pretty close considering their age gap and the amount of people their ages on the show. Even after debut the two of them are still roommates and i think that out of everyone especially those who didn’t know each other before Boys Planet, they’ve built a long-lasting relationship even post disbandment. Like Jiwoong has always gone out of his way to reach out to Yujin, so it doesn’t feel like they were randomly put together and forced to debut with someone that much younger than them. Also what i like about ZB1 is that yes the age gap between Jiwoong and Yujin is too big but they’re pretty much evenly spread out. Like sure Jiwoong and Yujin have completely different lifestyles but Jiwoong has Hao who’s 2 years younger than him and Yujin has Gunwook who’s 2 years older than him. Like Gunwook, Gyuvin, Ricky, and Yujin are still close enough in age where they can easily relate with each other and be comfortable. While Jiwoong, Hao, Hanbin, Matthew, and Taerae also share similarities in lifestyle and experiences. So it’s not like either of them are completely isolated from finding people with like-minds and maturity. I would have more discomfort if their ages were more spaced out but i feel like they’re pretty evenly distributed even though it’s across 9 years but when you think that there’s 9 people, Jiwoong and Yujin don’t have to be like-minded to be close because there’s 7 other people closer to their ages respectively for that. They can still just have the Older Brother-Younger Brother dynamic that they adopted in Boys Planet when they weren’t even required to be around each other.
Didn't mention the fact that Yujin has always said that their mental age is the same and how he doesn't feel the age gap between them at all. Jiwoong is also agreed with him about the mental age. They do have older brother younger brother dynamic sometimes but mostly their dynamic is same age siblings/best friends/mental age twins
The age gap in ZB1 is actually great. Yujin is baby-ed by everyone (they literally call themselves his parents every 5 secs lol) to the point where in behinds Yujin is usually being held by someone, it's really cute. And Jiwoong gets along with him really well, he's a reliable brother at times and a playful friends at others. Yujin has even said himself that he doesn't feel the age difference. Last week Jiwoong's show had Yujin as a guest, you should watch it!! It shows their chemistry perfectly. Also, Hao is our princess hahah
i'll probably be joining the patreon for more zb1 content :) also some of the jokes from dope club might be hard to understand because the mc was actually one of the judges on boys planet so they know each other and reference things from the show a lot, it should be fine though and is one of my favorite dope club episodes!
