Mayyy or may not have forgotten to post this a couple of hours ago. Whoops! Anyway this one is a really great adventure. When I look back on my time in this game both Thebes and Argos kind of go in a blurr but Athens is where it really begins. Love this place!

Btw WP, what are you using to up the resolution? I know theres a few ways to

Just the bog standard patch (I think hosted on nexus, but several other places) set to 1280x720. I know it's kinda low but that res is only sliiiightly higher than the highest one natively supported, so felt the most "authentic" while also being the right aspect ratio for YT.

"What in the Hades is going on in Athens? Potatyphus just demolished his people's homes and rebuilt them a stone's throw to the left?" "My Lord, I do not know, but Potatyphus the Mad followed that up by calling down fire from the heavens, capriciously immolating a great many goats." "..." "..." "We *might* be less likely to get fireballed if we're his vassals. We will go prostrate ourselves before His Erraticness immediately."

Pasiphae and the Minotaur is a fun one. Minos had a bull that was supposed to be sacrificed to Poseidon but Minos kept it anyway because it was such a nice bull, so the god got angry and cursed minos wife to fall in love with the beast. Which led her to commission Daedalus to construct an extremely realistic hollow cow sculpture to hide in... which led to the birth of the Minotaur. Real kinky stuff.

Yea the greek myths are a massive rabbit hole. I found them very interesting to read about when I was younger though, I remember having a rather thick book with a lot of illustrations about the Greek and Norse myths, and the book didn't even cover everything.

How was the norse stuff?
@Somebody374-bv8cd

@@WoodenPotatoes I recall it covered a considerable amount of stuff, including what would happen during ragnarok. Norse myths are considerably more brutal, but I guess it makes sense - it's the legends of the vikings. The funny thing about norse myths compared to greek was that a great deal more of it was focused on the gods and their exploits, while greek myths had considerably more stories about human or demi gods -humans born from a god (almost always zeus) and a mortal woman. Yes Zeus was extremely horny, apparently. I loved the illustrations though, especially the one where odin was depicted as a huge man with one glowing eye, throwing down his spear to determine which army would win the war.

I own the whole series from Caeser III to Pharoh to Zeus and Emperor. Out of em all, I do think Zeus is the easy one out of the bunch, but Pharaoh can be a pain lol/

So on a previous video I've already alluded to this mechanic (at least, as I understand it) in a somewhat inelegant comment about Hermes' and his Refuge. Cities, as well as individual traders, have an upper limit of goods they'll sell/buy on an annual basis when passing through your city. It is listed under the column "Traded so far this year". In the case of Thermopylai here, this limit is 12 for Fish and Fleece. Any traders passing through your city after reaching this limit will just mosey right on by. While I do not believe that Hermes' Refuge increases this limit, I've thus far neglected to verify! Perhaps the devs foresaw an exploit where one might repeatedly find increasingly creative ways to kill traders to spawn a new one? ;)
@WoodenPotatoes
@WoodenPotatoes Месяц назад
Yeah the yearly limit was a revelation to me! It's possibly in this adventure (I think so, honestly). And yeah definitely 100% foresight from the devs, I think.

Isn't putting the game speed all the way down just Real-Time With Pause, like Stellaris? Don't really like that style of gameplay tbh, always feels like I'm doing it wrong by not pausing. I much prefer a real turn-based game, or a real real-time game with just one good game speed.
@WoodenPotatoes
@WoodenPotatoes Месяц назад
Yeah it's 100% like that. And I have to be honest - pausing to build is going to be the entirety of the LP (basically) going forwards. It's just so powerful and liberating. Actually kinda bizarre for me to look back at the first two adventures with me not doing it!

I feel like you just lost the plot with the backdoor idea and it threw you off this episode.
