5 HP 502 C were used in Régie Ligne d'Azur's Citelis 18 :D

Yeah a bunch of old B7RLE's and B7L's in my area operated by CDC Melbourne have loud 5HP502 Ecomats. I hate how new buses just have the stupid quiet Ecolife transmission.

@@MarkoCR221L Even though Ecomats are the best, I prefer the sounds of Voiths over the nothingness of an ecolife. Ecomats are always on top though. I got an O500LE with an ecolife the other day, and there was no sound at all, except the quietest engine rumble

That ZF gearbox is also used on the Scania K230UB chassis and from 2005 to 2020. Most of the buses in my city, Santiago de Chile, had that gearbox and it was beautiful. I will always remember it.

Well at this rate its going to be a while. Last year I skipped the tribute since the Vol. 3 hasn't generated views when compared to the amount of work required to make these sadly. And now it looks like 1K subs won't be reached before November.

Thank you. Well me and my dearest of friends have studied on how to capture them since 2014. Expensive equipment, long waits in the cold but judging now in 2023, it was worth it.

+Benjamin Batchelor ZF Ecomat gearboxes have/had race car style straight cut gears plus the torque converter that makes the smooth transitions on the shifts. The straight gears - sometimes referred to as dog-leg gears in the racing world - give the whining or "singing" sound. As the speed increases so do the gearbox rpm's which also raise the pitch of the tone. The G-box mechanism itself functions similarly to a motorcycle or racing style sequential boxes so that it shifts synchro clutches instead of the actual gears. 3rd and 5th gear are linked on the same shaft so that's why they sound similar. Nowadays ZF doesn't make straight cut gears anymore on their commercial vehicle products, so no song to be sang there. Also I hear that ZF is starting to shift into helical gears on race car boxes as well. Ecomat is still being produced, just the 3-speed and 4-speed variants have been discontinued. Five and six speed variants still remain under production

Devon swaby Update: Ecolife is not an entirely new gearbox. After riding buses that have a loud Ecolife gearbox and listening to loud Ecolife videos, I can confirm that the Ecolife is just another generation of Ecomat, so I decided to give it the name ZF Ecomat VI (ZF Ecomat 6)

+RattijuoppoFIN I which I could help, were I drive we had 6 speed ZF gearbox buses on long distance speed limit between 70 -100km/h but all those buses has been replaced to new ones. But I were in Spain in grand canaria and they have a Mercedes with same gearbox, and 11 liter engine.. All buses are almost alike there so my first thought was that it was an Volvo B12B with ZF, but. Closer look it was an Mercedes 11 liter with ZF and it runs pretty nice. 130 km/h no problem for that. :)

Euro 4/5 Enviro500s in Hong Kong are mostly equipped with the 6HP604C? and some of them go onto the highway...

Entirely possible. ZF HP 6xx Series is mated usually to the top of the line torque engines.
