After watching this video, I’ve come to understand and appreciate the brilliance of this serve and how well players like Zhang Jike are able to use it. Amazing video, Coach!👏👏
Thank you! So good that you talk about the different contacts for spin! It helps to understand it better. I would love if you could explain why these players do their serve, what's the reason/goal for their serve. Again, super good, coach 😊👍
hi, these are really great videos. Since you have analysed closely and reproduced these serves across different servers, it would be very informative to see some kind of summary where you make a comparison between them, with your perception of advantages and disadvantages of each
Very many thanks Master Ti Long. Very informative and lovely videos. I love the way you speak the use of technology in your videos and the innovative ideas to make your videos informative and interesting. I really like your videos. I hope to meet you and take a master class from you some days fro sure. You are an inspiration to all table tennis players. Keep up the lovely videos. Thank you
Another great video! Could you make a video on side swipe against top spin using long pips? Perhaps chopping away from the table using long pips as well. Thanks for the great videos Coach.
I do this serve, but I find that it is difficult to do it with the same precision that Zhang Jike did, or how Liang Jingkun or Fan Zhendong does it. I struggle with replicating the way the ball hit the middle of their side of the table and then bounces close to the net and bounces two times on opponents table as far to the left side of the table as possible. I find that I can impact great spin, but only if the ball bounces a bit high because of the forces I have to put into the ball. So when I do it with super spin, I aim to make the first bounce on my side of the table go quite close to me and then the high arc will make the ball bounce close to the net on opponents side of the table. I can also hit under the ball, which is easier, but thats a different type of serve because this adds backspin to the ball. No matter how many time I study video of these top chinese players I cant replicate it 100%. Ti Long isnt replicating it 100% here either. You can see that the high spin ball goes to the middle of oppoents side of the table, and not far to the forehand side. Far to the forehand side is much more difficult for the opponent to recieve a spin like this because you have to open your racket so much or take it with the backhand side, which feels unnatural to most people.
before zhang Jike or Fan Zheng Dong use this serve. Timo Boll already use this serve in beginning 2000. at that time, even China Shakehand Player like Wang Li Qin, Kong Li Hui, Chen Qi, Liu Guo Zheng, Qiu Yike never use this serve. Only Timo Boll use that serve at that time. Even Ma Long never use this serve. But when Zhang Jike already play in 2009, he use this serve and Fan Zhen Dong use it too. And Now all people never mention Timo Boll to this Reverse Pendulum Serve? although he already use this serve in 2000? in my opinion, Zhang Jike, Fan ZhenDong just imitate Timo Boll Reverse Pendulum Serve
Zhang Jike's serve is very hard on the shoulder blade. In his late opted for a plain high toss pendulum serve. Only Schlager could use it without getting injured. It was Schlager who invented in the first place.
