Most people call it the Zhongda Fabric Market even though it is actually not a market but an area with at least 16 separate market buildings. In this area you cannot only find fabrics, but all kinds of materials and accessories needed for the clothing production. That’s why we call it the Zhongda Fabrics and Accessories Market Area.
Zhongda (中大) is the abbreviation for the nearby Sun Yat-sen University (中山大学， Zhongshan Daxue). Sun Yat-sen is the founding father of Republic of China and a revolutionist. The universtiy is named after him.
The mall I am walking is called Qingfan Chen, also Int’l Textile City. This building is famous for quality fabric and fabric trend. So if you want to find the newest fabric,this is definately the place where you need to visit.Underground floor is for all the accessories like beads buttons badges etc.If you want to find or source lace or embroidery, this is the place where you worth to try the luck.From 2nd to 6th floor,it is for all types of fabric including cotton,lace,jacquard etc.Inside 4th floor and 7th floor,there are many banks ans ATM which is easy for you to withdraw money.
It is one of the famous wholesale market areas in Guangzhou, where several wholesale markets are located close to each other.
In each market building there are hundreds or thousands of manufacturers and wholesalers, which offer fabrics and accessories like buttons, zipper, beads, rhinestones, ribbons, sew-on patterns and many more.
How to get there?
The Zhongda metro station can be reached from Guangzhou Railway Station or from Guangzhou South Railway Station via line 2 to Changgang and from there just two stations with line 8. From the Airport or from Guangzhou East Railway Station you can take line 3 and change to line 8 at Kecun. For more information take a look at the Guangzhou Subway Map. This is a general guideline: The markets are open every day, Monday to Sunday (except for Chinese New Year). Most markets are open between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm.
We recommend you to visit the markets from the morning till the early afternoon. In the late afternoon and evening (4 to 7 pm) the area is really getting busy and there is always traffic jam on Ruikang Road, because hundreds of people want to leave with their cars and bikes full of fabric.
The market is pretty huge and the market people do not speak English normally, so I would suggest it will be better to have a local guide/translator around so your business will be more smoothly.Plus if you order fabric from different shops,they wont be able to help you delivery or ship out to your countries.So if you can have a reliable assistant/agent in China,that would be so helpful for your business because they can go to check the quality for you,pick up the goods and arrange shipment accordingly when you are back to your country.
