So without his Gnosis Zhongli can’t create mora anymore? Oh boy I can probably imagine the scene Venti: Hey! Long time no see! Care to lend some Mora? Zhongli *IN TERMS OF MORA-...*
venti: a poor alcoholic bard zhongli: a poor homeless dude who acts like hes rich but when he has to pay he makes others do it *im beginning to see a pattern here*
Paimon: Did you set some greens for yourself ? Zhongli: Well, that's a good idea. Though too bad Paimon: Too bad what ? Zhobgli: Too bad you just told me that now
The fatui did a great job in here persuading him to hand over his gnosis through a contract instead of fighting him 🤣 they know that they don't stand a chance against him 🤣
@Johanna same lmao I used to love him so much but now I feel super betrayed. As a Chinese myself, I don't like how "this god" plan things. He could have used another method tbh
@@yoloyeet6889 to be fair, he's literally a blockhead. He doesn't understand humans that well, even Venti says so. He probably thought that the adepti and the traveler can handle Osial, and it will force Liyue to mature and not rely on him anymore, so he hung back and watched. I agree that he could've searched for another method.
@Johanna calling it now, the fatui will be our future allies. Venti didnt even resist that much when his gnosis was taken, in fact it didnt bother him.
@@justanordinaryguy._.7399 I don’t think the commenter is criticizing him for holding up his end of the contract, I think they are criticizing Zhongli for even offering up his gnosis to trade with a hostile foreign power in the first place
@@zaraki942 The Tsaritza commands the Fatui, most of their nefarious actions are by her orders. Trading it to her is just as bad, thus I’ll have to disagree with your conclusion that Zhongli isn’t dumb ...... unless it turns out that her’s and the fatui’s goal is actually a noble one, but we are still waiting on that information (aside from some vague statements about overthrowing their world’s god). In the meanwhile, their methods and actions are insidious and hostile, and trusting them with a gnosis is crazy.
@@B-rex395 We aren’t waiting on that Information, I mentioned the lore because you don’t seem to know about the Tsaritsa, still assuming her and the Fatui are hostile and trusting them with a gnosis is “crazy”. First of all, the Tsaritsa isn’t evil. She doesn’t have a motive to gather every gnosis for a destructive plan, rather the opposite. In Impact games, places that become highly advanced are sought to be destroyed. The same thing happened with Honkai Impact, and now Khaenri’ah with Genshin. It was wiped out by the Divine because it was becoming advanced and powerful, now only Kaeya and Dansleif are remaining. This event took place 500 years ago. The Ruin Guards, Abyss Mages, Hilichurls you see are all the aftermath of the Abyss and Khaenri’ah’s destruction, the Tsaritsa witnessed it. Her, being the Archon of love, known as a gentle soul, had to harden herself and declare war. This is the reference from Childe’s character profile. Dansleif’s also mentions how her love faded after witnessing so many innocent lives lost. The Teyvat Storyline Chapter preview for Snezhnaya says the Fatui only hope to be on her side when the day comes of her rebellion against the Divine. She gathered the likes of powerful people, from all across Teyvat, and granted them delusions. She created the Fatui, and tested who becomes a Harbinger, to serve her for her final motive. That is saving Teyvat, saving history from repeating itself, the same thing Zhongli mentions. In his character quest, at the ending cutscene, he says he has talked to you (the MC) because you’ve traveled many worlds, Including the “Celestial Atlas” where you’ve met the Sustainer, who wishes to end Mankind. Ever since Teyvat started ascending to Celestia, the place where one becomes an Archon, the Divine ordered an end to it, and Khaenri’ah is where it started. Zhongli, being the oldest Archon, decided to set forth a test to Liyue, the land he has been protecting for more than 6,000 years. He scripted everything from the beginning of Liyue’s Chapter to know whether he can forego the Final Contract to end all Contracts, with the Tsaritsa, and move on to the bigger purpose. Not because he’s unaware of possible ulterior motives or tired of becoming who he is, He is the god of contracts after all. A contract is set in stone, and he himself said he wouldn’t accept a contract without a benefit.
I'm both offended and amused by this part: Offended because there were people dying in that mess and Zhongli still wanted an encore. Amused by how Zhongli and La Signora made a total fool out of Childe
I'm pretty sure they're weren't any casualties zhonglis knows better is anything went south and people were about to get hurt he would come down save them easily like LA signora said.
@Aneki Ryota if you looked at the full scene during the fight, when the platform broke, only the main characters managed to be saved, everyone else died fatui and liyue soilders included
I get the feeling there is some greater plan behind all this. Him just handing over his Gnosis to the Fatui seems very foolish, which is in sharp contrast to how intelligent he is otherwise. I think he knows something, that's why he made a contract in the first place and is co-operating with the Fatui. And that'll probably be revealed later in the story.
Well there are some theories that, Venti already warned the other 6, I don't actually think they just gonna hand gnosis over like that, and Venti seemed to be weaker than that of Signira. Some say that Zhongli and Venti are tricking the harbingers. Or a whole other option that the Archons just want to give up the god thing and let humanity take over. Well either way, there is a theory that the Gnosis Zhongli gave was fake and that the Gnosis Signora stole from Venti was also fake.
@@solissea3964 i have spoilers. the Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya (sorry for spelling) is planning to strike back against celestia. And if that happens, there will be nobody superior than the surface dwellers and nobody they should fear. Remember the last time humans tried to fight against celestia and they dropped the skyfrost nail over dragonspine, killing thousands at once. Now the Tsaritsia has planned to be at war with celestia, and for that she is collecting all the gnosis for their powers. And thats why zhongli agreed. The Archons do not want to live in fear of celestia anymore. Nor do they want another event like dragonspine happen on a massive scale. Venti wasn't aware of it, but Zhongli knows about the plan.
@@STRIKEFORCE225 I mean it's pretty much the only theory that is possible. Celestia did destroy Khaenri'ah and that nation didn't even have an archon and was pretty advanced. So they probably did Tower of Babel stuff or some Kalimdor (WoW)/Atlantis to be annihilated.
@@aceovyn I like his japanese voice too, but his english voice is really impressive. I'm glad I watched this video in english though because I found the reveal to be hard to understand in japanese (maybe because eng is my native language) but it seemed like Childe was more angrier and I was able to sympathize with him, while Zhongli sounded somewhat indifferent in both dubs. idk if what I said made any sense DX
I mean if the situation with Osial Escalate to the point of no return, he'll interfere, and he will deem that Liyue is not ready without him yet, cancel the contract (maybe) and rule and guide liyue again lol
Zhongli: I finally make Liyue independent and I can retire in peace! Also Zhongli: *forgets to mint sone mora for his personal mortal funds. *Task failed successfully*
Zhongli(Morax) with everyone in liyue: Y'all don't need my protection noobs Zhongli with Aether: Don't worry I'll help you get your powers back and help you find your sister Edit: I'm gonna be honest archons prefer to give their trust to the traveler rather then the people in their region
@@rifarira9160 Mind you, though, that there was no connetion at all between Barbatos and the Knights. The only reason Jean and the knights, (by extension, Diluc) is because he trusts the traveler's choice of friends.
@@Vekcrazah mind you though, traveler doesnt even know diluc to begin with. The one who introduce him to us was venti when we hiding in diluc tavern from knof after try to stealing from church. Actually, by forgetting about mora production, Zhongli might accidently open a way to a new era. What i mean is, this might lead to the birth of money as a new payment method.
Isn't mora a resource though? i gets used up and disapears right its not just traded. And its canonically used to enhance wapons and such, this is awful for the ppl of teyvat.
@@rikymarty3907 Mora as enchantment material is not canon. Zhongli said it by himself, just wait till you play zhongli story quest. You litterally ask the same question like the npc ask to zhongli in that story. Zhongli said mora is simply just a catalist for trading not some magical shit, which means he create mora as a payment method.
@@rifarira9160 This is wrong. You misunderstood the story quest, because they actually say the opposite. Zhongli only corrects the archaeologist about the use of the *first* mora. The archaeologist Hanxue specifically says that mora is used in weapon enhancement. He's not saying it as speculation as it's not just something that happened in the past, it's something that even happens in the present in order to enhance weapons. Also, one of the in game tips: "It's a catalyst of sorts, in that it is a medium for *physical transformation*. That is why so many things can only be accomplished through the use of Mora" So you not have to worry about the characters potentially being wrong about their facts, because even the game literally confirms that it is used as a catalyst for physical transformation. Check the wiki or lore discussions on reddit if you want to do some research for yourself.
Merchant: "You've already finish your duties.Go ahead and call it a day. Zhongli : "Have I already finish my duties?" Bruhh this breaks my heart but seeing him walking enjoying his life in liyue in character demos and soundtracks makes me feel good.
i imagine Zhongli wheezing internally after learning that Venti got his ass beat by Signora thats why he took a deep breath before talking so that he doesnt burst out laughing
Judging by what Zhongli said about Inazuma, I’m surprised at how historically accurate it is to Japan in the Tokugawa era. Inazuma being closed off seems to be a reference to “Sakoku” in the Tokugawa Shogunate where Japan closed off its borders (excluding Dejima I believe to certain nations) and the vision hunt being sort of a reference to Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s sword hunt where he confiscated swords from his enemies to make sure nobody can rebel against him after uniting Japan.
" as for the bargaining ship that the Tsaritsa use to balance the scales... uncover that answer for yourself in your future journeys." who else think this is basically them saying "well fuck, we don't know what could worth as much as the Gnosis. maybe if we just push it off, the player may forget about it over time."
@@finnheisenheim8274 if all else fails with the tsarista's plan well.... Unknown God/Sustainer Of Heavenly Principals: no matter where you go no matter where you hide i am only getting closer....
Looking back into this from Fontaine… I think what zhongli was offered in return was the assurance that celestia would be destroyed, if zhongli is a primordial creature that knows the truth of this world
@@starlight9447 you know there are sides in the rite ground that have pool in it right and because of our limited pov people only run toward zhongli and forget that there are pools there and voila they just slip into the water
Venti/barbatos=wants wine Zhongli/morax=wants Mora (Atleast that what I heard) Now it's the immortal shogun/electro Archon turns now what is his identity and what his likes
There’s clearly a bigger threat out there that every major faction is somewhat aware of and are beginning to mobilize and prepare defenses and retaliation against said threat, Zhongli definitely made a contract for his Gnosis knowing full well what the conditions of that contract will be fair, which is one of his “beliefs” in what defines a contract. Though I love that some of these comments don’t have the foresight to think beyond “zhongli dumb he gave his gnosis to bad guy fatui!!” There is clearly something beyond what we know so far, 1.4 was essentially the start of the story’s rising arc. If Mihoyo’s HI3 is anything to go by, they’re definitely thinking about the long road ahead.
I wonder if the Fatui has actually tried to approach Venti before? Headcanon 1 (crack): The Fatui actually just got pissed at chasing around wisps of rumors of Venti for YEARS because he's a pain in the ass to catch, so the Stormbringer plot was actually Plan F: Fuck 'Em All. Headcanon 2 (serious): They might have met with Venti but didn't manage to come to any accord, because Barbatos is after all the god of freedom, and Barbatos has had to deal with People With Too Much Power twice (tyrant, then the Aristocracy) so he booked it the moment he heard Tsaritsa wanted to bring them all under one banner or something. Granted, I don't think the Fatui and Tsaritsa are nice people, but they're clearly not incorrigible villains.
Soooo, we're just gonna willingly give the assumed to be bad guys the thing they need to do whatever bad thing it is they're planning??? Zhongli better have a good reason for thinking that's remotely close to a good idea
we're heading to the 6th nation already and we still don't know what he made a deal with maybe at the 7th is where everything gets answered and more questions pop up
Damn Aether: (I still have time to take it back) Paimon: No you need to collect all the 7 elements or Signora will “yeet” you Childe: Don’t fight Signora or Traveler will “yeet” you like he “yeet’d” me Now I understand why the Fatui wanted Aether to join the harbingers
I think Venti & Zhongli already give the real gnosis to the traveler when the traveler get the power from their archon statue .. maybe will be a surprise the gnosis Zhongli give to Signora is an empty gnosis
Infinite cheers for Keith Silverstein! He's so freaking awesome. I like when he voices Gabriel aka Hawk Moth aka Scarlet Moth aka Shadow Moth (my favorite version of Gabriel) aka Monach. And I love whenever he does his evil laugh. He's amazingly fantastic! I freaking love him.
I see how Lumine's plans make sense now.She talked about how the archons were evil. Now considering all their Archon names like Barbatos,Morax,Baal, Beelzubeb and Barnabas(in theory might be Tsarista's name)are all mythological names of Demons which depict evil. What if the Archons wrote a new history after the Archon wars to make them look like benevolent gods
Theres some hidden meanings in character demo of zhongli, i noticed some dragon in the lower screen flying left, like rex lapis. So it got connection with zhongli, hes rex lapis.
Agreed. I understand why he wanted to test whether Liyue could take care of itself without him, but trading away his gnosis to a hostile foreign power is just flat out stupid.
It doesn't help that during his story quest, it sounded like he had a bit of doubt in trading away his gnosis before reminding himself about his contract. Honestly, I don't see the Tsaritsa holding up her end of the deal in the end.
Considering the theme baal is going to have. It really makes sense, since japan did have a bloody civil war during the confiscation of swords at the end of the samurai era
@@leeviheiskanen1271 And Morax actually thought this was a good plan. He also gave his gnosis to the fatui, in turn making the devious organization even more powerful.
Paimon: Did you at least set private fund for yourself? Zhongli: Oh, private fund? It's a shame, I didn't think of it at that time! Me: For a 6,000 years old God, and great schemer, you sure are foolish. Now, you're going to be known as Morax the moraless, alongside Barbatos, the drunken bard.
i get it if zhongli wants a break but giving the gnosis away was the worst possible thing he could of done. to the fatui especially. To be honest the gnosis is only truly safe in the hands of zhongli because think about it: Fatui-want to dominate teyvat. Qixing: are humans and with the power of a gnosis will eventually become corrupt Adepti: are probably the best option but maybe a bit too "overdramatic" because from what i remember when they first found out that rex lapis was dead their first thought was to destroy liyue. so basically what im saying is i dont think the adepti would be very happy having the power of a gnosis but not being needed by the people of liyue. other than that i can't really think of anyone else to give it to. maybe if he gave it to another archon then liyue would be under their rule and under their ideal and liyue would fall apart because there are no more contracts. Sorry for making this really long and thanks for coming to my ted talk
