This is months late, but I really get what Brian means about the difference between Dimash and Zhou Shen. Dimash is incredible, and he uses every performance to prove that to the audience. Zhou Shen is also incredible, but he makes choices that are in service to the song itself rather than to just be very impressive. They’re both great, but I’ve always felt that Dimash’s primary love is for performance and Zhou Shen’s is for music itself. Very different approaches, and I tend to resonate more with Zhou Shen
You are wrong, Dimash lives in music all his life since he was 2 years old, He has 4 music degrees with none-stop learning ,compose, arrange even direct his own songs and MV. While Zhoushen tends to cover songs , sing OST for others, proves that he has no ambition in music career

Zhou Shen thought his voice was a curse when he was a teenager but has since realised it is a gift. He and his parents didn’t think he had what it took to become a professional singer so he enrolled in dentistry. Thankfully he found the courage to drop a course he was struggling in, to pursue something he loved. He used to sing online without showing his face, for fear that once the audience saw the mismatch between face and voice, they would ridicule him. He was invited to participate in Voice of China for Season 1 and declined but the producer was persistent and Zhou Shen finally decided to go on the show in Season 3.
I have heard of Dimash who has great talent. People say he is like alien in his music performances. Personally after years of search and recommendation in both in operas and classical special vocalists, I was too amazed that I found this Gem 💎 artist singer Zhoushen who is like a multi-angles singing so naturally and in simple manner to convey the soul of the songs to his audiences healing and encouraging numerous souls with his gifted spirited interpretation. Zhou Shen and Dimash are obviously both very talented, but I prefer Zhou Shen. I describe the differences in their voices like this: listening to Dimash makes me feel like he's trying to beat me up with his voice, and Zhou Shen's voice feels like a hug.
Love Zhou Shen. He did not win, Hua Chenyu won this year. It is the Last Singer season. But Zhou Shen did really well on this show. This is my favourite song of his, but he has others. He is not like Dimash, but the clarity of his voice is beyond any great singer in my opinion. I have tons of respect for Dimash and I am a huge Hua Chenyu fan. But But Zhou Shen has this very ethereal, vulnerable yet clear tone of voice that is touching without effort. He has a lot of performances on Super Vocal, another great show that showcases musical theater and opera. A lot of great singers and great performances. "Memory" is a great solo perrformance of his, otherwise he has a lot of performances with other competitors of the show such as "Hawthorne Tree" and Crescent Moon" 😊Mai, old subscriber
He's neither the same as Marcelito nor Dimash. His high pitches are his natural voice. The reason why his voice is like woman's (some say it's between a boy's and a woman's) is that he didn't undergo voice change during puberty. More impressively, he also sings countertenor (soprano-like) - you can hear that in songs like Time to Say Goodbye, 我爱你中国 and 左手指月. In his recently released new song 光亮, one of the theme songs for the Chinese documentary The Forbidden City, he sings in the Chinese operatic style towards the ends of the song - another musical feat of his that showcases his incredible versality.
Zhou Shen's songs will make you feel relaxing, thinking deep into life, different from Dimash or Hua Chenyu or other great singers. I feel his songs have got very lasting value unlike those whose songs are hot and popular for a limited period.
LOL, you guys just unfold 2% of Zhou Shen so no need to conclude in such a impetuous way. Althought Zhou Shen is not as famous as Hua Chengyu among interntional youtubers, but Zhou Shen is definitely much much hotter than Huahua in China.

Hi guys, I like your reaction style. After watching your first reaction on Charlie's "Dalabengba", I was eager to wait for your next reaction on Zhou Shen and here it is. Some people don't like your pausing too much, but I think you were okay. It shows that you were truly impressed and couldn't help pausing and sharing your thoughts before you forgot. You were right about being able to appreciate the song without knowing what it said. I can understand the lyrics perfectly, however when I listen to the song (multiple times) I don't think of the lyrics but would rather immerse in his music and emotion.

Brian sure understand the essence of a song which is telling a story. Undeniable Dimash is technically the best but singling a song is not about how high how high or how loud. Technically perfect only surprise and shock you but able to tell story in a song is all together at a different level.

Most singers are good in their own right. Varieties of songs and singers made listening to music a wonderful experience.
The film that this song is sung on really good. Check out his version of "Lonely Goatherd" it's great fun. Oh and the song from Frozen 2 where he transitions through 9 languages effortlessly.
His fan’s names are called ‘Sheng Mi’, loosely translated as raw rice. This is as Zhou shen likes rice, and it sounds similar to ‘Fan of Shen’. Yes he has also sang for Disney’s Luca “Friendship under the summer sky”. And no he didn’t win the show and was paired with a group he wasn’t familiar with in the finals, which caused him to be eliminated in the first round of finals. The 3 ppl (Zhou Shen, MISIA and Lala) who had won first place in the different episodes were eliminated in the first round of the finals, paving the way for huahua to win the whole show. Fans were rather disappointed but in the end, Zhou Shen gained a lot of fans in the show, left behind many outstanding performances and rose to fame. Ultimately the results don’t matter - a great performance is more important.

He's once of those rare breed of men whose natural voice broke only a little past puberty, and he was teased and made fun of because of that. 2. He's currently one of the hottest singers in China when it comes to performing theme songs (to date he's sung several dozens for various films, TV series/shows, and video games; _Big Fish_ is one of them). In fact he sang the Chinese theme song for the recently concluded COP15 (United Nation's Biodiversity Conference) in China. 3. He's VERY good at singing in different languages - you can check out his cover of "Memory", "This is Me", "Time to Say Goodbye" on YT. His voice is angelic~ if you believe in God, I believe Zhou Shen is His voice. That's my belief as I listen to his songs everyday and never get bored of it. I become very hard to listen to new artists now... This is his first OST for movie Big Fish, and this song carried Charlie thru out the beginning years of his singing career, which he had to fright thru people’s dirty look and prejudge his high pitch voice as fake. He sang this song for 5 years, however, his fans never get tired from this song as Charlie sang this song differently almost every time. I am enjoying your reactions. I have to give big credit to Brain, he got very good ears to know Charlie’s singing talent right away. 👍🏻

Zhou Shen is great! I love his soft notes. It reaches to the heart everytime. You literally don't need the fancy high notes, but he does it great too! Check out cliff walker by Zhou Shen. Great soft melody and operatic high notes. The live version is unbelievably great! Also I think he didn't win the show because the music show purposely gave him a bad band at the finale. Many questions the validity of the show after that. Like setup results. It felt like there was no way he could have won. Everyone felt like the award was handed to the other contestant. Shame!
👍👍👍👍👍 you guys need to check out Zhou Shen different style of singing. It was mind blowing. Zhou Shen " Ring The Door bell and listen it to myself ". Apparently he was given the song to record back in 2015 but he had difficulty with it. Others artists also had tried and felled. In 2020 he did a memo of the song again and sent to the songwriter ,finally got the approval to go ahead to perform in Singer 2020 which is the last season of Singer.

Hey, not sure if you guys can still see this. But since you asked, his fans' name is called "生米" (Sheng Mi) which means "uncooked rice" if you want to directly translate it to English :p. The reason for that is, "生" (Sheng) sounds like Shen which is his first name. And "米" (Mi) has the same pronunciation as "迷" in Chinese which means "Fans". I'd love to see you guys wearing shirts with his fan's name haha. (I'm sure you will if you guys keep watching his video!
