They never let you forget that this is a BL, this show was quite blunt with that, the video just didn't show some of the most obvious scenes and i'd say the one chinese BL out there that the romance can pass really well undercover if you're not looking close enough is The untamed, the humor on this show is so good tho
Actually in Vietnam, if you search Word of honor on Google, you'll see it got tagged as a comedy 😂 And there are a lot of people really thought the 2 main characters were friends until the end actually. I remember seeing a comment of a dude asking why didn't the director gave them each a girl, living with a friend until you die is kinda boring 😂
Word of Honor went out of the way to remind people it is a gay story. It's way more obvious than in The Untamed, although I would say The Untamed is obvious, but it is more low-key.
Yeah the words did a lot too! because they were throwing “soulmate” zhiji around a lot. It’s not strictly romantic in Chinese, but they translate as soulmate and it makes sense. They also have a bit in WOH where another character references the main couple in the context of marriage. It’s hard to explain but they sneakily compare them to a married couple whenever possible, they truly got away with making this show as gay as possible with words, and looks, and physical touch
I love WOH, but I have to say my two Untamed cracks that I love the most is Grandmaster of Troublemaking and The Untamed LLamas with Hats ft our favorite psychopath Xue Yang.
Si lo ves con ojos de inocencia, no vas a ver otra cosa, no es que la gente sea tonta por no ver BL en esta serie u otras. Es simplemente otra forma de ver las cosas, no necesitas ofender. Por ejemplo, en The Untamed, si no conoces la historia, puedes ver la serie como una historia de dos amigos, e incluso Lan Zhan queda como una persona muy pura dentro de su propia línea de personaje. Espero que la inocencia o ingenuidad no haya muerto completamente en tu país.
