I felt like the guitar intro was reminiscent of pink floyd intros. I appreciated that from the very get go. But to have that contrasted by thr heavy electronica feel of the rest of the track made me appreciate both aspects so much more. Good on ya ZHU you made me feel amazing and i love you for it!

It was July 10, 2011 when it happened. My dad was acting up again, verbally threatening and harassing me and my younger brother for nonsensical reasons, being agitated with my mother, and using his physicality to shut us up. However, this time it was different because the police were involved and a massive scene outside our house arose. Bystanders and neighbors were looking at us on our street. He was tased with a stun weapon and brutally beat down on the ground. My younger brother, who was 15 at the time, was the one who dialed 911 for domestic violence. It was at the spur of the moment, that even I had agreed he made the right decision to call. I could’ve snatched the phone away from his hands, but I didn’t. To this day, almost 10 years later, my brother and I don’t look at my father the same way. We don’t talk to him nor give him any attention. There have been many other incidents after this fiasco, but I think the turning point between our relationship with him was that encounter with the police. Sometimes, I wonder how things would have been different if that day just went by normally without any arguments and further escalations. 7/10/11 was in the Palm of My Hand and I hope I can reach out with my words and message to anyone else going through abuse from their fathers. Today is Father’s Day and if you are a father please do yourself a favor and love yourself and your kids even more.
