@@HarryJohnson69 Because Materazzi was just another average player, nothing special. While Zidane was a player that was idolized by fans and other players, studied by experts, Check the player Honours stats of the two players, Materazzi: 2 Zidane: 65 How many records set by player? Materrazi: 0 Zidane: 10 Top teams in FIFA want Zidane as their coach and he has already coached. But where is Materazzi? Playing football in India. 🤦♂️ Materazzi is forgotten. Nobody cares about him, even if he scored and won in the world cup final.
@@HarryJohnson69 actually we remembers Godze in positive way, and we remembers Materazzi in negative way for passing negative comment about zidans sister and ended Zidanes career in a bad way! But Zidane did the right thing, he knew he won in 1998 so avenge is better than that cup for him atm
Guy was a great defender, played on some great inter teams, was a starter on a lot of trophy winning teams. Anyone around at the time knows who this guy is.
Its literally the most famous thing from 2006 World Cup, because it decided why Italy won it. Im not sure, but the italian coach might have said at half time to Materazzi, that talk shit about Zidane family and so Materazzi did talk shit about Zidane family and Zidane headbutted Materazzi to get red card, so Italy could win the World Cup. This is genious football tactics from the italian coach to win the World Cup.
@@sergiosuraci7306not sure France would have won it or not . But if Zidane was on the pitch it was not easy for Italy to win it even in penalties. Zidane was the leader . In penalties you need a strong mindset which Zidane had . Buffon save the day for Italy otherwise 2nd wc for Zidane .
You think Materazzi was serious, maybe he even knew Zidane would react like this, this was a wc final man, you don't take a red card for a provocative smear like that, that was ridiculous....
Yeah, that's the attitude "I just hurt my reputation and my team, but at least I didn't let him use a common insult!" Materazzi said he wanted his sister. How lame is Zidane's reaction now? What a weak mind!
@@geofunk23 while some consider it a weak mind. Others would disagree, family comes first, you only live once letting others disrespect you simply shows lack of masculinity.
@@fierrosoft surely Materazzi wasn't even serious, maybe even knew Zidane was a little crazy and could be provoked into taking a red card in a wc final.. Zidane was very stupid and should regret it....
@@Mr_Breakdown Nothing was said about his mother. Those were lies that media created and Zidane let happen. It was his sister. Zidane asked Materazzi if he wanted his jersey, he would give it to him after the game. Materazzi owned him by saying he wanted his sister instead. You've never played the sport. That kind of shit talk happens at weekend pick up games all the time. If you let that take you off your game, you ARE WEAK! Zidane hits the shower. Italy owns France. Yep, he did the right thing!!! You keep telling yourself that.
@J S Who condemns him. If he stuck to football he's one of the great talents. Too bad he was also stupid and his violence was not isolated to Materazzi. He's headbutted before that, even stomped and slid down the leg of an opponent trying to hurt him. He also was finished physically by 33, but that was more due to the aging of EPO injections he was getting from Fuentes than anything else. They doped him up when France was failing to qualify in 2006 so he could save their arses in the playoffs, which he did, and bring them to the final...also part of what he did. Dope + Technique = super Zidane, but it also has it's downfall...super rage = stupid Zidane too. DEAL With IT
@J S He's known as the guy who cracked Zidane and made Zidane look like a disgrace. Sure. He's also a 1x World Cup Champion...just like the idiot who's last sporting moment was GETTING TOSSED OUT OF THE GAME :))))))
After that headbutt and the family abuse by materazzi. Somehow, magically the italians just. Retired from the World Cup. I mean. Bro how do they failed to qualify
mishaps happen unfortunately. In between dominating Europe. Lots of people want to read into these things. in 2017 they had a very bad retarded manager that tried to play a 4-2-4 with Spain. One of the midfielders was an aging De Rossi. It didn't work, Spain beat Italy 3-1 or something...and they went into the playoff. In the first game vs Sweden Italy was parked in their end but could not score. Sweden nicked a goal on a deflection and defended for their life. Again genius manager put's Italy best offensive weapon, at that time, in a defensive role in midfield. He tried that again in the 2nd game when Italy needed a goal. De Rossi at that time called him out on it. A normal mind would think that the coach is either insane or had been bought off. Either way, 3 poor games and they were out. In 2021 Jorginho fails to convert two penalties in two consequetive games that would have seen Italy qualify. Then against Macedonia they hit post, cross bar and missed an open net (ie; fail to score) on 31 shots on net after 80% possession...and finally Macedonia's goal was a hand ball. That happened, but before any of that, Italy should have had a goal and should have been there. Those previous errors were Italy's fault. Never leave the decision in Ref or Var's hands. Another 3 game mishap and OUT. Shit happened in a big way. Italy will be back, like Italy was in 2021, and haters will cry again. This is a guarantee.
@OdinoMarco what you mean shame on france? In other words shame on Zidane or you have other meaning about France that they dont see good about Zidane ? LoL
A legendary idiot, this was a display of stupidity and disrespect for his whole country. He fought a useless private battle on the backs of the hopes and dreams of his whole nation that put all their trust in him and saying he don´t regret it is like spitting in his nations face after he dissappointet all of them and excusing it with harsh words......well wtf harsh words on a soccer field? color me surprised, thats harsh when your neighbor is saying it to you but from rivals on a soccerfield its common slang, nothing new nothing special
Akhirnya italia sengsara disetiap pegelaran piala dunia.
Harsh words in a soccer game especially in the WC finals? If that justifies what Zidane did then soccer wouldn´t be a ball game anymore rather than a 11 vs. 11 UFC Battlefield. Stupidity and a useless short fused temper paired with wrong honor and completely conceited combined in a single person representing a whole nation in the greatest Sportsmatch of the world. This game was neither about him or his family it was all about france and him acting like a child because of words at that age shows he is completely egocentric.
Ouhhh poor baby, his mom and sis were insulted...come on, what where you expecting? A sweet hug, really? This wasn't his first red card for being that stupid.
Italians killed their league and national team through cheating. They corrupted their league to much so that it also influenced the national team. Sure they won a Euro but it's embarrassing that a team like Italy who have won 4 world cups can't even qualify for a world cup nowadays. Looks like a small revival of Serie A is on the way, won't reach the levels of the past but hopefully it can atleast rival La Liga soon.
@@mohammedahmmed9827 pretty valuable mate, all of the good teams are from Europe anyways. The top commenter was shaming Italy as if they don't have a bunch of trophies.
Zidane will always be a legend. I watched the report, and the name of the Italian player was repeated multiple times. A few moments later, I don't even remember his name.
@@LentatoMessi & Zidane my votes. Pure class and natural talent. CR7 had to train and work his butt off and still not come close to either of these two when it comes to pure instinctive skill.
Your still remembered, talked about daily, idolised by many, and admired by many more. What you did was the result of a gut reaction because of what was said by an ignoramus. I and many others would have reacted the same way you did, it was unfortunate, but these moments happen in life. Don't lose any sleep over it, unlike like Matterazzi, who to this day and beyond, regrets saying what he did that day.
As an Italian I totally understand Zidane's reaction. Materazzi is unfortunately a dirtbag without honor. I'm still glad we won the cup of course, though :-)
I cant condone this attitude because it costed France the world cup. It was selfish of him to do that to his teammates. That's a team of players from France that prepared themselves hard to hopefully get their hands on the world cup. He should have been the leader in the situation. No matter how much Zidane is liked, his reaction was wrong here.
Zidane is a football genius, but in this given situation he betrayed his team. He had whole his life ahead to hit Materazzi and settle personal matters, but only one in a lifetime chance to win the second Cup with his national team.He prefered to lose both: he let Materazzi win the Cup and Materazzi is still laughing at him and his family.
Everyone defending Zidan __ but that was z most stupid act of Zidan. Being in z final, being z captain, being a legend -- he should hv control over himself. He should hv dealt with it later, not during a great final is on. If Zidan was not sent off, France would hv won. But Zidan messed up his team spirit after that dumb act.
Bull!! Materazzi knew exactly how to provoke Zidane. Italian national football players over the years, are well known for ‘the dark art of winding up opponents’ For Materazzi to say he did not expect that reaction, is like saying I did not expect the robber entering my place to rob me. Well what was he doing there then?Duhh!!
I think Zidane reaction was stupid because he got a red card in a wc final .. that is very very stupid !!! and Materazzi just said what he said just to get Zidane lose his concentration on the game .. surely he wasn't even serious about what he said... So yes Zidane should regret what he did, because he stupidly harmed not only himself, but also his teammates and his country...
THANK YOU! Good God if I’m in a World Cup final representing my country and someone tries a “yo mama a garden tool” tactic it wouldn’t even phase me. Get your head in the game dude.
Zidane is from arab culture. So I understand why he did it. Don't disrespect his family. Specially the women in his family mother, sisters and daughters.
Zidane may apologize to fans and audience around the world. But he absolutely has no need to apologize to Materazzi. It's Materazzi who need to apologize to Zidane and Italy. Why to Italy? Materazzi's dirty deeds helped them win the World Cup in 2006. But it cursed Italy for at least 2 decades. See 2010 and 2014 they did not advance from groups. And Italy did not even qualify for 2018 and 2022. They may miss the 2026 again.
Zidane couldn't deal with trash talking. He was lucky he played in a weak era on a strong French team. Platini remains the best French footballer of all time
@@OssamaAbdesslam-zz2gm The era wasn't tough. It was much tougher during Platini's time. France and Portugal probably had the best teams around 2000 bc the big teams had declined so much. Germany was a joke. Italy wasn't close to what they were. It was a weak era.
I was watching it at a sports bar in 2006. I could tell by the body language that Materazzi had either insulted Zidane's mother or sister on purpose in order to get head-butted. No words necessary.
He was so weak that open fire with trash talk to Materazzi ... being subdued ; starting trash talk ; headbutt after talk battle .... Damn weak ,,, VIEIRA should be the captain of France
I am italian but since that I have never cheered for italy. Because you can win any title but if you win like that you’ll neve be remembered. And if you win like the last Euro, like pulling dragging down people.
For some people it is a great gesture from Zidane, but he also did a headbutt when he was at Juventus during a match in the heat of the moment. At the end, France lost, he was sent off during his last match of his career. I know it's easy to talk, but couldn't he keep his energy, his rage toward what Materazzi said, and use it on the field and win?
That's what I've been thinking. All zidane fans are defending the action..but materazzi won. His goal was to get into zidanes head. He did and they won the WC because of it. Materazzi is proudly laughing and will continue to laugh about this incident.
People that say Zidane’s headbutt was justified are saying that it’s ok to be violent if you are insulted. Words are one thing reacting with violence is another.
I understand why he did it, but I also feel that anger management was more important that pride in this instance, I mean, this was the game of his life. Think how many people end up in prison because they react violently in an instant and end up killing someone. It happens. Sometimes we put too much force into a reaction and bam... it has grave consequences.
Marcello Lippi told'm, If you want to win the World Cup, You should destroy the master peace First. Zidane. They did it, Unfairly they won the WC... The world still remember Zidane, but don't remember that Italy won the match :) hahahaha ... Ironic, Iconic
If he can dish out the trash talking ("you want my shirt so bad, you can have it after the match") than SURELY, a sportsman can handle some trash talking back, no? Zidane...fantastic player (one of the best), a suck when it comes to trash talking? Taking a cheap shot? .....HIM?? Instead of using WORDS?@ 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Imagine if Messi ang Mbappe have had this similar type of incident in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final and Messi in the place of Zidane headbutting Mbappe........
Bro ok respect and shit but to put yourself out of a game you could have won, makes it seem to me like you have no control over yourself and your emotions (weak trait) and u dont know how to react to dirt talk, which is unfortunately/fortunately a big part in every sport. (Look at Mohammed Ali) With that being said: ITALY WON THE WORLD CUP BECAUSE IT WAS OBJECTIVELY THE BEST TEAM OF THAT YEAR AND NO ZIDANE IS NO WORTHY OF RECOGNITION MORE THAN THE WINNER!
Not condoning what Materazzi said to him….but headbutting a player is a red card offence, he needed to be sent off for his reaction. Also, interestingly, I recently found out that Zidane had headbutted another player back in 2000. Random fact that really surprised me. Agreed Zidane was an outstanding player but the red card was a good call.
I be bery surprise if people no know who Materazzi in Italy. A friend try to tell me what it like Spain win World Cup against Portugal. He from Spain. You know? Zidane France's best player., back then. He have regret when he not pressure by people.
I wonder what Zidane's teammates think of him not regretting the headbutt. I understand not being concerned with the French people, as they are mostly nameless, faceless people but your teammates, who have trained with you, played with you and stood by you, for years? And to let them down like this? Matterazzi knew what he was doing, and it worked. Zidane has to know he let his teammates down.
As an Evertonian Marco played for us briefly. Even in a poor Everton side he stood out, he was big brave and committed. Thats as much praise I can give. He was chaotic and always played on the edge likely to make a big mistake at any time. I still can't believe he's a World Cup winner.
