A historical summary of the history changing rivalry between Nigeria's First President, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and the leader of the defunct Republic of Biafra, General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
unfortunately id have to agree with ZIK here....if we had discussed oil with britain...maybe we would have had our biafra by now........today even the oil we no see....all our waters are polluted....and they are still killing us in the east....sometimes in war situations, we need good advisers who are no hotheads or egocentric....
Unfortunately, morality does not win political wars; political strategies do. You may want to strike a balance, but ultimately, you'll still need the political tilt to win.
I will never forgive Zik for betraying me as a young soldier who put his life on the line. I will not forgive him for what he did. I still remember the pain I felt when I saw his photograph with a cheering crowd in Lagos while I put my life on the line for what his greed brought on us in the first place.
Stop saying nonsense and stop spreading lies. Zik of Africa never betrayed anyone. He called for peace with Nigeria as the only way to end the Biafra Genocide. Nigeria went against the Geneva Convention and used Starvation as a tool of war which made it the worst genocide in the history of Africa. It caused the death of over 1million Biafran children. Did you expect an elderly person like Zik of Africa not to do something to stop the genocide?. Zik of Africa never took appointment from Gowon, he only negotiated peace and that ended the genocide and stopped our children from dying. Zik was our Martin Luther King, while Ojukwu was our Malcolm X. Both great men did their best to save us from being Exterminated in their different ways. Zik of Africa was a Civilian Leader and Ojukwu was a military leader. Get educated and stop spreading lies, i nu go?
@@ikeisaac4323 I hope that some day you young people will learn the kind of history that will enrich your lives. Zik was a traitor and nobody will deny that.
@@ucheomambakwe5595 I don't have a problem. I simply moved on without looking back for a day. You need to deal with your personal problems which must be overwhelming you.
The Biafra agenda failed because everything happened in a hurry. There was no long term planing and there was no foreign allies to help supply weapons and other necessary supports that could have boosted the moral of the Biafran soldiers. We pray that such war shouldn't happen again but if it does happen, The Jihadists will be rooted out of Nigeria totally
What an expose. Judging from this, no one can completely fault both men. They were ideologically different. Zik was wise and older, Ojukwu was younger with a new nation to protect. . But Ojukwu remain my hero any day.
You are right. It was a titanic struggle between the pragmatism of the old and the radicalism of the young. Who could tell the alternative history if these competing influence, found a balance.
Apt, the both men were not entirely wrong: I have always blamed zik for betraying Biafra but now I know the actual story, he tried his best for being on the Biafran side in the first place
Zik was born and brought up in the North . Worked and lived in Lagos . He saw Nigeria as one and held a vision of a United Africa . He was the only true Nationalist among his peers. Whether we want to agree or not. History has it that the Great Sir Louis, Ojukwu's father, who was Ziks Friend, Adivced his son against the Biafran War. Because of Zik and Ifeajuna, another great son of Ibo extraction who also advised against the war, Ojukwu committed unprintable atrocities against Onitsha indigenes. I know one of my uncles that he locked up in prison and coveted his wife. You go to equity with clean hands . It is well.
@user-zo5is6eu5r ojukwu is Ziks Son, so to say not his brother. Ziks brother, here was Ojukwu's father, who also advised Ojukwu against the war . What an elder sees sitting down ,a child can not see standing.
Louis ojukwu, isn't the first nigerian billionaire. Other ancient people, exists before louis ojukwu, and these ancient people had their legal tenders inside ancient nigeria.
Those ancient people you claim were billionaires before Luis ojukwu, existed when Nigeria as a country wasn't in existence. Moreover luis present his rolls Royce for the conveyance of queen Elizabeth, when she visited Nigeria. Louis established the nigerian stock exchange to Nigeria. What did those so called millionaires you claim existed before Luis ojukwu, do for Nigeria? What were their impacts on Nigeria?
@@felixndukauzuh7945Get ur facts. As at 1966, Louis Ojukwu was the 4th richest in Nigeria. Sanusi Dantata was the richest; followed by Mobolaji Bank Anthony.
@@felixndukauzuh7945 you are a liar. Nigeria stock exchange was established by 7 separate bodies and individuals. infact, foreigners represent 3 out of the 7, there were two yorubas, and luis ojukwu was just the only igbo among them. He was not the highest share holder then , but was only appointed the head of the exchange because of his passion and because others were not interested in the headship. GOOGLE WILL HELP YOU OUT
Zik did what a good father will do...Did any person hear about Louis Ojukwu again after business deals wt Zik in the interest of good ideas But his Son Emeka Ojukwu took over greed of power to think he can change d cause of biafra by force even whn Zik stood tall to tell him diplomacy makes waves..till date war wl never bring peace go and check it..Zik Ur a man of Peace as PO is coming for a BETTER NIGERIA..ONE COUNTRY but greed makes d difference
