No it is JD’s song ghost note is just playing along. They are only trying to show of the drummers that play zildjian cymbals. Not take the song a take it away from them.

@@Trevor_Elroy it was probably arranged to be a full band peice by sput based off of JD+Domi's original composition. it's mainly about the drummer for sure but if the band wasnt meant to be shown off as well then this whole series would just have been drum solos ;)

@@jamessssssssssssss Couldn't agree more. They went the lengths of hiring the entire Ghost Note band, starting by Sput himself, which won several Grammys. They made sure their drummers were rightfully accompanied. If you have any doubts, go check Dennis Chambers, at the end of his performance, thanking Mononeon for being one of the greatest bass players he's ever played with. Coming from him, this is an achievement all by itself.

I think the biggest lesson in all of Zildjian live is that you should play from the heart. Don’t forget about your click or technique, however never emulate, just extrapolate. Emulation in my opinion is a drummers worst enemy. Not saying to ignore tony Williams,cannonball, etc.. I just notice the greats always learn from others but aren’t imitating others. I guess why I say this is because people try to learn note by note what other drummers are doing, and I can guarantee you that they aren’t thinking the whole time. At a certain point you’ve trained and trained and it becomes an organized improv. Like a great drummer who taught me once said. “There’s one destination, but the roadmap has a few ways to get there.”

I agree. While I think it's great to have drummers to look up to and learn some grooves/fills from them, I think it's more important to develop your own unique vocabulary. One thing I notice is that a lot of these instagram drummers all tend to sound the same. It's like they learn the Dilla beat and some gospel chops, but instead of learning it and expanding upon it, they stick with it to the point where it sounds robotic. It's like everyone is listening to the same handful of music and musicians, which I'm not denying that they're great, but there are certain aspects of the drumming community that are getting stale.

Jacob Byrd all that work. I just buy a marching snare and tune it as high as i can with out the head literally tearing and then i proceed to put an entire elephant on top. Still not as crisp as his snare though

anyone got any idea what they might be hearing through the headphones? I'm thinking abt transcribing this and doing it for jazz band (I'm the drummer), and if they needed a metronome idk how the fuck I'm gonna do it without one lmaoo

it sure is a metronome. I think Sput gives some instructions to not miss cues thru the headphones, I saw it on another session (I think Matt Greiner explains it on his interview post session but I don't remember exactly)
