The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has officially released its final report on Zimbabwe's 2023 election, revealing significant irregularities. This report comes a month and a half after the election took place.
The SADC Electoral Observation Mission (SEOM), which observed the general elections in Zimbabwe, has maintained its stance on the preliminary findings, despite earlier controversies. These findings had previously sparked tension between the Zimbabwean government in Harare, which accused Zambia of harboring a hidden agenda to change the regime.
The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has expressed that the report bolsters its call for new elections, as it sheds light on numerous irregularities that transpired during the electoral process.
Before the release of this final report, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, acting as the chairperson of the SADC troika on defense and politics, conducted a meeting that included discussions on the Zimbabwean elections.
