Thanks for hosting the field day Jon. I kept my shoes on to prevent my socks from blowing off but there was some very good presentations that day. And that strip till rig was quite a machine in person.
The crumbler basket can be individually unpinned to float on its own. They need to build the prototype 22" and make it an 8 row so it covers the tractor tire spacing... Bug the salesman for me tomorrow. I did at FarmFest. 😊
Very nice John. Keep up the good work. Might get to a 1trpr in the future. Would like to hear what you know about placing P/K in the strip vs. broadcast. Rates, depths, anything. Thanks.
Orthman isn't up here. P&K in band is much more efficient than broadcast, University of Minnesota did band vs broadcast studies and got down to 40% of broadcast rate and still had a positive crop response. Unless you have an issue putting on P&K at crop removal rates is money wasted.
@@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 Great feedback. If things go as planned might have some split trials in the first few years. Would be nice to get down to 50% after finally getting the soils OM up to close to yours.
@@TwoHappyChildrenFarm you're hoping to get your soil organic matter up to 0.5%-3% There is so much data out there saying what a fallacy retail P&K are. Stay tuned
The strip till tool is a fantastic fertilizer applicator. If you have a soft soil a vertical till machine can make a nice seed bed. If you have more compacted soil then the shank of the strip till can help make a very nice seed bed without the need of turning the whole field over
