johan cruijff : very similar to maradona 86 : beast mode till the finals and a not so magical performance in the finals.. in terms of just footwork and tricks: Zidane was awesome : he really put on a show.. he also put in a lot of good through passes to Henry who unfortunately did not score... I think people who say zidane doesn't pass to Henry exaggerate.
@@kyraroychowdhury8759 because the opponents knew it would have become a trouble if they freed Maradona or Cruijff in the final, they fought bravely and stronger than before, made the stars hard to play, same as Messi in 2014.
@@raihantaqy2187 : I have watched hundreds of matches of Maradona, Cruyff, Zidane, Garrincha, Zico etc. During their off days, they still contributed and tried hard and hardly went invisible during a bad game which is not characteristic of Messi and even Ronaldinho !
As great as they are Ive never seen Messi or c ronaldo perform like this in big tournaments like this and his performances at the World Cup. Zidane performed LEGENDARY on the highest stage/level of football.. for that he deserves to be top 3-5 players in history.
Exactly, and that's why ppl who call messi and ronaldo as the greatest ever feel like they started seeing football since 2010s. They may be best club players but not best players ever since they r very mediocre as compared to what they do for their clubs. Zidane maintained the same level of magic at evey tournament and most importantly exelled im finals eg WC98, euro 2000 he was instrumental. Scored one of the greatest goals ever in CL2002 final. In 2006 WC france qualified bcuz he came out of retirement and took that ageing squad to final and if not for materazzi could have won it for the second time.
@@abhishekpal7394I agree with you man. Plus, the Ronaldo/Messi comparisons didn’t happen until a certain somebody retired from the game. Once Zidane retired in 2006, the next best thing the world had to offer was Kaka for a year and then Ronaldo vs Messi for 15 years. Another 15 episodes of Harry Potter vs Malfoy. Messi and Ronaldo are both too good to ignore, don’t get me wrong, they’d still be goal machines, but if they were established footballers playing in 2000 when Zidane was at his peak, I believe that they both would’ve still been at the mercy of Zinedine Zidane’s wizard-like influence at huge tournaments and big games.
Zidane really is the best international tournament performer there’s been. He did really amazing stuff at several tournaments. Some of his performances were so good that there’s more videos of them on RU-vid than the rest of the his French teammates combined. How he played against that Brazil team at WC 06 was absolutely ridiculous- nobody else could’ve done that, not even Cruyff or Pele himself. The France vs Portugal SemiFinal at Euro 2000 was also an insane display of things you couldn’t believe he was doing, to another big team too. That was what Zidane had to offer us.
@@zacharyreno2001 ronaldo & Messi indeed are goal machines and that's the reason why players like De Bruyne don't get enough credit since they can't put up stats like the two players. Messi has earned the right to be great now that he has won trophies with Argentina too but the same can't be said for Ronaldo as he hasn't won apart from Euro. Not even a SF with Portugal at the WC. Zidane won everything there was to win and he was always involved crucially.

Zidane is prbobaly more gifted than del piero, but del piero was hundred time more useful than Zizou when they played toghether. Both for goals and assists. Take a look at the highlights of the seasons 96 and 97 of juventus as example, and you'll see how much del piero made his team win all by himself.
Thanks for the answer ;) yes i know that he was a playmaker, he was my favorite and he is still is now, cause i always loved his touch. But to be honnest, even if he was my favorite player, he never was not efficient enough over an entire season in my opinion. it's like he always chose his games during his career. I think he was more made for tournaments than for long seasons, that's why he always was more efficient with the french selection.than with Madrid ( exept his first season ) or Turin.
@@karimelganbari8879 oh yeah then when Del Piero was injured in 1998, Zidane took Juventus from 1st place to 7thh place in Serie A. And no trophy at Juve since. After he left, Juve immediately won Serie A with Nedved. Del Piero at his peak (96-98) was better than Zidane ever was.
now i understand why zidane not statistically better than messi, he got everyone involve. with zidane,the team will become better. not like messi,everybody will only watch him doing something good. that affected the teams performance. while zidane collect the ball deep down and will distribute the ball to everyone,he will drag opponent into one direction and the ball will be distribute to all over the pitch. everybody contribute,unlike team with messi only 1 direction,that is messi direction only.

Oui et non. Les modalités de comptabilisation des passes décisives ont évolué. Il me semble qu'en 2000 était pris en compte la distance parcourue par le buteur . Ainsi, au delà d'un seuil déterminé, la dernière passe n'était plus considérée comme décisive.
