One of the most clever songs in musical theatre. Top notch performance by Ms. Carter - and I love the old school sound of the musicians - bold, brassy, strip-club style. Thanks for the great posting.
@stephenmitchell8733: The producers and house manager let you record this after you asked them? Wow! How much did you pay Dixie Carter?? THOUGHT SO A**HOLE!!
Holy cow came here because someone was praising Dixie's version of this song on All That Chat. Does not disappoint! Thank you so much for sharing this with the world.
I saw this revival twice - once with Eleanor Parker and then again with Joan Copland. How I hope someone has a complete recording of this production. Joan Copland singing BEWITCHED was to stall magic. Thank you for posting the great Dixie Carter singing a rocking version of ZIP. Isn’t it great to hear those Hart lyrics getting new laughs?
Edward Villella initially played Joey, but, like Eleanor Parker, left the production before it opened. IIRC, Chris Chadman replaced him. I saw the production early in previews. The show really did not work well in that space. Janie Sell was Gladys Bumps.
