KITPLANES avionics guru Larry Anglisano was at the Aircraft Electronics Association show last week and caught up with DMC Tools for a demo of the LaceLok. It's a combination of zip ties and conventional lacing methods in a pre-fabricated form. A trigger tool tightens and then snips the ends of special lacing bundles that use a low-profile buckle to maintain the clamping force. Waxed lace, used for years in aviation, is easier on wire bundles than plastic zip ties, which can eventually wear through the insulation.

As if we need to add a $600 dollar tool to every military electricians tool box. Someones going to get rich fast. I learned waxed lacing as an A&P early in the 70's. Cheap, easy to do, easy on wire bundles.

Interesting and maybe it’s just me but … wow… they seemed awful pricy compared to zip ties. Starting 35 dollars for a pack of 100 and 450 for the tool?

I has hoping for something clever that tied the knot on kevlar lace automatically.

It's neat. It's swell. It's by Matel! --- and cost ridiculously more than zip ties from Harbor Freight.

I was expecting something more automated based on the thumbnail and video title. Also it should use a large spool of the material then cut to length without wasted strips.

Not cheaper not faster pay attention when you’re using zip ties and they won’t do damage and you didn’t have to buy a $400 tool to cut a tiny piece of material if you really want a tool to cut the material put some toenail clippers in your pocket

Is this an SNL skit!? I like good quality tools but this is so over the top expensive it’s hard to believe they’re serious (in my ever so humble opinion).

It’s definitely not faster than zip ties. Come on man.

$650ish for a 'special' tool kit? $35 for 100? no competition to a $2 snipper and $2 for 100 tie wraps; Not very good market research unless they are targeting completely 'unwasteful' gov't contracts, instead of homebuilders. Still interesting, and I wonder how long until the completely scrupulous chinese are whipping out clones....

I may just get one so their representatives can come onsite and train 'my people' for my single seat ultralight build 🙂
