I love how zorro insert care about fuel evaporation and have one with full o rings and metal bottom lid and wick cap, it's like they want to solve the problem, while zippo happily selling their original design even adding a bump to the insert to make it feel tight while at the same time adding more gap letting even more evaporation going, since they sell zippo lighter fluid and have bought the competitor fluid brand too and slowly but surely rising up their lighter fluid price especially for people living across the ocean that have to pay for all the extra cost. I can get naptha and wash benzine from local chemical supplier for much cheaper but still it is annoyance to have to refill something weekly that is not being fully used just to keep them ready, and realizing you've been inhaling lighter fluid fume daily that is probably far more toxic than smoking just by carrying your zippo around especially in modern day where we live more indoor with sealed air conditioned vehicle and room, its not fun with the fuel fume being circulated and lingering in the air, no wonder zippo are just mainly collectors item and tools for fingers acrobatic tricks and resorts to gimmick rather than being a real deal edc lighter these days. I hope zippo is willing to upgrade their design and being a relevant dependable main lighter just like SAK/ victorinox that is a close comparison with their all in house production policy yet still being the best in their field and you can clearly see quality gap between original victorinox and the counterfeits and why should we buy the real deal, with zippo it is more about fine prints on the bottom and the details on the leaflet while the lighter itself is as good or the counterfeits might be even a much better deal price/ function wise.
I bought a Zippo before knowing about Zorro. I don't smoke. I want a survival lighter that runs on standard Coleman white gas. The Zorro's seem infinitely better for this purpose.
For lighter fluid Zorro cases and inserts are best, since some cases have o-rings and the metal gasket insert is good for saving fluid. For butane Zippo has more options and better quality, and the cases are fine for them since the butane is already sealed in the insert.
Question, if I buy a Zorro 912 it 912s off AliExpress, where can I get replacement flints? I found replacement o-rings on AliExpress, but not replacement flints. Can standard Zippo fint be used in a Zorro lighter (regular, not butane).
I have been using Imco Junior 6600 lighter for 20 years. My Imco lighters have seen a lot of things. One was washed in the washing machine along with my trousers. When it came out, I dried it and refilled it and it worked without any problems. I refill it approximately every 30 days and it is sufficient. I recommend Imco lighters.
The old zippos were tight. The current ones have are made looser with a linear stamped bar at the button which makes manufacturing cheaper for zippo but they leak fuel easier. Perfect example if zippo going cheap to increase profit margins. The zorro inserts are like the old school zippo(well fitted with tight tolerances. Shame on you zippo for going cheap on quality.
Great video bud, nice little side by side, I gotta say, if zippo came out with some brass butane inserts with fill windows, they'd skyrocket above and beyond IMHO. I like that there's options out there, I just wish it drove the the r&d and production from zippo into more creativity.
you should see the new hinges for the zorro, check out the model 912 and the 538. they look pretty dang solid, not to mention the gasket to keep the fuel from evaporating. In a perfect world, I would pick a zippo, i just kinda wished they did some upgrades to solve the evaporation issue. I dont like the idea of keeping a zippo topped off to only have it be empty after a week of just literally sitting there. I do love the zippo gas operated hand warmers though, pretty sweet when you dont have electricity
Agree it can be sketchy, sometimes your rolling the dice. If you want here's the link to the distributor I got these from www.aliexpress.com/item/4001028727008.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.520c1802eMU5uc
which zorro insert you get for old skool? thinking of getting armour brass 169 with zorro combo , btw i think you miss that zorro wheel can be easily change by a c clip , thats a game changer for those who dont stay in US , shipping cost is a bitch these days
@@monst3r_372 This is the stuff I love www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/emzone-ultra-premium-butane-gas-canister-cartridge-fuel-for-camping-stoves-lanterns-heaters-5-82-oz-0762087p.html?rq=butane
@@gearup9503 I see otherwise, I'll buy the previous model you showed in the video, the gold one and compatible with all Zoro cases? are the lightest cases 902 and 902s or is there any other? thank you😉
@@gearup9503 I bought the 912 with extra o-rings and flints. It won't arrive for like 2-3 months. I'll see how it compares to my Zippo after it arrives. I think I'll put the Zorro in my bug out bag.
@@gearup9503 becausa i buy a zippo insert, and dont have a case, and its more convenient buy a zorro lighter with case, and put the zippo insert in here than buy a other case
Zippo fan boy right there. Zorro are best for hinge and fuel leakage prevention zippos suck and people need to realise times change and products improve each to there own i guess.
