Ziroli 100" JU-87 Stuka Dive-Bomber scratch built RC Plane - Maiden after 35years

USAF Master Sergeant Les Heiderich scratch built this amazing Ziroli Stuka rc plane in 1988 and flew it once. It sat in storage for decades until Les's close friend Jeff Peterson brought it back to life in 2023. This is Jeff's maiden of this wonderful plane.

Great looking plane. Glad the "Maiden Flight II" went so well. Nice opportunity to put some exhaust stains and weathering on the old bird - if Jeff enjoys that sort of thing.

Awesome, only thing missing was the sirens but the engine tone approaching the viewer made up for that

I enjoyed the plane, but really liked the story about it. For sure, grass landing would help smooth out the landings. Jeff said he was giving full up to flare the landing, but she needed more throw and maybe move the CG back a bit.

Wow, it flies so well! Too bad he didn't fly and enjoy it more than just a maiden back in the day. I imagine he probably didn't want to risk it though after all that work.

I'm not sure. But, there is something about all that time and money and fear of flying them... I'm glad Jeff got a chance to get it going again.

Great flight! Seems like all taildraggers "like" to land a particular way. The wheeler approach looked great for the Stuka, but would really need a significant forward stick to keep it from bouncing. I reckon she'd settle really nicely if you could touch down in the three-point attitude. This is what maidens are for right? Getting to know your bird. Fantastic footage, great maiden.

Yep for sure. According to Jeff, he was giving full up elevator to try and flare but she wasn’t having it.

I know the feeling. I started flying back in the day when electric was planes weren't worth the time... Now, they are my only.. That said, these old planes make me want to get a big gasser some day... Thanks Will
