Oh boy better watch out Adam! First you go after the Chatterbait, and now you're beating them up on color combos too... Z-Man not gonna be happy with you! LOL Awesome color combo for today's video! When you said Holoshift in the intro I thought for sure you were going to use Copperpot, but Onyxia turned out more amazing than I thought! Great Stuff!!

Playing with fire, yes indeed. I considered Copperpot but there was enough copper-y goodness in Onyxia to justify it... and boy was I glad! LOL Killer stuff man, love it! "Dark Choc Dragon" would have been a good one!

That belly was stunning! Like you said both sides of the lure the same and look out Luigi! There wasn't any flies on that Dark Chocolate top either. I watch a lot of creek fishing channels and it would be so neat to see them using your creations.

Before I comment on this colorway, let me first say that you show some unexpected wisdom in listening to this old man about starting a color by first adding glitter.😅😅 Kidding aside that is one beautiful bait. Generally speaking I don’t think any of the manufactures, including Z-man, can match what we bait makers can do with custom builds. Too much effort, time and money. That color combination, with the changes to the chocolate (I thought you would add some black) and the color shift with the glitter in the belly, is superb and a reflection of the creative thought and consummate skills you bring to the table. The glory craw was a good mold choice as well.

Great looking mudbug!!! If you don't mind me asking , and I hear the microwave beeping while working on the 2nd color, what time increments do you use to keep the first color ready?

Great question. It really depends on how much I’ve gabbed while making the first one, LOL! If I yammered on and it’s under 300 I’ll give it a solid 30 sec and let it sit in the mic (stays warm but does cool a bit in there). If it was which… 10-15 sec bumps just to keep it close to shooting temps usually works.

Mr Adam great video as the norm. I have a question for you about flake? I know that you love to use flake in most of your soft plastics, my question is I think I’ve seen you use hobby lobby flake in the past. I was wondering how that withstands the reheating process? Does it curl up after so many reheats, or does it hold up like lure works and other flakes from the other various companies?

Hey Steve, thanks man! The Hobby Lobby flake was definitely heat sensitive. You'll want to add it right before shooting and yeah, you'll see some change upon reheat. I don't recall if the flake curled, per say, but you will lose some color and be left with more of the reflective material under the color... not a terrible thing if you don't mind, but if you wanted to retain that same look throughout reheats... that won't be the case. Hope this helps!

If I throw AT a pipe, I GUARANTEE my lure is going IN the pipe. Absolutely no doubt! Haha!! One question: how does using remelt compare to using "fresh"?

LOL, that is a risk! Re: remelt, you almost always have to vac it, so it’s a little more cumbersome to use (assuming your plastic comes out of the jug bubble-feee). Otherwise, it really depends on the quality of your plastic (how does it hold up to heat) and what flake you used (again… how does it hold up to heat/reheat). I love using fresh, but I won’t turn my nose up to remelt!

So much of it comes down to confidence. Yes… sharp hooks that retain their edge/point certainly make life better… but if you can swing on a big one and not be worried about a break or defect otherwise, save a few bucks when you can. That said… I do think you can go too far with left-field, no-name junk on Amazon… so I’ve always been a solid middle of the road guy, sticking with Mustad and VMC.
