Nice review! I agree, not only are these the easiest to recommend, I feel they can be pad rolled to a wide range of preferences easier than most other ZMF headphones. Keep up the good work! (Btw, it's Professor Falkin here, glad you are enjoying the cable!)
Good stuff man! As an owner since the beginning and being one of if not the biggest fans of the Aeolus, which I know you are aware of, I agree with everything you said. Keep up the great content brother! This is Wes S, from the forums by the way.
I just received my delivery of the Aeolus. I currently don’t own any tube amplifiers. Could you recommend tube amplifiers that pair well with the Aeolus (a) under $500, and (b) under $1,000 that would allow for the “tubiness”sound with the Aeolus? Thanks.
Hello Tyler Would you recommend Aeolus over Vérité, as a long-term all-rounder endgame single set of cans? or is it per your comparison to the Focal lineup - in tiers of Clear and Stellia/Utopia; more about the budget you're willing to spend? According to what i've read, almost all sources relay the impression that Vérité enjoys a substantial technical superiority over Aeolus; but Aeolus is almost half the cost. Still, I think Vérité would be worth it, if it really is as excellent as the review consensus implies.
i have both and the verite is clearly better. the aeolus is the warmest headphone i have ever heard though so its great if youre in the mood for like an over-abundance of warmth, but the verite is just incredible in every aspect. its probably the best headphone i have ever heard to be fair.
I ended up getting a Vérité Closed Monkeypod; and have commenced a search for a synergistic tube amp. Topping A90 probably isn't bringing the best out of Vérité.
Hello, Tyler, thanks a lot for the very good and detailed review. How would the Aeolus compare to the Hifiman Ananda? These are the ones I have but I’m thinking of upgrading them. For amplification I use a Naim Atom Uniti HE. Thanks a lot! Best wishes, Ignacio
Found your livestream of you talking about ZMF headphones and now I know who owns the purple Verite C that I saw on reddit! They really are beautiful, I own a pair of Cocobolo Auteurs, and wanna add more ZMF cans to my collection! They really are my favorite headphone brand! It is to the point that I plan on owning all my ZMF my whole life and wanna make sure I never run out of pads in case the company isn't around in 30/40/50 years, so I am starting to stock up on pads! Love the content!
Thanks for help guiding me down the ZMF path! i ordered Verite closed in Koa wood and hope to get open Verite or Atrium in Koa if I can’t find them in Camphor Burl wood. Love your Aeolus’, everything about them. I’ve never owned cans over $350 and only ever tested LCD’s and Abyss’ lineup one time at a local shop, so I’m in for a treat and know they will all sound great enough to me as I leaned toward looks, build, and rarity maybe even as much as sound, i’ll never get bored of looking at ZMF’s, and can treat them like family heirlooms even, hand em down to my kids and give/buy them as amazing gifts for loved ones. Happy hobbying and much respect brotherman 🤘🏼
Would you recommend these with the perf suede pads for someone who listens to a lot of modern music as well as the occasional blues rock/jazzy stuff? I'm talking like kpop(mainly female groups), EDM(dubstep and also old school dubstep with that deep sub). I dont do any classical. I want to it to be chill easy listening all day long, comfortable, but have good presence for female vocalists to feel like they arent being robbed. Absolutely love natural timbre. I'm coming from HD600. Wanting something to be an all rounder be all-end all headphone that can handle all genres and provide a high sense of enjoyment. I'm not AS concerned about absolutely loads of detail or technicalities, while its nice if those are at least decent, I can forgive it if it has a fantastic tonality and timbre, as well as good vocals. I feel like HD600 still is my ideal tonality so I'm worried this may have too dissimilar of a midrange, but I also heard Auteur can be rather boring, so I'm a little torn. Of course I dont mind having a liiittle less midrange presence but female vocals seem to really shine on the 600 the way they're tuned already. Auteur seems like the safer pick for me since I like HD600 mids, I really wish I could try before I buy but I cannot. Also are they distracting for passive listening or do they melt into the background nicely? I've considered just grabbing Aeolus for that great all round flavor can, and then just swapping back to the old 600s for when I want that breath of fresh air in my midrange as well.
I actually think that you may prefer the Auteur if you are looking for mid range...the Auteur are more similar to the HD600 and the Aeolus to the HD650 (comparatively speaking of course)...but the suede universe perforated pads would give you more mids on the Aeolus. But...if you are set on buying the Aeolus, the suede universe perforated pads would be the way to go. I use the hybrid universe perforated pads on mine so that I can squeeze a bit more bass and lower mids out of them. You can't really go wrong...I own an Aeolus and Atticus and have heard the Auteur and Eikon and I love all 4 of them. :)
@@hazi5961 Hey! its me again, right now im debating between the aeolus, elex and clears, if you've heard them maybe you could help out? if you havent heard the focals no biggie. just wondering how you think the aeolus stacks up against the likes of the elex for overall detail. lets assume i can snag aeolus for a good used price of around $850. focal support and warranty seems really bad, i'd have to get a new elex for $700 to feel safe personally. aeolus of course has the awesome zmf support. just wondering, if youve managed to hear them side by side or have owned both before, which comes out on top for overall detail and enjoyability?
I stopped counting after 2-3 min, it is easier to math it out: The word "Ohmm" every 10 sec x 6 x 24 min = 1440 So an easy way to improve future videos, is to leave out the word "ohmm". You are welcome :)
@@thehobbyistsshow3705 Nice! I hope you take it okay, being new on YT can't be easy and you need to find out how to do it. I work a lot with presentations and communication so I am used to look at what to improve. Just do more content and keep up the good, ohmm, work ;)
