After having the auteur and verite and also listening extensively to verite closed, for me nothing beats auteur. I think it's the most natural sounding headphones of all zmfs. Vocals and instrument timbre is spot on. Regret selling my auteur and I'll probably get an auteur classic.
Glad to hear about the Auteur Classic. I have never heard the Auteur OG but I own the Atium and love it! How does the Auteur Classic differ from the Atrium sonically? Is it different enough to own both? Thank you.
Dammit Zach…Oh man, you couldn’t pull me away from my original Auteur. If I had a dollar bill for every other headphone I’ve bought and sold as the Auteur just remained in place. And it will NEVER move… However, not saying I’m not curious 🤣 …So I guess the only exception to my previous comment is if/when I send it back to Zach for this upgrade!
I've been pretty happy with my current Auteur, but I might look into getting the upgrade someday in the future On the other hand, I've been waiting to get myself a Verite Closed... so I'm gonna be watching real carefully the next two days for the Macassar Ebony and the Stabilized VCs
One of the very best sets zmf makes. Don't be fooled by their lower price point. My classics sound better than headphones I have that cost over 2x the price or more. Just buy them.
Love that you’re creating an upgrade path for the OG Auteurers :) Wondering how the wood in the initial Classic Upgrade would compare to OG Blackwoods? Is the New Classic as sensitive to changes in cup density for sound characteristics as the OG Auteur?
When is this upgrade going to be available? Sight currently says “coming soon” - does that mean the first batch of 20 sold out, or the that it hasn’t been “released” yet? Looking to get in on the upgrade, as I love the current build o have, but the sonic adjustments, driver warranty, and overall evaluation seems to be exactly what I want for my current go-to headphone. Hey Zach, just wanna ask what earpads you put on the auteur classic when you do measurements shown in the video, and do you have a set of recommended pads for the auteur classic? Thank you!
Ah yes good questions! The auteur classic has auteur lambskin pads on the new and old set. I like the auteur pads best, but if wanting a more neutral lean, the Universe are great. Eikon for warmer.
