It's the town where I live. It is new, dull, but a good place for living. You only visited one of the parks we have here. There are far more and that's why I like it here. You may want to know Zoetermees was the best cycling town of the country in 2023, which was well deserved into my opinion.

Pretty cool to see my hometown where I’m living for 33 years now! Some fun facts about Zoetermeer also; The Zegwaardseweg was the last location where soldiers ate and slept while going to the civilian war in Leiden! (Leids verzet) There’s a watertower in Rokkeveen close to the Nelson mandela brug. The Noord Aa lake is a human hand digged lake where soil was won for the construction of Zoetermeer and by time it filled with water and they left it that way!

Thank you for visited my city 😊, we live here for almost 30 years, another fact : every suburbs has a number, you can read it the sign on the road, Stadhart Centrum no.11, it means 2711 postcode (Zoetermeer is 27). I see that your journey from Stadhart, Dorpstraat, Driemanspolder (Mandela brug) to West Park....wel a long walk 😊😊😊. Near Zoetermeer is Zoeterwoude, a very old city ...thank you again.

Hello I am someone who was raised up in Zoetermeer, there are still some parts of the Floriade left. The petting farm Balijehoeve is one of them. Also fun fact the part that is reclaimed, is still lower below sea level than the rest of the Netherlands.

Normally Floriade is build in locations that is meant to be a building site. Basically it a precursor to a larger plan for a city. It is why it only done every 10 year. For instance the Venlo event had a focus on greenhouse agriculture because they had plans for a dutch auction house in that area. It saved a lot of money because it was where the Germans bought their vegs.

In the past I’ve worked at Snowworld in the ski shop before the extension of the longest slope. It’s really great to go skiing or snowboarding for an hour and inside is a nice Austrian mountain lodge atmosphere, including an après-ski bar. I don’t know if they still do it, but in the summer they had a beachvolleybal area outside and in the winter there would be a ice skating ring. Fun fact, the ‘hill’ it’s build on used to be a dumping ground for rubble. They have build a park around it and you can run into some horses and highland cows. Once I saw a man walking his goat on a leash 😂

Great video as always you guys. I really laughed at your description of Zoetermeer though, l love your positive outlook. Mainly because I am 100% sure the words picturesque and Zoetermeer have never been used in the same sentence at once in the history of Zoetermeer. If you would say in Dutch: "Zoetermeer is Pittoresk", Dutch people will start to laugh and think it is satire. So therefore I think your positivity about Zoetermeer should be recognized and you should be awarded (Tabasco included) with a statue on a 'picturesque' spot in Zoetermeer immediately!

Since you spend quite a lot of time on history, it might be fun to look at the ordinary houses in the streets. Often there is a picture on it or the roof is a stepped gable, etc. Maybe you can find out what the meaning of the picture is on that gable. Was there a drug store or fabric store etc., the houses next to it were often for the working people etc.

Very cool! If you like videogames then maybe consider dropping by Blast Galaxy in Amsterdam if you're ever in the neighbourhood. It's across the water from centraal station and while it's an arcade, you don't pay for the machines, but instead buy an entry ticket which then lets you play everything for as long as you want, which is really cool!

Nice that you've visited my hometown! When you were at the mall, did you notice the UFO like building hanging above the western part? It's a fitness centre, but it's more suitable as a restaurant in my opinion cause of the view. Next time you visit Zoetermeer, be sure to check out the other parks on the edge of the city called Buytenpark (where you can find Snowworld) and a young forest/park called Balijbos.

Nutricia's A-quality baby milk powder was very popular (meaning safe) amongst parents in Asia. A couple of years ago Asian customers were hoarding bulk supplies at Dutch drugstores. Stores had to limit the numbers customers were allowed to buy....

Guess you haven’t been to Schiedam yet? The mills there are (by my guess) the largest. The height amidst other buildings has to do with the necessity to catch wind… in other words compared to regular mills, these city ones ‘start’ up from the height of the neighboring roofs.

Molen de Noord in Schiedam is the tallest windmill in the world. Mind you, not counting wind turbines. Schiedam has one of them too, De Nolet, which is shaped like an old windmill and is used to power the Nolet Distillery, where Ketel One gin and vodka is made. It’s open to visit by the public.
