A comparison between the Zoldyck Family Theme from the 1999 and 2011 versions of Hunter x Hunter. Video features Killua, Illumi, Zeno, Silva, Kikyo, Maha, Kalluto, Milluki, Alluka/Nanika and Mike Which version do you prefer?
The Black Kakashi I would honestly more say 1999 - Portraying intense evil 2011 - Exuding intense menace But I can see where your coming from with that.
I feel like 1999 is the Zoldycks at home. Aristocratic, grandiose, with dark undertones on full display. 2011 is them on a job. Slow, sombre, deliberate, and overwhelming, but not malicious. They don't do this for fun, after all. It's just the family trade.
That’s pretty accurate. Zeno points this out in both adaptations, claiming that this a job and not a hobby. Although some of the kids, especially Illumi and Kalluto, have a twisted sadistic side (well especially Kalluto, Illumi is simple twisted love).
Both are really good, 1999 gives off a vampire feel but I would have to say I prefer 2011 I love how overpowering it sound (it just sounds very satisfying, gets you pretty hyped)
@@jeenadjo1238 Nope, in my opinion, the first one sounds like a 17th century orgue, repetitive or with a single melody , nothing scary. The second has a deeper atmosphere, more malefic, dark, with the choirs and the instruments in the song.
ww jd It really does, and how sad can you be, looking at my channel has nothing to do with hxh. You know you’re losing the argument, Come back when you have a valid reason. 😭
Let's be honest 2011 fits them better. Imagine a family of assassins in both scenarios Family+99 theme= mehhh sounds like they're trying too hard, and too cliche Organ makes it sound like the Adams family.... Family +11 theme= holy shit these guys are gonna kill us.
for me it was like : Family +11 theme= sounds like an ogre is coming out (especially the intro xD) Family+99 theme= holy shit these guys are gonna kill us
silver girl lame. I've seen both as a kid back in 99 and 11 as an adult. 11 theme is far more overpowering and imagine you're in a dark room. With both songs playing. 99 is creepy yes like you're in a haunted house, but 11 makes you feel very uneasy like something and someone is watching you and trying to kill you. Fits perfectly for the zoldycks
RaytedR i watched the 99 version and i tried to watch the new one but i couldn't accept the changes in the soundtrack and especially the bright colours and that "too good" image quality...i guess i'm just a weird person with an old soul that loves to stick to old things 😂 (i'm not that old though)
silver girl on the old 99 version, when a zoldyck family member shows up their theme song that plays in the background is too cheesy, on the 11 version when a family member shows up with their theme you know it's business, and you have to watch out.
I've seen both 1999 and 2011. It's merely a matter of preference. The organ gives it a sinister and a more ancient feel to it. The 2011 version is pretty mellow for me at least. Even the fight scene between Chrollo and Silva/Zeno, I liked the darker colored and grittier version in the 1999 version. Again, it's a matter of preference.
1999: Gives off a sort if vibe that they are dangerous, but it sort if makes them sound like vampires. 2011: It gives you this chilling vibe that they are powerful, and you REALLY do NOT want to get mixed up with them.
Isabella Delgado Well he's a 2d drawn image of a grown man in a family of assassins who's cares deeply and loves his brother killua more than anything. So in short,no it is not wrong however don't expect much love from him because he loves killua.
You hear the lineage of the Zoldyck family in the 2011 track. The weight of so many generations of killing to the point that it’s become an art. Assassins fated to earn aristocracy through power and intimidation alone.
The 2011 one sounds so much more chilling in my opinion, I really like the accompaniment of the choir in the background...and its generally slower pace compared to that of the 1999 version.
1999: Cruel, viscous, hellish, somewhat badass. 2011: Silent, fearless, discreet, dangerous, sadistic, and sadistic, added to a troubled and twisted past affecting the present.
So obviously 2011 had a budget that 99 couldnt dream of, so a direct comparison is unfair. 2011s Zoldyck theme is amazing beyond words. That being said, 99 still manages to capture a fantastic dark atmosphere that doesnt need complex orchestrated melodies moving over each other like 2011.
I feel like the '11 theme says more about how powerful the Zoldyck family really is. I mean, 2 spearheaded an assault on mutant killer ants, one came back from the Dark Continent with souvenirs, one is besties with a killer clown, 1 could kill you in a cruel and painful way from ANYWHERE, no matter how strong you are, 1 fought the leader of the Phantom Troupe, one is IN the Phantom Troupe, and one beat the everloving shit out of PRIME NETERO.
StillNoUsername wait who beat Prime Netero? Hisoka? Don’t think Zeno will beat the living hell out of Netero, I mean Netero went againts the king of all people
OMG i typed in hunter x hunter and dance of the knights to see if there was a mashup or something but then i came to this video and found this. Glad others hear it too lol
I’m not gonna lie the 2011 one is so graceful and majestic it reminds me of a theme some one with a white dress with a laced skirt. But that person is also a murder who’s really powerful and kills majestically.
1999 was like the zoldyck fam in their normal habitat while 2011 was like one of them just finished their assassin job or threatening other people, both are amazing ❤️
1999 feels like something you would hear in a grimmer, darker alley after some character's older brother/idol just died and they vow revenge 2011 is like a mafia family all dressed up at some party of a bunch other families, then get involved in a shoot out and dying one by one with insane smiles on their faces. I still like both equally though.
1999 is darker, more angsty, sinister, corrupt, insane, brutal and tragic. 2011 is more nonchalant, arrogant, mendacious, cunning, narcissitic, classy and old rich aristoratic in my opinion. i love both
99's fits for vampiric, frontal and grande character, it's kinda like "the truth is finally uncovered" and climactic theme. While 11's fits for behind the shadow and brilliant mind character, gives me a mysterious vibe. It fits Zoldyck more.
The 1999 version sounds like it should be the theme song for Dracula. The 2011 version sounds like the moment right before you get murdered by a family of assassins and your whole body is cold and you're frozen in terror because you know what's about to happen but it's too late to do anything because now your dead.
Y'all are looking into how the theme fits their family, I'm just over here straight up vibing, 1999 slaps and I listen to that shit all the time, period.
I personally prefer the 2011 version, it just seems more fitting for an odd, strict and murderous family. It really captures their creepy but also formal essence
I like how they added singing to the 2011 version, but I feel like that theme suits JUST Illumi. I like the 1999 version better tho. But I love them both!
I prefer 1999 theme because it really helped scenes to have a dark, dracula, creepy atmosphere, especially in the Killua vs Illumi scene. But, i also like how the 2011 theme is a reference of dance of the knights by prokofiev
Okay but I unironically love the 2011 ZoooOOoldyck theme so much even though it kinda takes off some of the tension seeing as I'm always laughing too much whenever it plays
Of course not. It sounds like a Dracula theme because it has inspiration from Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor (the main theme of many Dracula old movies). However, the 2011 theme has a relation with Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet Suite; "Montagues and Capulets" for piano or most known as "Dance of the Knights" for the orchestral arrangement. So The 2011 Zoldick's theme has no association with Vampires or something related to Dracula :v
I don't understand why everyone prefers 2011 version of Zoldyck's theme. This new one is far from being bad, but it does not fascinate me as much. 1999 is angsty, it really evokes danger and death, in a very solemn and Dantean way. (Damn organ is the best instrument on earth.)
Me too. A lot of people prefer 2011ver. But it is not my taste. And I think that 2011 music don’t fit 2011 art style. It is too grand for childish, bright and unreal-cartoonish art style. Orchestra music with childish art style and unsophisticated direction(purple background color direction, sound/music direction, killua’s smirk face like TikToker)sometimes makes scene into cheesy comedy moment. I am tried of hearing Zoldyck~♪chorus in anime. That melody is more funny than fear to me.
When you hear the beginning 1999 version: Adams family? Vamiipareeeee house? Dracula come clam your daughter vibe. ✨PROPER✨🍵✨ we rich a bit cray cay but nah mostly When you hear the beginning 2011 version: OOOH SHIIT, FUCK, THINGS 👏🏾ABOUT👏🏾TA👏🏾GO👏🏾DOWN. THOSE EYES THOOO. Crollo sing your heart out until killua rips it outttt. We not just cCRAY CRAY, WE scary scary 😦 CHILL HAUNTED HOUSE VIBEEESSS. church??
To me the 2011 theme matches the Zoldyck family better. There's a "it's funeral time _soon_" part in it. For example it was used in episode 33 to show Killua feeling his "Zoldyck" side when he found out Sadaso and Gang got Gon to fight. In the 1999 episode 43 they had Killua destroy stuff instead. Neither the 1999 Zoldyck nor Killua themes would have worked well. Similar for when Killua was talking to Illumi in the final exam (2011 episode 20) it started with Killua's theme first then his theme stopped and was replaced by the Zoldyck theme...
1999 if they were from the 1860’s, with a long bloodline connected to Dracula or black Butler. 2011 for modern day: it’s overpowering but still barely scratches the surface of how intense they are. I feel like they play the 1999 one in their basement like it’s a medieval torture dungeon
