Have you tried using cardboard instead of a papertowel for drybrushing? I think you'll find it makes getting the right amount of paint on the brush for dry brushing easier.
Thanks for the effort you put in making this video. I'm a 45 year old dad painting his first miniatures army and your video helped me a lot, not only for the technique you show, but mostly for motivation ;)
And thank you for commenting my friend! Makes me so happy to hear that I have been able to motivate you! Are you going to pick up the brush and start to paint? 😀
Great video! Not painted mini's for about 25 years, having had a motorcycle accident and bed bound for some time I've got the 2nd edition to paint. This videos perfect for stating out thank you.
Ah yeah, painting if you are in pain is impossible, but good that you are back again, there are a few minis waiting for you here haha. Hope you will have a great time painting them my friend :)
Great focus and stamina! Painting nearly 90 minis in a couple of weeks is a daunting task. Suggest using sharpened cocktail sticks (toothpicks) for black eye dots. Thinning your paints slightly helps with smooth application and nice finish and rinsing your pencil frequently in water (every 2 to 3 brush-loads of paint) will help keep paint applying well and prevent paint creeping up into the heel where it can cause the bristles to splay out. I
Haha yes 90 minis was...a lot! But it looks great on the table 😀 Ah nice mate, thx for the tips! Have not painted in a while now so I will definitely take these tips with me! ❤
Dear Richard, how cool and how beautiful to create such a video I have never seen before. I started just the way like you, Sorastros Painting was my inspiration. Now I have three Zombicide Games fully painted. And for my children it is a big fun to paint THERE minis with some funny details and pink socks and the love logo on the chainsaw and at the end sign their names on the bottom of the bases...keep on
Thank-you! I'm happy you liked it! Ah, yes, it's a process to get it all done and to learn it all. But when it's done, you feel so, so proud of yourself! Ah, nice mate!! That's a lot of minis, haha! Bet it looks great :D
Awesome video again, perfekt painting, changes the game . Painted last week the miniatures for Mansions of Madness. Took the whole weekend ... now I will try Zombicide 2, because of your great video, greetings from Austria 🙈
Thank you for these kind words! It's because of comments like these I keep on doing what I do! As nice, I love Mansion of Madness!! You should go for it my friend! But take your time as it takes time to get this done, but you can do it 😀 Thank you again!
@@JendersGaming update, the total expense is now 300€, I've bought the two main expansion while I was at it 😅 I still need to find the varnish at a reasonable price and I'm all set. Thanks! I hope I'll find enough time to paint these steadily. Thanks to your video I feel much more confident I'll at least reach a decent result. Can't wait to start! Keep up the good work 👍
Haha, yes, the amount has a tendency to grow like that! Sounds absolut great mate and I think you will do great as well! When it's all done, you will feel so proud! 😀 happy to help!
Awesome video Jenders! I play a lot of tabletop card games, but just bought Zombicide 2nd edition with minis, and I'm loving it. So much that I want the zombies in technicolor and not just plain grey lol. So, I'm new to painting minis, but your detailed process of painting from early steps to the very end of it, it's just amazing. Hope I finish with half a good job as you've done. I'm gonna try and find that army painter set of colors definetely.... P.S. The white and the pupil of the survivors' eyes looks pretty scary to do, might end with six cross-eyed survivors hahaha. Greetings from Barcelona, Spain!!
Hi my friend and thank you for this comment! Makes me really happy to read! Welcome to the world of minis! No the gray mini colors are not that cool, anything other than that will do haha :D The Army Painter set is quite awesome as you get everything you need to get started, the primers and the washes will also help you to get done alot faster :) Ah yes the eyes, every time I'm going to paint eyes I start to shake!! Deep breath, elbows into the side of your body and start with painting the white, then the pupils and lastly cover up with skin color ;) You can do it mate! Would love to get a follow up once you are done :D Greatings from Sweden 🇸🇪
Thank you and thx for writing! Im so happy to hear that, was exactly what I wanted to achieve with the video :) It was a lot of work, but man was it worth it in the end! Looks way better on the table now 😀
Haha yes that one was quite hard, my tip is to paint the full sign first, let it dry and then take a flat brush and gently stroke over the text :) Have you started to paint them yet? 😀
@@JendersGaming I started the first core set of version 1 and done some addon figure sets first. As you mentionned it takes a lot of time and effort/will and determination to sit down and paint. :)
Just bought Zombicide 2nd edition, plus the painting set, so your video is just the perfect fit for me, cause i'm a beginner ! You said several times that the paint is really thick, do I need to add a bit of water to it ? Thank you really much for your help/tips and have a great Christmas/New Year's Eve ! Cheers from France !
That is awesome to hear me friend! You are in for a treat 😀 Yes after applying the paint to the brush you can ad just a bit of water, it will make the paint flow a little better as well, just don't take to much water. 😉 Thank you so much for commenting 😀 If I can do it, you can do it! And merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤ new years eve to you as well!
@@JendersGaming Thank you very much for responding to me! And thank you for the water tip! And for the kind words! As I was watching the video, I was saying "I'm pretty sure he did all of this in at least 48 hours, then you talked about 65 hours, do yeah, I'm in for a treat indeed! Cheers!
NP mate, love to help :) haha yes...this takes time...lots of time, but I also painted Washington C.Z on those hours so only 2ed will take a little less time 😉
nice vidéo , bit for me ii's a little weird to begin with the darkest coulours because I prefere fixing this kind of mistakes with a light color which is a lot more simple I gess.
I believe army painter sells the metal beads. They are cheap. Drop one in your bottle, makes mixing the pigments back into the paint a breeze. If you want to drop a few more bucks you can buy a shaker.
Thx for the tips my friend...but I have actually already bought those things 😉 haha I got tired of all the shaking 😅 Thx for stopping by to comment, hope to see you here again!
Thank you for taking the time to write these kind words my friend!! Made my day brighter 😀 I'm so happy that you want to stay around! So will/have you painted this set?
@@JendersGaming you are most welcome!🙃 i am thinking i will get it one day and paint some up for my younger brother as he LOVES anything to do with zombies! movies walking dead video games you name it hes into it! it would make a great gift this last year for christmas i painted him a red gobbo from citadel games workshop and he loved that i still have to finish my imperial guard army its been a project for the last 6 months i have painted 80 infantry i want to paint 20 more so i am close to my goal then i have 5 tanks to build and paint! then i will be done! woo hoo! anytime i finish 20 guys i am so proud of my self i honestly just got back inito the hobby when i got sober i was really addicted to heroin and it was a great hobby when i was a kid i loved it and now it helps keep me sane! anyways thats my life story LOL i hope that wasnt too much to read! i hope you have a great weekend bro! thanks for replying it means a lot to me!
Ah so you have been painting before? And now you are back! That is awesome! most ppl wound not make a trip like that so you should be damn proud of yourself! Better (and a bit cheaper) to paint minis instead haha. And so nice of you doing that for your brother can imagine that means a lot to him, especially when it comes from his big brother :) Yeah, it is a huge amount of work painting these little ppl, but its sooo worth it, the table just looks 110% better, and in some way it almost works like meditation for me, I just sit there for a few hours and sink into my own little world and forget the rest for a while :) Good to her you made it out my brother!
@@JendersGaming thank you so much! it is very meditative i always feel good after a painting session! maybe once i get my army finished i can figure out how to upload a short video so you can see my work! its not as detailed as yours but i am still proud! thank you for taking the time to talk to me you are very kind! i hope you stay safe and enjoy your weekend!
i also have a small i home a friend gave my younger brother and my ipod luckily works with it so i put on some chill music often as well i also just ordered a painting lamp from amazon! so that should step up my game! :D
Hey, what about the stretch goal minis? ;-) Just kidding, it is so much work you put into those things. Your minis look really awesome! What a table presence. As soon as I am done with my WH40 Orks army I will start my own Zombicide project.
Hahaha...ehh yeah about those... Yeah, it does all the different, it went from looking cool to awesome, I still play this game a lot so it was so worth the effort! Ah nice! What Zombicide games do you have?
@@JendersGaming Yeah definitely worth it! I only own the 2nd edition. I have almost all the stuff there is from this game. Painting all of it is going to be messy. With my skills I suppose it will likely take more than your good 60 hours (-;
The 2nd Edition is enough there is so much gameplay in that box, it will keep you active for a long time haha Yeah, it takes time, lots and lots of time, but in the end it's worth it. That for stopping by my friend! Appreciate a good talk 😀
Great Video :))- This is honestley thes best table top game out there.... what i don't understand is why that company does not sell more of the 2nd edition in normal shops and everywhere... Its mind blowing they have a really strange and not very good marketing division i think. Where i live everyone i talked to about it has wanted to play it or buy it but cant becasue they can not find it anywhere. Im happy i bought the entire 2nd edition box and sets. It makes me sad though that they do not mass produce this game.
Yes the game is absolutely epic, I love it and it is a lot of fun! You are right, I have been wondering the same thing, don't know why you don't see this in every store, but maybe that's the way the like to keep it :) Thank you so much for commenting and for your kind words my friend!
@@JendersGaming Yeah its a strange thing.. If you you like history there is another table game me and a friend play sometimes becasue we are not huge table top gamers but like trying new things... its called BOLT ACTION. Also really fun and good models to paint.
Nice job ! How did you do the pink and blue on Wanda though ? I can’t see these Colors in the army paint set. Did you use other Colors than those given in the box ?
Np mate, no not really, I mean it might be fun for you to add some lighter colors, but it's really up to you how you want the "army" to look like :) I added some colors just to make a bit of difference in this game when it's on the board, but really I did not need to do that. Was just for the fun of it :)
@@JendersGaming I started to paint my firsts miniatures, your video helped me a lot! thank you =). i have one more question, which washe did you use for zombies? strong tone or dark tone? Which one do you prefer?
@@JendersGaming haha. I just got my speed paints set and finished priming zombicide 2nd edition myself. I'm doing 3 spray can zenithal prime black gray and wraithbone. Really adds a lot of depth.
@@JendersGaming It's going very slowly haha. I've got 9 fatties painted but they look fantastic so far using pretty much only speed paints. The only exception being metallic colors and using white paint to cover up and repaint some spots. I've also used plain white colors for the eyes, but to be honest the eyes are so tiny on these models that I don't do a ton with them.
That great mate! Better a slow process than none at all 😀 Yeah the speed paints goes a long way and gives tje minis a great look. I'm quite happy with the results myself. Just keep on painting and eventually you will get there my friend 😀
