love how they have further streamlined the game by eliminating doors and now only one 'noise' token looked at the rulebook component list and my heart swelled with joy to see only 29 tokens in the whole game.
They are now asking VAT separately, but at least for eu, they lowered the EU shipping costs from 50-60$ to 14-25$. I.e. they were previously including the VAT into the shipping prices. That's why they were so dang expensive. Now they have separated them and the shipping costs are very reasonable suddenly. Now, the VAT cost will depend how much you buy. Buy only the base pledge and its low shipping + reasonable VAT. If you buy everything, then it will probably be more than before.
i couldn't resist. I hope for a "Mini" Train and Coach. The SG Hero's so far are great (hoping for more native Americans). I'm super excited for the Daily Duel's.
I’m prepared for that higher price tag. I made the mistake of never backing any of the other zombicide board games and still feel like an idiot for never backing season 1 and second edition even though I really wanted them lol. I won’t make that mistake here.
I suspect the new VAT regime in Europe (inc the UK) is going to hit demand for KS boardgames. Many will, imo, be too expensive compared with buying released games at retail. Or maybe it's goodbye to deluxe options and just buy the core boxes, possibly not a bad decision in itself.
You forgot one additional reason not to back it: as an EU backer there is no way you will pay +17%-27% VAT additionally unless you are in some kind of mad love with this game. Compared to other Zombicides I'd rather play with Black Plague or Green Horde too. How they've treated MD2 backers +1 reason not to back it.
I think that Townsfolk Tussle will already satisfy the itch that Zombicide would satisfy. Thanks for the explanation, your videos are much nicer than reading a big kickstarter page.
For me, Night of The Living Dead - a Zombicide Game was one of the easiest, painless and on-time delivered KS's ever. I didn't expect to want to get another Zombicide but I sure do like this theme. However, with the added shipping and VAT+import charges this won't really be worth it/be too big of an investment compared to how much I want it.
Thanks, Alex. I never got into the fantasy/medieval Zombicide games as I prefer my zombies of the modern era. I sold seasons one, two and three in anticipation of zombicide 2nd edition. Even though I have 2nd edition coming along with its Fort Hendricks and Washington expansions, I find myself inexplicably drawn in by this theme. Not sure if I will back yet, but if I keep following this daily, I can see me doing so ... ESPECIALLY if they come out with a 3D train add on!! OMG, that would be awesome!

Always appreciate your unbiased opinions, even for an IP you love. I was going to back this as my first Zombicide game but forsee it being a mostly solo experience. In the end I think it will be a pass; Machina Arcana is in the que and probably a better fit for me. Then a year later I'll be more excited for 7th Citadel. Can't play them all...
I think the coolest addition is the quest deck to get powerful weapons. I'm thinking of creating a custom one for black plague now. I love that it gives you something to accomplish, small goals, throughout the game and rewards you with a prize. Plus you must complete a certain number to even win.
If anyone from the UK is on the fence about getting it or waiting for retail, here are some sums to show why it makes sense. If you're only getting the base game and if CMON have given correct shipping estimates, it could be really good value for money. The base game alone will cost $100 (+ VAT) and they've estimated shipping in the UK to be $18 (+VAT again I assume). That would be $120 + $21.60 = $141.60 but lets round that up to $145 incase shipping is a little higher. Converted in to real money ...😂... that's £103/104. Considering the game would likely retail around £70-75, that means all unlocked stretch goals and daily duel minis are costing only £30. For comparison, the 2nd Edition campaign ended with over 80 extras unlocked.
My biggest complaint about CMON lately is their stretch goals. They throw a big box of fancy miniatures at you, but it's mostly a bunch of slightly-different-but-mostly-the-same characters and alternate sculpts. They save the stuff that actually affects gameplay for the add-ons, and I just can't throw hundreds of dollars at more of the slightly-different-but-mostly-the-same game.
I'm new to Zombicide, and I see that they are adding tons of extra characters as stretch goals. How exactly do the characters differ from each other? As far as I can tell, the only difference between characters is which of the 4 classes they belong to, so I don't see the point in adding more of them.
@@SteveOw0 Characters level up a few times each game as the zombie threat level increases and each time get access to a new "perk" or choice between a couple perks. The only real difference between characters historically has been which perks they have access to. Most characters excel in a certain area (melee, ranged, support, etc), and in this game it seems they've given them actual classes with particular abilities, but at the end of the day many of the characters feel very same-y. Extra characters are great, but the 40+ extra ones you get in the base pledge alone are overkill. Don't get me wrong, Zombicide is a great game and the Kickstarters are a good value. If you don't own any Zombicide games, this looks like a great place to start. Just don't get tricked into thinking that the stretch goal box is doubling the content just because it's doubling the miniature count. You'll get a few extra cards and missions, and a some of the zombies will have special rules, but all of the stuff that changes gameplay significantly is in the add-ons. Even then, I don't think the gameplay changes in the add-ons are significant enough to justify the price much of the time. If you just back the base pledge I think you'll get more than enough content. I know that contradicts everything I just said, but that's coming from someone who already owns a couple Zombicide games and likes them a lot, but doesn't see enough of a difference between the versions of the game to want more. At the end of the day they're all reskins with a few rules tweaks. So yeah, if you have any interest at all, back it and don't let my complaints sway you. It'll resell if you're not happy with what you get.
I feel the same. It’s because the characters could only have so many outfits in a western theme as oppose to Black Plague. That’s partly why so many in the KS comments are asking for more Natives, Mexican, and African American survivors and zombies.
@@skuo118 The precedent told us that there're two expansions coming. My guess is they will make one with Natives, and maybe one with more outlaws and lawmen.
@@skuo118 That's my issue with the game so far. They could basically just give you the core 14 minis and lots of different character cards to use with them as the stretch goal minis all look so similar. I think CMON haven't helped themself by starting out with either historical figures or references to movies that are over 20/30/40 years old.
It's also because CMON want to make as much single molded models as possible. So every figure has the same pose with arms, guns, sword etc one the sides, like they are flat. Poses are not very dynamic, but it saves money, which is important I guess when you consider the crazy amount of unique scult there is.

Still have never back a CMON game but thought i might dip my toe into Zombiecide though (i have never played). However i am from the UK so i won't be backing this. I wonder how many UK/EU people are in the same boat? Would be interested to find out the stats on this and what others think?
If you go on the community tab on the kickstarter you'll see that the European backers are down quite a bit compared to the 2nd Edition kickstarter, but I guess there is still time for people to get involved. As for me, I'm still in at the minute but only for $1. if you have no Zombicide - Yes absolutely. The backer numbers first day were actually higher then modern 2.0, it doesn't get extra value from owning a bunch of things and the gameplay is solid. new elements: class powers : once a turn powers on top of your general zombicide powers along with on class passive (for example the civilian type can shoot two spaces inside instead of one) machines : basically the trebuchet, you do a ranged attack with escalation with the gattling gun which lets you add more dice the more times a turn you use it train: the train moves through the board killing zombies and changing line of sight. fiddley no doors: the worst part of zombicide was roll to open doors, thats gone 1 noise token: you used to have to put noise on every space to figure out ai movement for every sound, now just the last sound counts. no escalation: this is a negative, you can't try to take down big bads through a desperate last chance attack Achievement weapons : instant free weapons for doing the achievement on the back are layed out every game = brilliant bringing back double static spawns : in fantasy there were necromancers and abominations, and the necros would create a double spawn point and try to escape off the map, in space you had two different ways abominations would drop spawn points around a map, were back to only abominations and the aboms create a static extra spawn point when they appear. overall the least interesting spawn mechanic I've seen. it's the most boring zombicide since the og seasons, it's the less interesting for CMON fans that like to use zombicide in other games and have big collections. But $100 is still a GOOD deal. Cmon is like mcdonalds. you wonder how the dollar menu was a dollar for 10 years, and if you were getting ripped off 10 years ago because it's still the same price and the product actually got better. For me, it's a no, I have too many zombicides and this doesn't mix with other games like those do.
So this was the most interesting Zombicide gameplay I have seen because I liked the simplified Noise token... It looks really fun and the theme isn't bad...
I think that now KS companies are having to charge EU & UK backers VAT on top then for people who just want the core it is now much more value to buy it at retail than the 'new' price just to get KS extras.
Agreed... The kickstarter price lately were not THAT enticing, but it was still nice.. Now i get saddled with vat too? I see myself backing a lot less stuff :)
Had no interest in this till I took a peek and saw the cowboys. Forgotten how much I loved westerns. If they give us the drifter, I’m in! But I’d also love to see Deadman, the Lone Ranger or even Zorro and dare I say it Mediceo. And I can imagine the Pony Express (rules for horses) and Little Bighorn expansions. It’d be interesting how they handle going in this direction or even the Civil War, plenty of zombie story there. Would also love to see more of those American mythical creatures. They don’t get much love. Not so sure about Tom Sawyer, that broke Sean Connery...
I’ve been wanting to buy Black Plague as that theme is great for me and seems like some of the best gameplay. I’ll primarily be playing solo so I really value your comment about Black Plague being a better solo experience.
BUT my struggle is value. It’d be fun to have western zombies and be able to jump into a big Kickstarter bundle with a late pledge. Leaning towards Black Plague and wulfsberg for probably around the price as I’d jump into undead or alive with.

I love every rule change and streamline in this addition. However, Here's to hoping the next one is Pirate themed. For me personally that resonates more. Charles Vane, Barbosa, Morgan Adams, Dread Pirate Roberts, Black Caesar, Captain Hook, One Eyed Willy, even Keith Richards!! That sounds way more fun than this. Not to mention all the fun they could have with sea creature abominations. I'll still back this. but if Pirates ever releases, Undead or Alive will be an easy sell to fund that.
So far there is not much new stuff in this newest Zombicide compared to other Zombicides. The Western theme is neat, but not that deep, and definitely a matter of taste. I wonder when CMON will make Black Plague 2.0 or another SciFi Zombicide. Do you think something like that could happen in the next 12-24 months?
Same. And with the added VAT, happy I got in on the 2nd edition. Although I'm not sure it's really that much of an increase as I noticed they also dropped their shipping prices for EU by half (30-47) to now (14-25). I paid lowest estimated shipping for 2nd edition, if it's lowest again, that would maybe amount to 10$ more with vat included. So seems like EU shipping definitively already had some VAT included in their previous campaigns.
I'm at the point where I always back every CMON, but just the base. Then I can make all my money back just by selling the extras box. Basically a free game.
With Massive Darkness 2 still out there I probably don't need to feed further into their possible Ponzi scheme. This does seem like a great potential for a zombie setting, but one where you can really easily veer into some questionable tropes. I would be all about a zombie train scenario though, some Busan in the old west action.
I've missed almost every past Zombicide. I skipped NotLD and then got it at retail. I found a sealed Green Horde KS with Horde box locally and fell in love. I'm totally expecting a heavy all-in, standard fare on a CMON campaign.
As you said, there is already a lot of other zombicides... I love black plague, and all the stuff around black plague - expansions, guest boxes, And that is all I need. No need to buy or back more. But as a Zombicide lover I do recomend to back this CMON new Zombicide :D Zombicides are more like about ... The atmosphere you love the most :D DO you love Western? Back this project. Do you love Scifi? Buy the Invader, You love Medieval fantasy? buy black plague or green horde, And do you love everything? You buy everything! :DD That is what it is about I guess ! :D :)
I promised my wife this would be THE LAST Zombicide game I buy. CMON, please... please...im begging you, don't EVER release a WWII themed Zombicide. US Airborne survivors? German SS troop zombies? I'll be living in my van down by the river if you do. Zombicide! I just can't quit you!

Not sure if international backers will get a turnover price on a $145 + entry cost. Looking to see how much game this will have compared to for instance a frost haven or ISS Vanguard. But have to admit that the western theme is a nice theme and probably have me for the first time interested in the series.
Alex is there any word on the upgraded season 1 character cards for modern Zombicide being available outside the 2.0 kickstarter? I asked cmon if it would be available in this kickstarter but they said only optional buys related to the current project would be available in the pledge manager.
I'm a complete newbie to Zombicide, I've always known about it but never really looked into it until last week when I seen this was going on KS so I bit the bullet earlier and backed it. Really wish I had've been around for the 2nd Edition but hopefully this holds up!
i'm super hyped about this one. my only hope is that some of the stretch goal unlocks have some more non-western pop culture references. (for example, i think green horde had wolverine and prince, and 2nd ed had john wick and childish gambino.) regardless, it's ~$300 already spent for me. the wife has been warned and the shelf space has been claimed. :D

I wish they sold just the miniatures for like 65 dollars maybe 70, and I'd add on that train, but the game itself I don't need. Not saying it is bad, but if you already got Zombicide 2e then this is merely like Night of the Living Dead a re-theme of Zombicde, and I'd rather have an Ash and Army of Darkness theme if I were playing Zombicide which would then be called Deadites. I could easily do without extra ancient undead PASS, wooden dice PASS. So if I bought it, it would be for the miniatures, and the abominations and one use would be to take certain heroes or abominations to use them in regular Zombicide. Such as I like the Pusabomination and the Alpha Abomination.
How would a play this not that between zombicide and similar games like Massive darkness 2 end? Could you still have 5 minutes of this before the campaign ends? Biggest difference seems to be Zombies not rolling retaliating, would also be very interesting to hear if the gameplay feels similar!
The late pledge manager for Massive Darkness 2 closes the day after this finishes on KickStarter. I’m considering $1 Undead for now to get in on MD2, but only the core set. Are those KS exclusive expansions (like the 4Horsemen in MD2 or Lone Horse pack in Zombicide) easy to get afterwards? Are the KickStarter Exclusive expansions really that? I mean those seem like major expansions that would be missing for retail, or do they get repackaged or something? MD2 has a rules set for BlackPlague and Horde, the Carebear is going to tempt me to get Hordes if I go this way. I really should just stick with Undead.
The streatch goals so far are only heroes except 1 zombie. Is there any difference between the heroes, different stats? I know there is 4 class, I mean beside that. I dont see the value so far if the difference is only the different look of the heroes. I would buy the train as a separate purchase for my Shadows of Brimstone :)
That depends, I know a lot of people play zombicide solo, for myself I prefer more tactical games solo versus this is more rolling dice and having fun... Definitely a lot of strategy, but more the kind of game that I enjoy with more players.
Zombicide has some strategy, but I would still classify it as a "dice chucker". You might have fun playing it solo, but it's much more fun to play with buds and beers so you can laugh at someone when they get eaten.

Gloomhaven was a gift for Christmas, and almost through that and ready for frosthaven later this year. I think I might have a problem starting 😂
I (re-)watched the part on your top 10 list and also the Cthulhu vs. Zombicide review, but I couldn't really grasp why Black Plague is your favorite one and what you don't like/can see others not liking.. Any thoughts on this or is there even a video in the making? ;)
I already have and love all-in Green Horde, but yeah that main negative for me is that I ideally would pull this one out for 2-3 players as you said. But I also have all-in Cthulhu: Death May Die and that still plays good at 2. So.... I'm basically looking at the daily unlocks / extras in the last few days and will need to be sold on whatever they do with the plastic train or giant mining robot alien invasion craziness I'm sure they'll do. They'd probably take all my money if they did a Cthulhu: Death May Die crossover... don't give them any ideas! I said don't!
CMON projects these days tend to be an instant back simply because they do resale for 2-3x the price. That said, I’m unsure on this one since Wild West theme seems played out. Viking and Norse are “in” right now. Also, I’m not a fan of adding new spawn locations upon opening a new door. Black Plague was already fiddly enough when you opened a new door and had to address an entire large room of spawns which in most cases spawned a necromancer. That breakdown in flow just sucked. Now imagine having to choose whether or not to open a door at all because you have like 5-6 spawns on the board already. Ugh.
Man this has been a rough week of watching your videos.....I didn’t think I would want a second zombicide after Black Plague. But western with just a $100 entry with trains, wagons sigh...... this and Bloodstone may get money from me this month
Off-topic, but have you covered 'Vampire the Masquerade- Chapters' at all? I see it popping up a lot all of a sudden (the Pledge Manager just opened to Late Backers), but I know next to nothing about it (I wasn't in the hobby when the KS originally ran last year).
Might not make the March 2022 date? When have they managed to get backers a Zombicide game by the date on the campaign? Even without the pandemic and shipping delays I wouldn't expect that. Don't go into any CMON campaign expecting them to meet the estimated fulfillment date.

Looks fun - but as a CMON fanboy, I'm actually going to pass on this one - not their fault but thematically this one isnt for me - I think they look great but 150 cowboys aren't needed for me :)
I haven't backed yet, but I'm sure I will. I've got tons of Zombicide already and second edition on the way. So, I've held off so far. But, I keep looking at the page.... it's calling to me.

Like some of the latest KS games, the shipping to Latin america/Rest of the World is expensive. That's quite a problem at the time to decide to back it or not.
I was interested because I like the setting but easy pass because of price (shipping + VAT...), and so far I don't care for the SG. A few extra survivors maybe but not 15! Also I don't know if I need another dice chucker game as I have not gone through season 2 of CDMD.
I think I would have preferred it to use the Zombicide 2.0 in its title if it is in fact in synch with 2.0. Maybe there is a 2.0 label somewhere and I didn't spot it.
@@jeffreyquinn9429 I saw that it recently allowed for late pledges! I actually ended up getting zombicide second edition and backing the Witcher old world. I did a large pledge for that one and it was open for a month
I was mostly interested in Zombicide for stuff to paint that wasn't Age of Sigmar stuff. I ordered 2 black plague zombies from ebay to see how they were before I committed to any full game version. The models feel awful to paint tbh. I was pretty disappointed all details are just a giant melty feeling chunk of plastic. think i will pass, maybe trying again in the future to see if anything changes. Fun theme though!
@@BoardGameCo some of the details blend together so some bits aren't super easy to paint in a way that looks good. I'm mostly used to GW stuff so it's an adjustment. I'm also not a great painter so there's that lol
Surprised no mention of theme as a pro/con, even though you did mention it at the end. I love the Western theme, it's one of my favorite board game themes, even probably ranked higher than dark fantasy and sci-fi horror. But...I also do not like all-human heroes in games like this, especially w/ such a monotone line of just cowboys, farmers, priests/nuns, etc (hopefully the more Natives to be added later look great and unique). So, I'm a little torn. But I do love me some wooden dice... Also, "funner" isn't a word! :P
This is the second Zombicide game that I'm interested in (after Night of the Living Dead), so I'll be watching it, but I kind of feel like I have enough games in this basic genre and would probably prefer picking up NotLD in retail should it ever go on sale.
No, you shouldn't give more money to CMOn after the lack of respect they had for the EU backers of Massive Darkness 2. Despite tons of messages on twitter, kickstarter, facebook, NOONE ANSWERED from their side. Same for their customer service. but they keep pumping zombicide games, each time with a twist to ask you for more than 200$. I said that they lost my trust with MD2 and I won't back any of their games anymore. They must understand that not respecting their customers by not answering any claim have consequences. Stop throwing money at them.
I am still waiting, but it will be over 150 USD for the base game for me and it does not sound good enough. Up till now, those games are around 60% of that price here. I doubt stretch goals are going to offer anything worth this price. I mean, yes, more figures, but those add nothing to the game. Seriously, I'd also feel better with stands, maybe acrylic, but with color images inside. It would look like in your TTS, but would be far better and might be cheaper. All figurines should go in separate figurine box, just like Awaken Realms does with their games to some extent. Anyway, thank you, Quack and his guests for the playthrough. It was awesome, except for the failed finale :D
how do the zombicide series compare to Death May Die? They are relatively light in weight however I only have room for one of the lighter games I plan to get
