Zomei Z818C Tripod with Ball Head - amzn.to/3eLVuAf
Zomei Z818C Professional Travel Tripod Review
Review after testing this tripod and ball head out on Ocracoke Island for a week this summer. Tested with wide angle lenses and telephoto zoom lenses. This is now my go to tripod!

Hi, enjoyed your opening and when you went to the water scene your mic crapped! Curious about what mic you opened with or was there some post work recovery happening? Just some feedback...your delivery is sincere and informative without bs! Keep them coming! A

Aubrey, the opening was filmed with a yi-4k action camera and the water scene was filmed with my iphone. There probably was some post work that ended up causing that hiss on the return. Thanks for watching!

Nice review. Thinking of trying this tripod.

I just got back from a 3 day 24 mile hike on the Shenandoah loop. This tripod was strapped horizontally in the top section of my pack, so either side was hanging out. I went through a very technical rock scramble which including belly crawling up a slope, lowering your body down into crevices, getting out of crevices, etc.. This tripod got the daylights beat out of it banging and scraping the rocks. It is a little scraped up now but it held up to some brutal punishment!

Fantastic to know. My last tripod dropped my camera and was a $230 repair, so trying to find a nice one. Thank you.

Beautiful image! So the salt water at the marsh didn't get into the locking mechanism?

You know at the time I didn't even think about. I guess it must have. This tripod gets stuck in a lot of fresh water too as I like to shoot waterfalls so anything that got in there probably got flushed out with the freshwater pretty soon after that I'm guessing. I haven't had any ill effect from it anyways, but I imagine if I did that a bunch the saltwater would mess things up.

Thanks for the review. I;m wondering if you still like the Z818c after using it for some time? I'm considering a purchase, based on your review. How has it held up?
@BooneDownSouth

Yes it is still holding up. If I am doing landscape type stuff I use this as well as any time I am on a day hike or backcountry hike. If I am using my long lenses though, I stick with my old heavy bogen because the head is stronger. The Zome is a great lightweight tripod. Mine has been through a lot of abuse too.

It’s been 1 1/2 years since you posted this review. How has the tripod held up since? Also, does the bullhead accept arca-Swiss quick release plates?

Edward, I don't know if it accepts arca-Swiss quick release plates or not, however, the tripod is still holding up well. I have had to tighten screws on a few legs but overall it has held up well. It has been banged on quite a bit too while hiking through rock scrambles with it on my back. Now I don't use it for my 70-300 lens anymore though. It can be done but unless you get it really tight it wants to travel a little bit due to the weight. So for long exposure shots with my 70-300 I will use my bogen tripod with a stronger head. Everything else, landscape, travel, etc.. this Zomei tripod is great.

How do i take off the quick release?

You just loosen the knob and slide it out.

Thank you for the review. Just curious, what is the upper leg section diameter? Is it 28mm?

Freddy Acosta - Yea man I took this thing on a a few long range hikes with some rock scrambles and banked it up pretty good. Keeps on performing with all its been through.
