On this episode of Zoo Tours, we are returning to the Nashville Zoo to close out the remainder of the park's entire left side - also known as the Jungle Loop. The three quarters of a mile trail is comprised of some of the best attractions the channel has ever featured: Tiger Crossroads, the Award Winning Expedition Peru, and the cheek lifting Bamboo Trail. However, the Jungle Loop still has quite a bit to offer! Cassowaries, the zoo's largest habitat, colorful flamingoes and you're not only encouraged to pet goats... but also KANGAROOS! Enjoy!

Cockatoos!!! More zoos need large flocks of cockatoos .. especially the black and grey ones !! Also Tucans or Hornbills probably have largest beak/body ratio

I think the bird with the highest beak to body ratio is the sword billed hummingbird

That is true, but the toco toucan has the longest beak of any bird! Unless I’m wrong it may also be the sword billed hummingbird

@@savannahvarns2126 actually, you're wrong. The beak of the male australian pelican Pelecanus conspicillatus can grow up to 0.5 meters or 1.64 ft which is even larger than the toco toucans.

Loved this zoo!! The monkeys when you first walk in were one of my favorite exhibits they were cruising/flying through the trees.. Had a great day there, highly recommended

imo there are a lot of underrepresented species in zoos, microbats, kraits, quolls, cuscus, Quetzals, cetaceans, sirenians, amphisbaenians and more just to name a few

Underrepresented: Gaur, Malay Tapir, Kagu, Southern Cassowary, Mountain Bongo, Mountain Tapir (now only LA Zoo), Shoebill, Pygmy Hippo, & the Sumatran Rhino/Kakapo/Indri/Philippine Eagle which are all understandable

Congrats on 20k Subs Zak, and while I know you like your zoos themed (as do I) The completionist in me thinks it is still nice to see you go back and complete these other less exciting corners of zoos. Which brings forth a question, are you planning on redoing the entry village episode for this zoo?

If you ever go to Europe, you must go to Valencia (Spain), to see the Bioparc Valencia (an outstanding african-themed zoo which is the 9th best zoo in the world, and houses almost every representative species of Africa, including some rare animals) and the Oceanografic (the biggest, and in my opinion better, aquarium of Europe, divided in different pavillions wich show species from all around the world, like belugas, bottlenose dolphins, a lot of sharks, Aldabra tortoises, coral reef fish and aquatic birds). I also recommend the Zaragoza river aquarium, my home town acuatic facility, which claims to be the biggest river aquarium in Europe.

congrats on the 20k! As for the question in the vid, i have always wondered why so many rodent species are missing from zoological institutions given how relatively easy it would be to house and breed them successfully, how endangered some of them are, and how many of them there are out there!

Under represented species in zoos I think are African springtails, aardvarks, South American bush dogs, giant Gambian rats, giant Indian squirrels and Australian quolls

A major underrepresented animal in zoos are gaurs. I remember when the Toronto Zoo had them and it was pretty special. They moved to another zoo to make way for an outdoor orangutan exhibit

In Europe, I've seen gaurs in the Madrid zoo, the Paris "Menagerie" and the wildlife park of Cabárceno (Cantabria, Spain).

Underrepresented animals? So many reptiles, birds, fish, small mammals, amphibians, and inverts (especially inverts). The did have some blue-billed curassows & black-throated magpie jays. Also, what breeds of goats were in the encounters area?

I just went to Brookfield Zoo yesterday and it was horrible. Many of the exhibits are empty and not what it used to be. It’s sad to see my home zoo so lifeless. Edit: Brookfield Zoo also allows you to brush the goats

A unrepresented animal in zoo's is the Shoebill. There is only 2 places in the US that have them.

There's only one zoo in the USA that has the platypus. It should be in more zoos.

It's interesting that common elands are pretty rare in North America since they're a very common sighting in Europe. I do think it's surprising that they're common here in Europe since they're one of the largest antelopes in the world.

I Think That A Very Underrepresented Species In Zoos Are Moose. The Only 3 Zoos I’ve Heard Of In America That Have Or Used To Have Moose Are Columbus Zoo, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, And Zoo Boise. Zoo Boise Hasn’t Had Moose Since 2009 And I Think Cheyennes Bull Just Passed Away Last Year. Edit: Also Blackbuck Antelope And Axis Deer Are Incredibly Underrepresented In Zoos. They Both Look Awesome And I Think They’d Be Awesome In Zoos, But I Hear They’re Kinda Hard To Get Since They’re Both Heavily Protected Species In Their Native Range.

Honestly I know zoos are breeding the more endangered tropical tigers which is the Malayan and Sumatran but I kind of wish that Bengal Tigers the orange variety would be good to have back in zoos again

My first choice is The Persian or Asiatic Lion a big cat subspecies that’s (generally) more prevalent in European zoos.

I would say one underrepresented animal in zoos or aquariums in this country would have to be emperor penguins, since you can only find them at SeaWorld San Diego.

I think an underrepresented species are Guam kingfishers. There are only 140 total in the world and they’re all in captivity but the only ones I’ve seen in person aren’t easily viewable so a breeding program would help show off these gorgeous birds

I think this zoo should have in unseen new world is a californian coast exhibit, with garibaldi, blacksmith, leopard sharks and more, and in the reef tank, should they have in a bonnethead, and with the iguanas, i think there should be cownose and southern rays with bonnethead sharks

I like okapi but not many zoos have these elusive animals in their collections. I always go by to see them at the Columbus Zoo. Sadly they lost a baby okapi a few years ago since these animals are difficult to breed.

Underrepresented species : never really see the Asian Water monitor or the Crocodile monitor in zoos because they're usually outshined by their larger relative the Komodo Dragon
