Hm. It seems as if no one here is smart enough to figure it out. In case you didn't notice, the interviewer is questioning her about, "The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy," a classical novel in which the entire plot is set around the so-called, "meaning of life." In the book, after millions upon millions of years of waiting, you come to find that the answer to the meaning of life is, indeed, forty-two. Therefore, when he asks her, "the answer is forty-two, what is the question?" he's
referencing to the entire theme of the book. He was being intelligent, unlike Zooey. Earlier in the interview, it's quite clear she understands the book, claiming that it treats meaningful questions with little importance, yet she doesn't understand the question that is the main focus of the book? It's quite obvious she didn't do her research, seeing as The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy is most famous for this answer. If anyone was "really weird," it was Zooey.
man that made me feel awkward but my heart was still pounding for her lol i love zooey deschanel along with the rest of the world i guess...well i would hope they do
