@@ExplearningCo many thanks to you. As soon as I watched this video I knew something good was coming. I've shared it with a friend who is doing an interview soon. Thanks.
In the end it's all about being yourselves instead of trying to represent what you really aren't . Eye contact is really important as it shows how confident you are with yourselves. #Be frank #Be comfortable #Pretend that the person who is taking the interview is just in front of you, #Have a big smile, #Not important that you should be suited and booted be on your casual wear where you find yourself comfortable, #Plan your table in front of a window where you can get some good air,, #Relax listen to some gooooood music.. You got ths... And yes @Marry the video is great. All the love from the country of Mountains.. " Nepal ".....

I'm 64, and I'm about to do an on-line interview. I've interviewed many employees in the past, and I agree it takes so much time to set up, schedule a room, and even bring in the appropriate people (because multiple people had to review the candidates). I'm uncomfortable, but I appreciate the increase in efficiency! Thanks for your video Mary. Very much to the point, and I've seen plenty of videos on the topic now. Enough to say thanks a lot for your advice.
Hi Kevin. Thanks for sharing your experience. Good luck with the online interview(s). They get better (dare I say easier) the more you do them. I'm sure you'll be a pro soon enough. I am wondering if it makes any different between phone and PC camera? If I have a wooden stand for my phone, do you think it works the same? Thank you for this! I'm 12 and Im having an interview to get into the school of my choice. Could you suggest me some ways I could think quick when they ask a question?
Hi Sana! Thanks for reaching out. Here's a video we have about thinking before you speak: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZnBEI1VvxDk.html Also, we just released a brand new web course on online interviews: skl.sh/30CYNE4 Happy Explearning⚡
Hi, my answer comes 4 months later but hopefully the advice will be useful in the future as well: 1) PREPARE a list of questions, from the most obvious to the less expected (this is to get you covered as much as possible). 2) PREPARE a list of answers for each of the above questions. 3) MEMORIZE the answers to those questions. RECORD your answers multiple times. NOTICE and COMPARE your answers (tone of voice, speed, assertiveness, etc.). 4) GO A STEP FURTHER by copying your original list of questions and: (A) REPHRASE each QUESTION (make sure to write them down along with the originals): (B) REPHRASE each ANSWER, from the shortest and most to the point form to the more elaborated, detailed form (may include an example if/when appropriate, to further hit the nail on the head and make it more "personal" than just an answer so many other interviewees may come up with). (C) EXPAND the possible questions by organizing the ones in your list according to topics and seeing whether or not every particular topic may call for or include further questions. For example, the topic "Motivation(s)", when explored by the interviewer, may include questions like, "do you think you may fit in here and why?", "what are the things you appreciate the more and the less in our organization?", "if you had any criticism to make us/any negative things you'd like to point out, what would they be?". 5) DON'T BE A PARROT/ROBOT: tricky one when I've stated the importance of PREPARING and LEARNING BY HEART the best possible answers. HOWEVER, reciting your answers as a parrot/robot will be a HUUUUGE mistake. What you should aim to is to being abla to adapt instantly to the circumstances/context/your interlocutor and say your answers "right on cue", with the right tone of voice, speech pattern, etc. It's something you must feel in your guts. If your interviewer is being very quick, your answers should (in general) be equally quick. 6) MORE IMPORTANTLY: BE SMART AND BUY TIME: there's absolutely nothing wring at all with being caught by surprise and not knowing the answer to a question. It happens! The smart thing to do is to (A) Repeat the question, a little slower (this buys you time while your thinking at speed light); (B) Say something like "Right now, I don't know how to answer that; but before we are done and while we carry on I'll be thinking about it and will give you an answer". THAT will show that: (a) you're being honest in recognizing you don't have a ready answer; (b) you're taking the person and the question seriously by committing/promising to giving an answer as soon as possible; and (c) even in the event of being caught off-guard, you keep your calm and you trust your ability to come up with an answer/solution some time later on; you'll be also offering a compromise: giving a delayed answer instead of no answer at all; and you'll be showing a POSITIVE/CONSTRUCTIVE attitude: "let's not this one particular detail prevent us from succeeding in the rest of the interview and sure I can give you an answer/solution if only you'd give me a little more time, I am smart and will be working on the answer to that particuloar question while we carry on with the rest". BEST OF LUCKS FOR YOUR FUTURE!

Hi Remya, congrats on your upcoming zoom interview! Our recommendation is to opt for the most high-resolution communication channel for the interview, which would be the computer. This way, you can benefit from body language and facial expressions. The goal of the interview is always to convey who you are. And you can do that a lot better with video. We discuss this in more detail in one of our newest video lessons on online interview prep: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--hUmRTUb9o0.html Good luck and Happy Explearning ⚡
I had my last round of interview yesterday which was a video call but before i ended the call I forgot to ask "by when will they finalize the candidates" and now I'm just stressed out thinking I'm rejected since they have not contacted me back ( also they are post their joining dates so they would not take alot of time to tell the selected candidate) How do I ask them if I'm selected or no and who should I contact ( the final round HR or the person who 1st contacted me) ??
Hi Anderson, don't worry too much about when you can expect a response. Even if they say "one or two weeks" in reality, timing will vary greatly depending on the specific circumstances of a company's hiring process. It is common for responses to come much later than the recruiter suggests. In fact, it is entirely possible to hear back many weeks or even months (!) later. There are no "rules" that dictate how a company must follow up with candidates. That said, it is a GREAT idea to follow up with the person you interviewed with. The most important follow up is within 24 hours within your interview where you thank them for their time. (Check out our lesson on this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jZ7HPbYynjs.html) If they provided a specific time that they would update to you by, and that date has passed, it is absolutely OK to send a short check in email to confirm the status of your candidacy. If they didn't provide an estimated response time, then two weeks is a good rule of thumb for checking in. Silence does not necessarily mean a lack of interest. Oftentimes recruiters are busy and appreciate you making the effort to stay on their radar. When checking in, the best person to contact is the recruiting manager (whoever is overseeing your hiring process). They will have the best pulse on where you are in the process. Hope this helps! Great to have you in the Explearning community :) Happy Explearning ⚡
@@ExplearningCo Thank you so much for the reply, but I did call the HR to know by when would they let us know to which she did not give a proper reply but said ( the interviewer has sent feedback ) So I don't really know what that indicates but I have been trying in other companies as well. But what does Feedback mean? I'm I Rejected ??
when i look at the interviewer do i look at the camera or screen when they talk? can someone please clarify and help me out? my interview is going to be online and it’s a one shot interview.
To clarify: You want to divide your time between looking at the interviewer and making eye contact when you are talking and when they are talking. 1) Make "eye contact" by looking into the camera 2) Read their body language, facial expressions, and microexpressions by looking at them (at the screen) You need to vary your gaze between both because making eye contact is essential to interpersonal communication and is a show of confidence. And it's important to read the interviewer's nonverbal communication. Good luck on your interview!
