Oh wow! The 1054 Supernova was literally next to Betelgeuse! When Betelgeuse becomes a Supernova itself, it'll be almost the exact same position in the sky. If Betelgeuse were to explode in 2054, that'd just be poetically beautiful. :)
The footage is from today (or five years ago when the picture was taken.) That isn't what it looked like 1,000 years ago. The report was that it looked like a star that brightened some 50 times from the night before. Supposedly they seen the star even in the daylight.
