I agree with you about the shiny finish. I think the fact it is shiny will make any handling noise more prominent just because your hand will stick the way gloss guitar necks stick.
Just ran into your channel Tony. I should be receiving the M4 tomorrow. I'm looking forward to trying it out. There are other videos about both the M2 & M4 that show RF interference with the units. And zoom actually did a recall on them. Have you experienced any RF interference?
ok, direct question here. when I looked in the store they told me this mic is not gonna clip, like if you go buy a concert on the street and they play drums really loved, like cymbals is not gonna clip, not when your dog barked is clipping here in my speakers... is that due to an installation in the mic that it clips ? can one choose different ways to record then so it does not clip when dogs bark or a metal rock star screams in a song all of a sudden? What have you found out? thanks for a great demo! ma thinking for the Summer to use it as a way to interview people and film on the street with some camera on my forehead 😂... maybe will look nuts.. but what camera if one wanna do street interviews and film things maybe partly from my bicycle and partly while walking around do you think is a great choice for RU-vid videos? and do you think one should buy this mic for that sort of job or have a camera with a built in mic for all interviews? thanks and hope to hear your opinions on this little project I got :)
32 Bit Float doesn't clip - which is crazy. I've run a test with REALLY loud guitar amps that used to massively blow out my Zoom H2 and H1. Now something interesting. When you bring the file into an editor (like Adobe Audition) the file might look like it has clipped and will be super-hot. Just back the decibels back with your normalization or gain, and presto - there it is, all sweet sounding with no clipping. It's deceptive until you figure out how it works. There's a lot of data there, and if you just back the levels down, then the distortion is gone. But you never have to worry about it when you are recording live. Crazy.
