ZOOT "Turn Your Head" RARE Stereo mix (Psych classic!) Rick Springfield, Darryl Cotton OZ Aussie

Stereo mix synch'd with the mono ABC clip creating a unique video. Ultra rare stereo LP mix of the classic psych mono B-side to their big hit 45 "Eleanor Rigby" !!! This took me over 3 hours to make as the audio from the stereo LP didn't match the video which was recently played in Australia on ABC TV's "Rage"(sincere thanks to the ABC for this excellent clip from "Hitscene" in 1970)...as it turns out, the rare LP version (only available on the Australian only "Zoot Out" LP)...was a little longer, so it was a lot of painstaking work to try to get it to match (let alone the slight difference in tape speed they used in the studio). Just one example is that at 3.38 there's only one single (guitar only) riff before the drums come in, but on the LP there's actually 3, so I had to cut 2 riffs out of the stereo version to get that 15 second piece to match....Worth it in the end though not perfect I know, but as good as I could do with my computer...R.I.P. Darryl....& kind regards to Rick, Beeb and Rick....Noel

The Who meets Led Zeppelin. I had no idea Springfield could wail like this until I started watching every uploaded Zoot video when triggered by seeing a Valentines/Bon Scott video this morning. Just damn, Rick, I love you even more. And the whole band is insane, with Cotton a superb vocalist whose pipes would still stand out today---especially today.

Exactly my thoughts. Rick was a riff machine

And he brought the band in a more Hard Rock direction! & a Guitar hero to boot! A little more respect for the guy now right?

Wow !!! Thanks for Posting! Thrashed the guts out of this one back in the day. It was the B-side of E. Rigby. Couldn't believe the drum track back then...just as hot today. Rick Brewer I believe.... what a band of all-stars. Big sound and Australia's coolest band in 1970..... so great to hear it again.

I had never heard of this band until today, I went to McDonalds and some old guy liked my Dio sweatshirt. We had a brief conversation, he talked about them and had never heard of the band either until recently from pandora recommendations. He said he really liked punk music, if only I could find him again and tell him they guy who made Jessie's Girl was apart of this. I don't think he would believe me.

Just discovered this band yesterday. Mind blown. Quite ahead of its time, reminds me of Budgie, but this came out the same year as Budgie's first album, so which came first: The Budgie or the egg?
@LeonThe4th
@LeonThe4th 3 года назад
ZOOT were definitely first, as the "Eleanor Rigby/Turn Your Head" 45 was released in Australia/NZ in Dec 1970, but Budgie's first album wasn't even recorded until 1971 (released in June 1971). Also....back then...there's was always a gap between any US or UK original record release dates to when they were finally released in Australia. For example, Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" wasn't released until well over 6 months after it hit No.1 on the UK charts....over 6 MONTHS!!! There's a plethora of great singers/songwriters/bands who were successful in Australia who are unknown worldwide...a great pity...come bands like Dragon, have SO many hits that you can't fit them all on one CD.....The Zoot are one of the first heavy bands from the late 60's early 70's...but split soon after this....
