Vivi needed to stop Koza because he was the leader of the rebel army. If he had ran out by himself and told the royal army about the bomb, the royal army would've just seen the enemy leader screaming at them that they were all about to die in an explosion. They wouldn't have listened, probably would've killed or captured him, then the rebel army would have attacked when they saw what happened to him. That's the reason why Crocodile was fine with telling Koza everything and letting him run before Vivi stopped him. Because he knew Koza would've gotten himself killed and guaranteed than the two armies would've fought, but then he moved to intercept them once Vivi had calmed Koza down. But by staying calm and going with Vivi to get the Royal Army to surrender, they could've prevented the fight, quickly told everyone that Crocodile was behind everything, and that they needed to leave quicly before the bomb could go off.
@@cris9242 For real, in OP they are all like that lmao "Don't underestimate how weak i am" Usopp got bombed multiple times, a woman weighing tons sat on him, was thrown through walls and got hit by a super heavy bat and he was up again super fast😂 and let's not talk about the amount of fake out deaths😅
The end to Zoro's fight is quite artistic. I love their final exchange. To this day this fight still holds a special place in my heart from all of Zoro's fights.
Yall are confused about Vivi stopping Kohza. She stops him to make sure he doesn't tell them about the bomb, cause it would cause a panic. The rebel army is already here, ready to die and fight, it would be alot harder to get them to stop if they knew they were all gonna die right then and there. She wants to end the fighting and get them to leave without casualty.
its also easy to forget about bad a bunch of peoel going into a panic can be, its why pretty much everything tries to keep people calm during a bad moment
the thing about friendship in one peice is that there's no magical 'power of friendship'. friednship is merely what drives the characters, makes them react with determination and drive, but it's not what affects their 'strength'. Luffy doesn't suddenly get stronger when fighting for his friends, at most he's jsut driven to push himself further even if he's at death's door, So when the characers get a powerup it's not because 'friendship'. It's Zoro having an epiphany over the philsophy of swordsmanship, or Nami being inspired to get a weapon made for her to cover her weaknesses.
It's not the power of friendship. His teacher literally said it's not about the force, when true swordsman want to cut even still he will cut it, but at the same time he must be able to not cut even paper. Having swords that follows your will is a true swordsmanship, other than that we will learn later on
One detail I really love is during the flashback of them earlier in the day showing them coming up with the plan, and Usopp is scared cause he's teamed up with a camel and he asks Sanji if he'd come rescue him after they successfully split up the numbers agents and Sanji says "I only save Ladies." But in reality he went to Usopp's aid right away to save him from Mr.2, he was too late of course cause Usopp only held out for 1 second but he was still worried about Usopp and went to rescue him dispite what he said. No matter what horrible stuff Sanji says to try and seem cool he's actually just the nicest dude around.
Zoro just always has massive disadvantages when fighting someone. In Orange town he was stabbed by Buggy, in Syrup Village it was 2v1, in Baratie he fought the strongest person in the world, in Arlong Park he was still injured from Mihawk and now he just had to fight someone made of steel
@@Knull575 So u missed the part where Usopp is a NORMAL human compared to Zoro who literally awakened Haki during the fight? And you tell me which is more scary getting getting your abdomen ripped from outside or getting your skull cracked from Inside? I hope you are not that dumb
I guess the difference between koza's approach to inform the rebel army and vivi's approach is that if your leader is passionately shouting about a bomb in the middle of a war the assumption will normally be that the royal army was behind the bomb which would just cause more chaos
pretty much. Vivi said he's panicking so its likely was jsut gonan rush out screaming in the middle of a war, which is dangerous. We also have a LONG history of what happens when peopel go into a panic, with people being litrally trampled and crushed underfoot in the chaos.
Zoro’s spiritual and emotional awakening/enlightenment: Mr. 1 (Someone who IS himself a blade) => «I will cut EVERYTHING here...down to atoms. » => Someone who cuts through EVERYTHING (regardless of his own Will to cut it). = NOT a true Swordsman (according to Zoro and his Master) = «I am an assassin.» «In my opinion, a BLADE that cuts whatever it touches cannot be considered a SWORD/KATANA. The strongest sword is a blade that can protect what it wishes to protect and cut what it wishes to cut. » (Koshiro, Zoro's Master and Kuina's father) Zoro = Someone who cuts through Nothing = Someone who is ABLE to cut EVERYTHING (including "Nothing") if he so WANTS/DESIRES TO + Someone who CAN (CHOOSE) NOT to cut through anything at all but instead chooses to use his sword to protect what is most dear to him (+Protect, -Cut/Harm) = A True Swordsman, One who can cut Nothing yet with the same katana cut through steel if he WILL it to -> «My WILL is flowing into the sword.» With this step, Zoro's Swordsmanship evolves into the spiritual and the gnostic (even slightly supernatural) realm, his Katana is now One with Himself, with His Soul and the Breath/Soul of All Things alive or dead - it cuts on/through a dimension much deeper and much more complex (or higher, if you will) than simple steel or matter - it is a Sword of the Soul, of the Mind, of the Heart, of Zoro's Will and Consciousness Itself. To make matters clearer, I'll repost here something I once read in a MyAnimeList forum: «I think if one has some knowledge about Japanese or Chinese martial arts, the meaning of 'cutting nothing' will be clearer. The Japanese word used in the anime is 'kokyu', it can be translated as 'breath' but in martial arts terms 'kokyu' is not just the respiratory breath, it specifically refers to the idea that, through breathing, we connect our body and soul with the external environment (remember Zoro's Master and his breathing exercises?), in short, 'to breathe in harmony with the world'. To strike things with a blade but not cutting or damaging them is difficult, for your blade has to move in harmony with the target and so the target remains unharmed - as illustrated by Zoro's blade moving in perfect harmony/sync with the branch and therefore not a single leaf ends up damaged. When you can sense the 'kokyu' of everything and manage to NOT cut your target when striking, you know the perfect timing and spot to strike and can cut anything. It is a major character development point for Zoro, who used to believe a great swordsman needs great power and strength, and whose battle method often resorts to brute force, but in this particular episode, he starts to realize real strength does not simply 'physical force'. » (Source: MyAnimeList - in forum "zoro, cutting through nothing/breath of everything?!", a post by anovus, Apr 27, 2017 10:28 AM) I love the mythology Oda has created around Zoro and his Swordsmanship. P.S.S. There's also an opinion piece about this that might be right up your alley (or not) called "The Power to Cut Through Steel and the Breath of All Things.". Google it, if you feel like it.
Bro you could have just said that Zoro's teacher tried to tought him that sword should follow showrdsman will, and that's it. It's not about the strength, it's ability to follow your will through your sword, when you don't want cut paper sword will not cut it, and if you want to cut even still your sword will do it
@@garri5108 No, "protecting" is an important theme to Zoro's character. Here at the start he was obsessed with using his strength to overpower Mr 1. Only when he started thinking about his crewmates did he start feeling the "breath" of all things. Most of his dramatic moments are about protecting his crew; his "Nothing Happened" moment happened because he wanted to save Luffy. He threw away his pride to be taught under Mihawk.
@@username-ql8ox I understand it, I agree about nothing happened ans his will to theow away his ambitions for the crew, but I'm talking exactly about this episode, it was just about Zoro's learning how to use you know what, it's not the power of friendship what made him win against Mr.1 it was one particular thing
Vivi stopped Koza because yes, while his followers possibly would've believed him, the Royal army would just write it off as a deception and attack him or ignore him entirely and keep on fighting.
I always liked the translation of it as"breath" more than "rhythm" but it's fine. What is not fine is the "kicking claw force" they are the perfect example of Oda liking a idea so much that he put it in and even if it is a good one in a vacuum in context it kinda fail in context, like its so perfect as a encapsulation of who Crocodile is, he is the kind of asshole to see someone sacrifice themself for for what they love and laugh at them and make their effort worthless. But they are such an out of nowhere thing. Now for trivia: 🏴☠One Piece at a time🏴☠: In the manga as alabasta is going on, a cover story about Hachi started, so as Zoro is fighting for his life against a dice-man, Hachi is hanging out in the ocean and meets a mermaid and a starfish.
Zoro vs Mr. 1 is one of the best fights in the Pre-Timeskip. Not only because of the foreshadowing of "the rythm", but the art, the animation, the pacing, the matchup and the conclusion. All of it was peak 🔥
9:54 i just realized this hearing heartbeat line is a reference in the live action scene of mihawk stabbing zoro and you can clearly hear his heartbeats
comparing baroque workd to an MLM is so fucking funny and weirdly accurate jhjchsdbhjdbv...crocodile is just a single mom, trying to get by....selling leggins on facebook...im very tickled by that image
Chaka's entire theme is "Protect the Royal Family." In the absence of his King, he will want to protect the Royal Palace. It was not that he "forgot" Cobra's words--when he says "they're a blur to me," he remembers the words but his heart lies with protecting the Family. The best way he knows how to do that is to defend the Palace from those trying to kill the King. It was never stupidity or forgetfulness, or anything like that.
It's time boys...next episode 121 and 122 Day and days we are getting closer to ep 122 which has the luffy's deadliest transformation which he uses only 1 time during this arc and never again due to it's destructive power it has
Ya you're right after finding out that shanks is the main antagonist THE MAIN HIDDEN VILLAIN now our only hope is LUFFY that form@@christiancampbell-sanderso5998
the lgoic of vivi stopping koza was that he wans't thinking striaght and was in a panic. If he jsut ran out screaming about what was happening that migth jsut cause everyone to panic and lead to everyone being too panicked to properly escape, not to mention the confusion of the war could muddy things up and lead to confusion (for example, rfusing to lsitn to koza cause they're currently in battle and don't have time to hear him especially if he looks like he's gone crazy due to being in a desperate panic). SHe'strying to get him to calmly start a cease fire without causing a panic that could just lead to confusion Blowing upthe palace was meant to be a way to draw attention while everyone was busy fighting. but now that KOZA'S onboard they can actually convince everyone to a cease fire without causing a huge desperate spectacle since he'll be there to like help stopthe war, whearas before they didn't even know where he WAS let alone knew if they could find him and convince to stop the war in time.
Unbelievably whether Oda intended it or not, the power Zoro experiences here is foreshadowing for way down the line. I don’t know if Oda knew what this power was at this point, or what he wanted to call it, but it fits the narrative for the future. Glad you guys appreciated the mystery 😊
I think he knew because this is not the first time we see this power. We see it with Shanks, with Mihawk, Crocus etc. And is not a coincidence that Zoro learned this after the Logias type like Smoker, Ace and Crocodile were introduced.
@@drakesacrum8445 I agree I think he definitely knew about the power and what he wanted to do with it, I just wonder if he hadn’t named it yet. Or maybe he just didn’t want any characters to reveal the name so early. But yes I agree :)
@@HExtraordinaire my comment was very vague just an comment on foreshadowing. They already were talking about a “mysterious power” in their discussion. I’ve said no more than that
good nalysis on zoros fight. ODa's the best at giving us the same old tropes but in the most authentic and creative ways that seam to and meaning and making it more than a trope
This is not a spoiler, but Zoro has essentially figured out some method to command his sword to cut by feeling the breath of different things. So he figured out how to prevent his sword from cutting the trees then how to make it cut the rock. When he grasped the steel's breath, he was able to command the sword to cut it.
it's been a few episodes and i still can't tell whether you got it or not concerning shaka lmao (because you seem to then kinda don't then kinda do) it's not that he didn't remember, it's that he just got the news about the king killing civilian, and he was conflicted about whether or not he should follow what was said by said king imo the point was that he should have trusted cobra and what he knew him to be but also kinda fair enough because getting this kind of responsibility when you're not used to it at all the second after been told that the person you admired so much was killing people for fun, i'd freeze too lol can't wait for the last few episodes of alabasta, to this day still one of my favorite (and one of the very few instances where having it animated really elevate it, especially crocodile fight)
Zoro vs Mr 1 it's one of my favorite fight of one piece, I love the concept, the abilities use, pacing and the animation I think it was actually pretty good for the standards of the show
what do you mean? Mr1 vs Zoro is best of this arc, Zoro casually discovers haki and then forget how to use it for whole 400 Eps , luffy vs croco is just clown fight when luffy got carried by his luck basically
LMAO there's so many spoilers in the form of "hints" in the comments rn 😂 Y'all need to be careful but its impossible to not get spoiled. The one piece fandom is full of nerds ready to explain everything in small detail for no reason
I forget the exact source (I think either the SBS or data books), but there was actually some official confirmation of how much blood Zoro lost in his fights up to this point. The exact number also eludes me right now, but I definitely recall it was enough to kill most ordinary people several times over, lol. Now, something I _haven't_ easily forgotten are the days when Vivi's bloodcurdling shrieking of Koza's name was something of a meme in the early OP fan community, heh. 😂
the thematic finale for Zoro and Mr 1 fight is even topped off perfectly with Mr 1's question to Zoro: "Will you try cutting diamonds next?" "That'd be a waste" Diamonds are precious, and meant to be protected, much like the people Zoro thought about while on the brink of death.
So my analysis: Usopp and Chopper won because of will (Nullifying all damage sustain thus surviving deadly injuries) their body overcome physical damage then they become crafty. Nami won because of element of surprise, her enemy got so destructed by nami's initial attempt to use her weapon. Sanji won because he overcome Mr. 2 by becoming more faster. Zoro won because he discovered enemy weakpoints or he can now cut steel. oh no, they definitely awaken something here but Oda can't still figure out what to call it.
Hi Boldcast! I love your reactions and comments. About the point you are I want to give you an advice considering that you are watching fillers too... After the Episode 138, you can watch the TV Extra 2 "A Father's Dream", the three movies "Pirates Race", "Sacred Sword Curse", and "Oomatsuri Baroon And The Secret Island", before you back to episode 139. Also you can read the manga cover story of Jango (chapter 126 to 172) that tells what happened to him after Usopp village story.
All the fights against Baroque Works have a different feeling to them, which is pretty impressive in itself. Zoro's fight is just the serious one of the bunch.
What Zoro did here is has a lot of meaning and will be expanded upon. But sadly, you'll have to wait for quite a bit if you want more of it. Still, you'll get there eventually!
The part with vivi stopping Koza i mean at first it doesnt make much sense but think about it, if you are a rebel army soldier fighting and outta nowhere your boss starts screaming "the plaza will blow up get away" or any variation of that the first thought would be "the king wants to bomb us up fk him" but at the same time vivi could have run along him and explained instead of deadass pinning him on the ground like yea she did stop him for nothing anyways😂
She ain't no dumbass, that's what you and others fail to understand about her point. Whether she acts or not, crocodile's gonna ensure the plan succeeds, no matter what you try. If you really think about it, her plan actually worked. It's those baroque workers who are tryna stop them.
Vivi is, like, freaking out Khoza big time, you know? If he goes around saying there's a bomb, it's gonna cause a huge panic that won't do any good. She's trying to calm him down and make sure he understands this. Stop trying to undermine her, you guys just want to find faults for no reason.
Also, in the case of dumbing down Miss Double Finger, I feel like Oda cornered himself here by giving a female partner to every numbered agent. Miss Double Finger is a partner of Mr. 1, so someone strong from the straw hat crew should have fought with her, but that strong person here would have been Sanji. Sanji doesn't fight women, so that's out of the question. This leaves ussop and chopper. Using either of them here would have been wrong as a strong miss double finger against either of those 2 would have shown them being stronger than Sanji, which once again doesn't fit well with the narrative Oda has been trying to establish. In the end, the last option remains Nami and dumbing down Miss Double Finger.
I think Miss Doublefingered underestimated Nami. She saw her as a weak girl with no powers. She was playing with Nami the whole fight, like a cat plays with its prey.
What’s confusing about it? The rice ball thing? It’s cuz that little girl gave zoro those rice balls when he was strung up in that navy yard before luffy showed up n all that. But he always has a pause between oni and giri so he can make it all edgy with oni meaning that cool Japanese demon. I mean I think that’s the long and short of it
@@lukecartwright535 OMG... I've been a fan of One Piece for 20 years, but... you are so right! Now that you say it, I realize that! I didn't realize that until today! Thanks for pointing that out!!!
I don't dislike Zoro's fight with Mr 1 and going on i can see what happened at the end. Still, like Usopp's fight, the fact that he got hit again and again, losing ton of blood, and still kept getting up while Mr 1 got hit once and lost immediately is not really my favorite thing in OP fights. At least make it last a little longer after Zoro figured out how to cut him😅
Bad subtitles. Must be Netflix one. What Zoro meant was not "Rhythm", he meant "Breath". From now on, u will hear this term Voice of All Things or Breath of All Things. It basically is a way to sense everything around u, be it living or inanimate
Zoro's fights alwayshave him at a disadvatage. first fight against cabaji he's wounded from a stab wound, next he's lsot one of his weapons and is fighting two enemies at once, next he fights mihawk which goes witout saying and then he fights a fishman who 1) wields more weapons 2) is stronger due to being a fishman and 3) zoro is still recoveering and dealing with his serious wound from mihawk. Here his handicap is that Mr 1 ate a devil fruit that makes him effectively invincible to zoro's specific approach to fight.
The whole "strength from being near death" is a concept of Shintoism, the Japanese religion which originated as a weird mix of Chinese old Taoism, which deal with ideas of all nature and living beings containing some kind of energy, and Chinese later Buddhism, which deals with resurrections. According to Shinto, in dying you become one with nature, and if you're capable of retaining that experience in resurrection, or by returning from the underworld, you retain the ability to draw that innate power of the living world. It's used in many battle manga, with the most extensive exploration of the concept present in Shaman King (to the point where it becomes kinda comical, how characters use repeated death as training, but it fits the core concepts of the story).
im calling it miss all sunday or wtv her name is is overrated power scaling wise i still value her character and think she will be a player even past this arc. We see her hand bleed using her devil fruit powers so it does seem like she gets some percent of damage back to her main body from her extended arms
