You have a wide variety of knowledge. This is a video that will help many looking how to do this. I always search RU-vid for things I need a little help on.Great job Brian ✊💎
I didn't know that replacement lenses were available for the C6 corvette. I was pretty intimidated to remove the front bumper on my 05. After watching a bunch of RU-vid videos I decided to give it a try. Its really not too bad. The only thing I remember that you forgot to mention were the two10mm nuts on the bottom in front of the condensor. Really good video Brian!!
You saved me some time for sure. Thanks for sharing and nice job of being careful and doing a job that many people don't do like that anymore. Do it right the first time and you will never go wrong. I just subscribed and just saw your channel for the first time. Thanks again. Have a great weekend. 👍
10:25 love to see junior watching call of duty warzone while dad is putting the vette back together 😂 I don't have a Corvette but still watch these videos anyways just cause you uploaded it :) keep up the good work B!
Wow this video is awesome!! I have been wanting to replace the headlight lenses on my C6 Z06 for awhile but haven't because there weren't any good videos on how to do it. Very professional video. Cleared up a ton of my questions. Thanks again and keep up the great work!!!👍
You didn't look very hard. There are TONS of videos available on replacing the lenses. While this video is good at explaining how to remove the headlight, it skips over several steps in replacing the lenses. While I commend him on the headlight removal part, I only give 2 stars (out of 5) on the lens replacement part.
Nice Ride! ZR1! I'D be doing replacement lenses on these headlights? You make this look like easy peasy! It looks like new! Thank you very much Brian! Great video with your care and knowledge!
GM shouldve made these lenses ALOT easier by 2 clips underneath/inside the hood-area...taking apart a car like this for 'headlight lenses' seems ridiculous to say the least, but seems this is the only way;GM never thought all these videos would be out with all this knowledge is my guess.thanks for the vid btw!
Well I did a headlight restoration and it turned out way better then it was, just some minor spots left but that seemed to be inside the material itsself. Not sure if it could be removed with sanding so i left it as it is. My mom was very happy with the result though and the light are bright again like they should. but those spots looked alot like the damage on these, so i guess they cant be removed then?
I thought you had to heat up the outer surrounding, just as you did when you went to take it off, once you put on a new cover in order for it to seal properly. Is this true?
I buy extra clips for the ones under the car. I don't like to reuse those. I have a metal pry tool for those also. The plastic pry tools you're using, I use for the interior or really sensitive objects. I did a retrofit for my Civic where I had to follow this same process.
@@apexdetail85 I wish haha, it's a 2008 EX. It looks classic compared the the newest I guess. I don't have it now, but I'm gonna do the same thing with the 2019 Impreza Hatchback. Sorry to burst that bubble. Both of your cars are coming along real nicely.
I have couple confidence you took the extra steps to clean and correct and maybe even coat the black inner bezel before re-assembly just didn’t show the process in the interest of time lol
On CorvetteForum.com there are at least two sellers of repro lenses. Ive read DIY threads where they talk about heating the assy in your OVEN to get the OE sealant to release and a much more labor intensive ordeal for R&R'ing the LENSE......Your video and install didnt look anything like what I was expecting....Can Brian or somebody with knowledge please explain.....
I agree with Chuck. Many other videos on RU-vid showing the process of removing the adhesive then re-sealing the lens back in place. You didn’t mention or show that step.
@@DRMSAB1 He missed several steps or at least did not show them on the video. I have done the lens replacement on my own Corvette and while it's not extremely difficult, it is time consuming. From everything I have learned in the research I've done prior to replacing mine, the sealant material holding the lens, which he uses a heat gun to soften to remove the lens, should be replaced. There is also an oven method of heating this material where the entire headlight is placed in an oven at 200 degrees for about 15 minutes to soften the material. It should also be warmed to make it easier to press the new lens into the material so that it seals properly. The new lens should also me clamped to ensure that it stays sealed prior to replacing it in the vehicle.
Great work, cool that you offer these kinds of services too. C6 ZR1 is such a great car. Are those all season tires though? If so that's pretty disappointing on a vehicle like this.
a small joke we had in 1973 a Volkswagen beetle and to change the lamp and the lens took 4 screws for and in the back. after we got Volkswagen polo oxford www.flickr.com/photos/fil82/6263848839/ think still simple and then came en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_300_Series its was slight not so easy a few years ago 2 or 3 times the aaa club did a test can you remove a lamp bulb your self on a modern car out of 5 contesters, 1 could for me this a complicated heart replacement ^ _ ^. and all just to get the headlight out.perhaps ones you ben there its as easy as drink a soda and clean your teeth ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ebRef4tm4sM.html the d is the same as the 2016 e so redex and I looking forward to the new video

You didn’t do the most important part removing old glue and installing new butyl sealant….you will have condensation in no time with this half ass “refurbishment”
